nope, I did also try to get that working on an older TV and couldn't. For some reason I can't get HDMI CEC on the xbox to work so need to use the remote to change the input. Might be the cable I have running through the roof?

On the speaker note, I have 2 of the ball type echos (can't remember the series) I've got those connected up to the fire stick and (profanity) me does it sound good. Haven't tested using it via the ARC channel yet.

        • Thanks for the info. I ended up using the Scenes function in broadlink to execute "source" "down arrow" "Ok" to change from HDMI to Tv

@Lizard Spock: hmm…I actually bought a tuya IR blaster that I was going to use for my air conditioner due to it's wifi being temperamental(I assume the antenna was damaged during install)…but managed to get it workable enough with some ghetto force reconnects courtesy of home assistant.

I could probably do similar to what you've done and capture each action and have it execute them, hopefully I won't have to dump each command and a wait sequence into a scene but it should be workable either way. Then I can have alexa execute the scene with voice commands.

Good thinking Lizard, thanks for the idea.

            • @knk: Hehe. I saw someone else had resorted to using scenes in a post on Reddit and thought that was brilliant. I wish it was my idea 😜. I can now easily run scenes to change from PC (HDMI1) to TV, Firestick to PC, TV to PC etc…

  • Mine arrived today. No indication and no emails.

  • Got mine about 2 weeks ago and it's been a good value so far. It's replacing a cheap "Ciiq"/Changhong brand smart tv of the same size that went kaput. I only used an external Chromecast with that tv anyway so this non-smart tv was a perfect deal for me. So far so good for the price. The feet attached easily enough and the packaging was decent. Picture quality and brightness are good for my use, but I'm just watching streaming services so I'm not really much of a quality purist. I appreciate the fact that it starts up in like 1 second instead of the 20-30 seconds of my old smart tv. The audio quality is probably the only aspect of it that's noticeably worse than my old tv (even after tweaking what I could in the settings), but it's fine for spoken word stuff, but I probably won't stream any music through it until if/when I get a soundbar. Overall I'm perfectly happy as I was getting ready to spend 3x as much for a smart tv with features I didn't even want.

One thing I did notice that has me a little concerned was when peeling off the tape attached to the screen, the colors warped near the tape being pulled a LOT more than I expected. This suggests to me that the plastic at the front of the LCD is probably very thin and the screen probably won't stand up to much physicality (if you've got kids throwing toys around, etc). I'd mount mine and get it out of the way if I could, but my room configuration won't really allow for that.

But yeah, not bad at all. No regrets so far.

  • Qld, arrived today after ordering 24th. Only comms was when person was already in carpark and ready to bring up.

  • Could someone comment on this, i feel like this shouldnt be happening.
I activated CEC both on tv and "chromecast with Google tv". Now when i press OFF button on either remote then only tv is switched off, but whatever was playing on CCWGTW keeps playing. There is no way to switch off the chromecast, because both remotes switch off the tv only.
    How can i fix this?

    • Do you have the Chromecast connected to HDMI 3? Also, did you connect it to another HDMI before? I had a soundbar with the same issue and it was because the TV could not forget that it was connected to HDMI 2. I had to do a factory reset and make sure the soundbar was connected to HDMI 3 after factory reset.

      • Thanks mate. Plugged chromecast into hdmi 3 and that fixed the issue.

  • fyi.. qld received mine yesterday . Monday 20th.
    it works. looks ok.
communication via email on Monday 13th to pick-up at warehouse with contact number .
called pick-up warehouse and arranged for delivery . i asked they said yes.
Monday 20th morning, sms contact number to check if it was dispatched … yes, last week.
delivery was made within a few hours after sms.
the guy had 2 others to deliver.

  • Finally received mine after numerous follow ups. The colour seems really washed. Not a good panel overall but at $299 it's still a bargain.
