According to skytrax, they are number 9 just below Cathay, and one of the ten 5-star airlines. Not sure I trust skytrax, but they are definitely not budget.

They’re most definitely not a budget airline. Among one of the best Asian airlines, which are usually to a higher standard at least in terms of soft product than Western airlines anyway. Definitely miles better than Qantas.

They only fly in and out of Brisbane though AFAIK.

    • The world's Top 10 Airlines of 2023 voted for by travellers around the world.

Airline staff do travel a lot so I guess that isn't a complete lie.

I have used them twice before to fly to/from Europe. They were really good (much better than Q), so much so that I always include them in my searches for intercontinental flights.

  • The 15h10min hop from Taiwan to Milan would be punishing, but why is it so long when the same flight back is only 12h20min?

      Trade winds mate

    • Same reason it’s 30-45mins quicker flying from Perth to Melbourne than Melbourne to perth

I've used them previously to Europe and found them to be a pretty decent airline. Definately better than Qantas.

Flown EVA from Bali to Taiwan return & both legs were on the Hello Kiity themed plane. It was awesome

    • Do you have photos?

Back in 2019, TPE to HKG. Everything was Hello Kitty, including the plastic cutleries and paper cups.

        • That's the one we caught last year, with all the cutlery etc.

EVA is one of the best Airlines and pity they don't fly to Melbourne. Great Price though

Can also pay a little more to stop over Taiwan for a few days. Totally worth it.

      Can't wait to visit Taiwan

      • Food Safari!!!

    • Accommodation prices for Taipei have gone up the roof in the recent years, but food is still OK and tasty.

Always wondered why Eva only flys to Brisbane and not Sydney and Melbourne!!!

    • Larger Taiwanese population in Brisbane

      • Would explain the shortage of China Airline reward seats through Qantas through Bris but not syd/mel. Also couldn't have helped when they started offering points seats to Europe through TPE so even non-TW travellers would've hopped on.

        • Earlier this year, I was on the Taiwan-Chitose flight, it was full of Aussies because Syd-Chitose is cheaper than any of the Jap airlines. Also change over was at Taipei and is international-internation which is easier and quicker unlike the changing over at Tokyo where you have to check out international and check in domestic.
