  • Officeworks won't price match anyone that requires a membership

Not true. This is the second phone that I have price matched with Costco. Will post receipt shortly.

      • Depends on the store my friend.

It works when you are price beating over the phone. I did it and it was successful.

Excellent - bought one yesterday from OW, got home, opened it and was a fake! Took to Apple store to confirm, they confirmed and wrote me a letter, took back to OW who were shocked and checked camers. Turns out it was a returned phone from a previous customer, but they have the skills now to switch phone and reseal like its never been opened. Worth checking phone when home, most obvious sign was box said black and ours was white, then there was no silent switch…and just the build quailty was so different. Will attempt again from OW but open in store this time!

    • Really? Wow, so OW were able to confirm via the serial or something that it was a return? Otherwise it's amazing they'd believe you!

      • +3

I guess i was there the day before so have no reason to be back otherwise. Person in the Apple store mentioned he had seen a few fake 15 pro max's bought from market place, but none from OW. It's there he told me how they have now seen the fake reseal boxes more so in the past few months so must be a skill scammers are learning. Weird thing with the serial number, it still wasn't activated according to their Apple Data so mustn't have been turned on yet with a SIM card or the like…although i am not sure if that activates the serial being registered!

Didn't even know this was a thing until today. But glad to know what to look for next time

    • Wow.

    • How? That's crazy

    • Shit I better open the phone straight away after purchase just in case to make sure the phone is real etc
      Crazy stuff

    • Which OW was it ?

      • OW East Vic Park

    • Was the phone functional?

      • didnt try to turn it on

    • +1

Do you have pics and vids of it?

      • wifey did an insta story and tagged OW who replied to bring instore. Don't think i know how to share a vid on here though

  • Officeworks price match Costco without any questions - I bought the phone from OW when it was on sale with Costco. They price beat it without asking anything.

    • Sounds like a new thing, I doubt my local OW would match price to Costco coz of the membership but who knows never tried (and specifically for an iPhone)

      • +2

I was thinking same but my local did - Eastern Creek NSW.

  • Its made in India?

    • Last one I bought in Feb was made in China.

  • It’s cheaper last month when Harvey Norman and Amazon has that extra 10% off.

Thanks OP, Officeworks call centre price beat without a problem.

I love to see people buying a ~$2000 phone.

    Take that Inflation.

For many people this is their gateway to the world - personal computer, business running tool, communicator and information storage device that they use for several hours every single day. Some people want this thing to be the nicest possible and happy to pay the price.

    • In my case it was a base model 15, not the Pro Max. But yes, I agree, a lot of money.

      • im waiting for iphones to cost 3k LOL

Just now bought from Officeworks using ultimate gift cards. Paid $1852.49.

  • Tried at Albany WA. They said they wouldn’t do it and subtly suggested others shouldn’t do it either bcs the purchase in Costco involves membership and they price match with ones that are available for general public and not exclusive member driven ones.

Wasted 3 hours of my time and fuel :( as I live in regional WA

    • +1

Sorry to hear. Perhaps you should try price matching over the phone next time if the store is that far.

      • Yup :( was a little greedy !! Learnt my lesson.

  • +2

Thanks OP, just bought 15 Pro 128 for 1520$ in Officeworks. No problems with matching, the girl just asked which store we are matching and said that it will be a good price. Coburg VIC

And they found a dead body which had only one kidney, the investigators suspect the person might have bought an iPhone before he died.

      Must be you then.

    • Poor you :)).

Managed to price match with CostCo this morning at OW Woolloongabba BNE and ended up paying $1852.49 with multiple GC. The lady didn't ask anything about CostCo membership card and just went straight to the payment. Really appreciate her help.

    Edit :
Amazon AU is selling for $1949 now so might be worth to try to price match with Amazon in case they refuse to price match CostCo.

Can confirm that they will price match with Amazon. Did the price match in store 👍

    • OW couldn’t find the model number on Amazon, but offered to price match with Costco. Purchased from Kew East, VIC

  • Been seeing a lot of discount on iPhones recently. Probably coinciding with the drop in iPhone sales worldwide. They have really out priced themselves and have no choice but to drop their prices to compete with the likes of Samsung and Huawei.

  • Hey guys, just wonder if it’s possible to price beat over the phone and pay by gift card in store? Or I have to use a credit card to pay for it over the phone as well. If not, then I’ll have to price beat in store.

    • +1

You will be asked to complete payment over the phone. Not sure if you can use gift cards on the phone though.

      • Just called and confirm to pay by gift card, i have to go instore and price beat. Over the phone, only debit/credit card accepted.

  • anyone knows how to get price matched by placing order on OW website? thanks in advance.

    • +1

Cannot be done - only in-store or over the phone.

      • thanks mate

  • Price matched at Doncaster VIC this morning.

They couldn't find the corresponding part/model number on Amazon; told them Costco is the same price and he said much easier to price match Costco.

  • +1

Thanks OP, I bought one today from OW that price beat Amazon's $1949 price and paid with Ultimate gift cards that are 10% off @ ALDI
    https://www.aldi.com.au/about-aldi/aldi-gift-cards/gift-card…

So the total price came down to $1666.55

    • That is quite the discount - well done!

      • Thanks, If you want you can put the Aldi link for the cards in your post for any future buyers

        • Did you buy 4x Ultimate Everyone ($500) cards?? can you purchase an ammount exactly $1667 ??

          • @Quoc11: No I bought 18 x $100 and 1 x $50 cards
I think you only get the 10% discount on the $50 and $100 cards
and then paid the remaining $1.55 in cash

            • @TRDSupra: Ahhh thanks. Nice to know you can use that many gift cards. I think I saw in the past some stores allow a maximum number of gift cards per transaction.

            • @TRDSupra: Saw the Aldi website, said 5 max per customer… Were you able to buy all 19 cards by yourself? or did you need some more people to help. Just wondering so i can prepare. ta

              • +1

@Quoc11: The lady at the counter didn't say anything and I purchased 19 cards by myself but she had to do it 5 cards per transaction.
And you are right about the terms and conditions of 5 cards per customer.
