Remember folks, you still need to meet Rule 1 and 2 for this to be of any benefit.

    Rule 1: Be attractive

    Rule 2: Don't be unattractive

    • +4

Dang I knew I was doing something wrong…

    • +11

      Or

      Rule 1: Be rich

Banter game strong. White male. 6 foot tall. Rich. Muscular. Have a dog.
Chances of success are otherwise 0.000000001%.
Still better than zero so keep trying.

        • +1

          6'2"+ now due to inflation.

      • Lol.
You basically said the opposite of what I assume you were trying to say.

        • Sounds like someone got confused. I often find it interesting that online dating is based on appearances so how are they expecting to earn love when you don't even give a chance.

    • +5

But if you satisfy Rule 1, why would you need to use Tinder…

  • +3

    Thanks OP, bought 2

Good on you! Doubling your chances

      • +28

@Pricebeat: too smart for tinder , you been blocked

  • +10

I believe this is just the version that gives you unlimited swipes, nothing else?
Tinder is just a money sink now, there was a time it used to be legitimately good for what it was but that was before they ever monetized it, it has completely gone to shit since then. you are paywalled from everyone the algorithm knows that you want to speak to, which is then doubled because even if YOU are the catch, you're being prevented from being contacted just the same (but lets be real this is ozbargain users we're talking about).

the app is honestly awful unless you are willing to just sink money into it. the things the app will sell you even seem to be the opposite of the original design of the app, including:
    - message without matching
    - see if they've already liked you
    - alert them you've liked them
    - make everyone in your radius see your profile first for the 24 hours (for $100)

literally the most pay to win cheat codes ive ever seen. they even try to get you to pay money per match to find out when they've read your messages. like seriously, wtf?

so if you've got this premium subscription (Plus) you can send out more likes - which is likely to lower your dating MMR because higher sought after profiles are, again, paywalled behind 'top picks' - so what you end up being served are lower-ranked profiles which are thus more likely to accept your request…which lowers your MMR yet again. the alternative is you're sending out more likes and getting more rejections which - you guessed it - lowers your MMR…so even if you do get matches, they aren't with the people you even want to TRY to match with because you haven't spent enough money.

i consider this tier to be effectively worthless because if you're not spending more money you absolutely have to be spending a lot of time putting out all the feelers. it becomes a job. the tier above which shows you who has liked you will at least save you the hours upon hours of swiping - but regardless it isn't going to let you attempt to match with 'top picks' (except for 1 per day lol) and costs OVER $50 PER MONTH.

    • +3

Yeah it is completely pay 2 play now. I do really well on Hinge but it's crickets over on the Tinder app. Most of the matches I get are from likes I've sent so long ago I don't remember the profile. Unless you're paying for boosts don't even bother.

      • The literal only difference between Tinder and Hinge is that Hinge doesn't have an awful, out of date, buggy UI and it shows you your likes on the free tier, which keeps everyone hanging around casually in a way Tinder can't (which isn't necessarily good, then you just have people like me who would keep it around for the occasional validation hit with no intention of having a conversation). it still charges $55 per month and still further gatekeeps the top potential matches. online dating as we knew it for a short time is dead, someone will disrupt the industry again in a few years and there will be a new Tinder all over again. in the mean time these will just fizzle out but make bank in the meantime.

        • Nah there's quite clearly different algorithms set up for both with Hinge being more focused on showing you people that are your type and that are around the same hidden score or whatever you want to call it. Hinge will start you off on 0 and show you mostly ugly people (me and the buddies call it Hinge Hell) until you start to get more likes from people with a higher hidden score, then your score goes up and it starts showing you more attractive people. Tinder seems to just throw a bunch of tens at the top of your deck then a mix of the rest. Obvs this is from a male perspective, likely there's different algorithms for women who are treated as the product.

          • @Cheaplikethebird: I think you're mostly right but Tinder definitely gives you an MMR as well, it just gives you the illusion that you might match with hotties by always serving you some great potential matches at the very start - they couldn't do that on Hinge since you get notified for every like, and it would massively deter those same tier of matches.

            • @[Deactivated]: Oh yeah for sure. I think also the difference is Tinder having the boost feature, unless you're a 10 or boosting you're like number 400 in the deck.

how much is it on apple india? should come with bobs and vegana.

    • That's precisely the problem with online dating. Generalisation. You expect a country where literacy levels are low and access to internet has created this market for them to seek out sexual gratification whem their own society looks down upon them to have an outlet. No surprise they show up online demanding to see the privates. But really, isn't that what every man is trying to do at the end of the day being on a dating app? It may not be a very direct approach but it is the reality. However, poor indian guys get ridiculed. I wonder what the stats say about users and who is getting laid most.

      • Massive subcontinental cope detected. Doesn't matter where you're from, creepy behaviour is still creepy behaviour, quit attempting to rationalise & normalise it.

        • -1

I am neither trying to rationalise it nor am I indian myself but just saying, generalisation to a particular race is the definition of racism. Inappropriate behaviours are not limited to one race alone. Next aboriginals will all be sub-human criminals (history has taught us that). Same thing happens in America with the Mexicans. So in reality, race talks often stem from hatred for a particular race. I see so many Anglo-Saxon people in my line of work who have problems with the law, doesn't mean we generalise it to them. Talk about abuse through catholic church, that means all catholics are child abusers? We need to address issues by investing in education and addressing poverty. It is easy to blame the bloody indians for all our problems. Then it's China and Russia who are the cause of problems all over the world. If you knew history, you will know which races have been the invaders most and stole resources from every nation and in the process, killed hundreds of thousands of people. They were not developed nations to start with. No one is a saint here mate. We all have our own problems. Where do you think the porn industry was invented? Who owns and runs pornhub or onlyfans? I doubt it is the indians paying for the content subscriptions only. I doubt it's the indians buying used panties and fart containers. Unless you have a one nation mentality and blame others for everything.

          • @Royale with cheese: You wrote a giant TLDR about racism, after literally generalising the online behaviour of what is soon to be the world's most populous country. Might what to rethink all that.

            • @Ham Dragon: I didn't generalise it. I am saying we should avoid generalising as it creates problems only. We should be aware of our own biases rather than be the sheep

  • Where are we buying iTunes Giftcards from now? TurGame has been a bit shit lately.

  • does this show girls in turkey or where ever you are?

  • Gents (or ladies); asking for help here.

I created a Turkey Apple ID 6 months ago following that previous thread. Never was able to use it. I thought Apple had gotten wise and the whole thing died. Surprised to see this as a live deal again.

I'm hoping some smart boffin can tell me where I'm going wrong. (Apart from wanting a Tinder subscription in the first place, even I see where I'm going wrong there!)

OK so here's what I've done
    1) made a Tinder ID; bought $10 gift card to get started and added this to account

    2) linked it to family sharing on my Australian ID - this was with the intention of sharing Apple cloud backup savings, but never used this. I could delete this and start again if that's the issue

    3) switched to Turkish ID for App Store on primary iPhone, and tried to buy subscriptions in Tinder and other apps. In each case it shows me the equivalent Aussie apple store price but expressed in TKL

    4) got a spare old iPhone, set it up under my Turkish ID, so there's no Aussie Apple ID anywhere. Loaded some apps like tinder (from Turkish App Store). Created new accounts (but it needs an Aussie phone number to make the Tinder account). I still see the TKL pricing as AUD equivalent.

Has this happened to anyone else?

    Any words of advice?

(I do see how the family sharing MIGHT be an issue, but in the other thread from August that was the instruction and it didn't cause a problem for people)

    thanks

    • Can you confirm you are logged in on “media and purchases” with Turkish ID? Also on the apps try to restore purchases or restart phone. Otherwise sometimes going ahead with the purchase and not actually confirming it with face id has helped correct the issues for me if I do get it on an app.

      • thanks for trying to help

So I'm still playing with this - determined not to give up LOL

Yes I a logged in to Media and Purhcases with the Turkey ID
I have tried "restore purchases" and restarted the phone
I tried the idea of going ahead with purchase and not confirming it

Are other people actually getting this to work, and how?

Would it help to use VPN to change to Turkey IP address (My VPN doesn't have Turkey so I haven't tried)
What about a GPS location hacker? (and if so is there one that doesn't require jailbreak iphone)

        thanks
