Anyone Heard of or Used Parca Logistics? Supposed to Be a Courier Service with Heavyweight Focus

Even though inflation was supposed to be almost slain now, courier prices just keep going up and up, even with discounts. I had a 6kg parcel go SYD-MEL B2B with my usual Couriers Please (my local franchise has good service) and it was the same price as AusPost to my surprise.

Both Transdirect and Interparcel have introduced this new company I've never heard of called Parca Logistics. They are said to focus on heavy/large consignments, with a longer transit time (e.g. 5 days SYD-MEL instead of 1-2 days for other couriers), and in exchange the price is significantly cheaper. I found the price to be competitive from 30kg onwards.

SYD-MEL 40kg they are quoting $44.64 which is quite good given that the cheapest alternatives are TNT at $55.16 and Couriers Please at $54.28. Yes I know Allied Express is cheaper but I don't want ATL services.

However, Parca have no reviews, no address, no phone number, no idea if their coverage is good or bad across all states, which seems dodgy to say the least.

    Well that’s reassuring

    To add to that list

    • No social media
    • Mark McGinley, Chief Executive Officer seems to have no affiliation to Parca
    • Their linked in seems dodgy AF: https://au.linkedin.com/company/parcalogistics?trk=public_pr…
    • Hoy Yen Hooper, Chief Operating Officer, has a faceless linkedin profile.
    • The website is registered under her as well, Hoy Yen Hooper, but seems she's using Mark McGinley's logistics reputation to build her own
    • Their ABN registered with the domain name: 35662662133 is Cancelled from 14 Dec 2023
    • The owner/creator of 'Parca Logistics' abn, 38 003 219 216 (https://connectonline.asic.gov.au/RegistrySearch/faces/landi…), is HI-TRANS EXPRESS PTY LTD. They seem legit, maybe call them and ask what Parca Logistics is all about, if they even know it.

    My advice: STAY AWAY

Mark McGinley … Hoy Yen Hooper

Ex-CEO & ex-COO of CouriersPlease, so they do have "credential". However judging from the reputation of CouriersPlease here, those might count as negative points.

  • How about Sendle?

    • Sendle seems to charge individual parcels (e.g. no support for multi-parcel consignment), with each parcels being under 25 kg strictly. Price would be $35.06 for 20kg, so over $70 for 40kg SYD-MEL.

  • Thanks all for the OzB detective work, I think I'll have to be prudent and avoid this one for now until it matures a bit - @hasher22 is right that the actual freight operator for Parca seems to be Hi-Trans Express based in Adelaide as per this article.

  • I wish i had read this earlier, i used transdirect for this Parca delivery, and I can not get a response from anyone, no phone number to call, just an contact form. 'They will respond in 24 hours' will see how it goes. Transdirect I use a lot and it is usually fine, its just the couriers.

  • Not recommend Parca, simple Syd to Syd route lost my parcel with no online tracking history at all after pick up. It is not worth to save that little money because their quote may be cheaper compared to the majors but if you are sending over $100 worth of goods, the risk of a potential lost is significant. When there is a dispute or confirmed lost , senders will suffer a huge loss when compo team apply a $100 excess off your product cost plus you will be hit with a standard $40 or more in chargeback merchant fee from your customer bank for non-delivery. We lost a minimium $140 plus hours of paperwork and online chasing.
