iPhone 14 Messages Sort Is Random

Hi OZB'ers,

Hoping someone can help me with this issue.

Recently my iPhone 14 has started to sort my messages randomly and not newest to oldest. I have tried a few of the tips on Google like switching time zone off and on, disable iMessage off and on, but so far none of these have worked.

It does sort them based on my recent searches in Safari, e.g. if I search for a trailer on Google then any message that contains the word trailer will appear at the top.

Please help :)

Benny

If your iPhone 14 is playing hide-and-seek with your messages and sorting them randomly instead of by their proper order, don't worry—I've got some solutions for you! 📱🔍

    1. Restore from a Backup:

      • It seems your phone might be having a few hiccups with its operating system. Let's try restoring from a backup:
        • Make an iCloud Backup:

        1. Go to Settings ➡️ Apple ID (your name at the top) ➡️ iCloud ➡️ iCloud Backup ➡️ Back Up Now.

          • Disable Find My iPhone:

        2. Navigate to Settings ➡️ Apple ID ➡️ iCloud ➡️ Find My iPhone, and turn off the switch (you'll need your Apple ID password).

          • Wipe your phone:

        3. Head to Settings ➡️ General ➡️ Reset ➡️ Erase All Content and Settings.

    2. Adjust Date & Time Settings:

      • This quirky issue might be related to time zones. Try this:
        1. Go to Settings ➡️ General ➡️ Date & Time.
        2. Disable Set Automatically.
        3. Change the time zone to something else.
        4. Force quit the Messages app (double-tap the home button and swipe the app upwards).
        5. Launch Messages again. Your messages should now be sorted by their time of arrival.

Remember to back up your iPhone before making any changes, just in case! 📥🔒

Hopefully, these steps will help you get your messages back in order. If not, consider reaching out to Apple support or visiting an Apple Store for further assistance. 🍎👍
