Is this brand /model any good? Seems cheap

    • +2

We had the yeedi pro vac 2. It worked well while it worked. The first one failed after a few months and kept telling us to clean the drop sensors. We emailed the company and they sent us a replacement. That one lasted three weeks before having the same error, at which point the company refunded us. We really did like it while it lasted, though, and ultimately it cost us nothing because the company has pretty good customer service. That said, we're not likely to ever buy that brand again.

      • +1

Just came to say i have similar experience with the brand…

Bought the ecovac during the ALDI special, the thing goes up a small ramp and says that "Drop detected, please clean the drop sensors". Then after a few months, the bumper seems to have been bugged and says that it hit a wall despite it being in the middle of the room and to gently tap the bumper to see if it comes back out.

I havent contacted the company yet but i would not recommend this brand's robovac at this stage

        • If you're still within the one year warranty, contact the company. They'll ask for a screenshot of the invoice and a video of the error, and then they'll send you a new one without any fuss. You don't have to send the old one back or anything.

          • @overlordpotatoe: While that's good after-sales service, doesn't that highlight that the company knows their product is faulty?

            • @mrbean13: Oh yeah, that was definitely the impression I got. Technically I could have faked the second one breaking by sending another video of the first one, but they really didn't seem to doubt that they'd both have broken in the same way so soon.

  • Amazon reviews looks pretty good and for the price this seems like a bargain!

  • bought. at this price, i will just tell it to run a few more rounds for better coverage.

  • sweet bro Thank OP now I've got the Mrs Christmas present sorted shes been raving about this particular model saying her friends one does an awesome job and reckons the mop function is so good

  • +6

Piece of sh!t never managed to map my entire home, lost count of the number of times it would start running out of battery mid-mapping and then shit the bed as it couldn't find it's way back to the dock. Tried multiple times ot get it to complete mapping the entire house but it would either miss entire rooms or mess up the mapping and need ot be returned to base manually to start all over again once recharged. So yeah, in summary it's a real POS.

  • +1

I have this for over a year now, there maybe some issues but overall its a great machine. Mops awesome and Sucks great.

  • Does anyone know how much warranty it has can't seem to find it on the Amazon page thanks in advance

  • This or the Lubluelu for an extra hundred?

    • +2

I ordered the Lubluelu and I am very happy with it

    • +2

Got the Lubluelu for $220 on last deal.

Brilliant, can't fault it to date and use it every day.

Havent used map though, mapping is good and quite flexible once you work it out.

  • Says it uses laser mapping, but no mention of lidar?

    • Guessing no lidar then

    • +5

No Lidar, also going off my two weeks with it the mapping software appears to have been written by Stevie Wonder.

    • -1

LIDAR I thought is a must for robovacs - wtf is this

  • Anyone know if it works with the Ecovacs T8 station? Waited forever for a deal on a white N8 station from JB and I think it got discontinued? But they do have a black T8 station for $200 at the moment

Vacuum itself is pretty good though for $200, but I have mine mapped to avoid the carpet so don't know how good it is at vacuuming there

    • +2

      The Amazon listing says:

"OPTIONAL AUTO DUSTBIN EMPTY: Upgrade with ECOVACS N8 self-empty station equipped with a 2.5L dust bag storing 60 days' dirt, freeing you from frequent vacuuming."

So I'm guessing it will work with it.

      • Yeah I know, I'm guessing too, my confusion is more in the N8/T8 thing because I don't know anything about Ecovacs. The Ecovacs site says "Compatible with DEEBOT T9/N8 PRO/N8/NEO/N10/T8/T8 AIVI" and the JB site says "*Only compatible with DEEBOT OZMO T8 AIVI"

        Guess it's the same

  • How would this compare with the Deebot Neo? Half the price of what Aldi sell the Deebot for so very tempting.

  • Bought 1 thanks 🙏

  • Just bought it. Thanks OP

  • +1

been using this since last year, use it to mop once or twice a week, floors feel much cleaner after compared to just vacuum.
Not bothering with the mapping, avoidance, bumper and carpet detection is good enough.

Battery & water tank lasts quite a while too.

  • How easy is it to empty the dust from the robot. Is it worth buying the empty dust station and how much is it

    • Found this with station and more suction power

4000pa of slurpity suck, only $300 after coupon. Is this comparable to to $200 ebay robovac from black friday? Which one is best for the dollary-do's I shell out?

    • I ended up grabbing one of these instead. Will see how it goes!

    • Also pulled the trigger on this one. For $300 don't think we can go too wrong.

  • Worth giving a shot for $200. Thanks OP

dam missed out, mob function actually looks good on this one according to reviews

  • +1

I wanted to buy a steam mop but got this instead. Hope its good. For anyone who wants there's a good price on the dock on its own

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/256102151862?chn=ps&_ul=AU&mkevt…

    • 275 odd dollars just to not have to empty it? It's cheap compared to some other units but I still can't bring myself to spend it.

      • Haha yea in the same boat.. pushes this to 575 in total then but 30 days not having to clean it.. lol

  • I just set mine up today and so far it's been decent, but I have some questions if anyone has one. I used the mop function, but it could get up on my very short pile rug, I fee like the mop was hitting the edge of the rug. My Xiaomi 1s/roborock has no issue with it. Also there was nowhere in the app I could see the map to be set no go zones etc. Lastly, it didn't seem to do such a great job against the walls, but I did see that there was a setting for quick that was on and it mentions that if it's on edge cleaning won't be as good as good, so will try turning it to the other setting next time.

Aside from that, it was a pretty easy set up and the mopping is half decent on the medium setting, might have to try heavy water flow and see if it's better as some stubborn spots are still there

    • How is it compares to your xiaomi/ roborock?

      • So far it's decent, I have had the Xiaomi for 3 years and it's been so good I never even used the app, just pressed the button and let it go. This has been good so far but it won't get up on my rug. I can't tell if this if it's because the carpet sensor goes off and it decides it shouldn't go up because the mop unit is in place, or if the thing is just getting stuck on the edge. It's a very low edge though and it does get up the small 1cm steel into the laundry fine, so it might be the carpet sensor.

Hopefully someone can let me know if it's the case with any of these robovacs that they lift the mop so they can do your carpet in the same run as when mopping tiles

        • Thank you for your review.
I got it delivered on Sunday but have not have time to get it set up and running yet. This is my first robot vac so i have nothing to compare to. However after purchased, i did some research and found alot of people on Ozbargain saying that Lidar navigation is a must in robot Vacuum. What do you think ? Is this robot worth keeping?

          • +1

@bargainfinder: I have done more testing and research, and it appears that the carpet sensor is what is stopping it from going onto the carpet, so that turns out by design.

Regarding the navigation, I don't think it's an issue of lidar vs non lidar, the main practical difference there is the robot being able to work in the dark. There is a potential difference in how precise the robot is when navigating, and further testing will let me know if it eventually will get into the edges. I can update when I have done so.

Other than that, this is the only robovac that I have seen with an oscillating mop, and it does a pretty good job. Considering at 199 it's also probably the cheapest mapping robot and its manufactured by one of the major brands, I expect I will be keeping mine.

            • +1

@Jackson: Thanks for the detailed reply.
I have set up my one today and done its first run after the initial mapping, it is very impressive and i am amazed by how technology has gone so far.
One thing that i notice is its dropped from my higher room to a lower room ( about 1 finger length in height ). Not sure if that is safe or it will damaged the unit one day. Other than that i am happy as it was able to go under my bed and clean under there. Which i and my wife have failed to do.

              • @bargainfinder: By one finger length, are you saying about 10 to 15 cm? That's quite a drop, you would have to watch it and decide for yourself if it handled it OK, but I would say that's too far. It is mentioned in the manual or app somewhere that if there's a drop e.g. Down stairs, you might need to get a virtual barrier or maybe just improvise something.

I did watch mine and it did get ad far into the corners for vaccuuming as possible, and it even seemed to turn away from the wall so that the mop can get closer to the wall also, which was quite nifty.

                • @Jackson: I got short finger, so about 7-8 cm. It drop the first time. The second run it did not so i ll havebto do more run to see. The robot manage well not hitting wall, but it does bump into chair and tables legs. Yesterday it manage to get under my 4 leg bar stools and could not get out of it, so i have to pause the cleaning, and physically took it out of there.

    • Set mine up yesterday too, seems pretty good and Mrs is happy so it's a win.

To set no go zone, click Map (next to the play button), then virtual boundry, create the boundry then tag one of the two options to indicate when the boundry should be enforced, either mopping or both mopping and vacuuming

      • I have done that, but when I saw it had a carpet sensor I thought maybe it would lift the mop unit and do my carpets. Maybe that's not been invented yet

  • +1

Also got mine yesterday. I did let it map most of my house so far and it was just on low vac. Tested the mop but nothing wow on that so far. Can I add some cleaning products to it? Mainly hoped it will do a good clean on the mop but just the vac is worth the 200 bucks. Cleaned a lot on low and it was really silent. Tx OP.

    • This is my experience so far also, quieter than the Xiaomi 1s, aside from the fact that you have a rattle sound from the oscillating mop. It hasn't been quite as good at getting to the corners and edges as the Xiaomi but I turn the anti-stuck (sorry can't remember the term) setting to basic and it says it will do better at the edges, will test and see how it goes.

Need to get some additional mop mads so that I can chuck this on in the wash and still mop, might be able to get something generic and cut to size, anyone got any experience with this?

  • Mmmm.. just got a notification stating the clean is done and then that the vac can't find the charging station… if this is normal I'm sending it back. Don't want to carry the the thing around

    • +3

Ok so got home and I have to just update what the issue was. The vac went under my kids bed and it got confused as to where to go I think as there is no light at all. The manual states yiu have to have lights on or have at least some kind of light like the sun coming in. I think because of how dark it was it had no idea so just chilled lol. Will create a virtual barrier and try it again.

      • That's the main draw back of camera vs lidar sensor navigation. Should be fine if the room has a window with an open blind. Cameras are cheaper than lidar units, a few bucks vs lidar for a first gen roborock was about 90 bucks or so not long ago when a mate had to replace his.

I don't mind companies using cheaper components if they can get them to work fine, and I don't run my robotvacs when I am aslee so won't impact me too much

  • +2

Just tried to share the robot with a family member and had issues, despite sharing to someone who has a pixel device, which should be just about reference these days. It did seem to work though to just log in on both phones with the same login.

    • +2

Thanks will be trying this tomorrow.

      • +2

Let me know how you go

  • +1

  • The $200 deal for yeedi vac 2 pro was back in stock around lunch time today when i checked. There was 2 units available, i suspect it might have been someone 's return. It is all gone now
