Origin Lowers Some Plan Rates - Existing Customers Need to Manually Request Them

This is just a heads up for those unaware rather than a complaint. Energy companies are what they are. I was on the Origin Go Variable plan - 12 month plan, rates not fixed, NSW (Ausgrid) - daily supply charge 86.053c and general usage 33.044 c/kWh. The Origin Go Variable plan on their website said the supply charge was 80.19 ¢/day and general usage 30.79 ¢/kWh. I emailed them and they confirmed rates had just come down, but existing customers have to request the reduction (unlike rate increases, which they have applied to me as an existing customer in the past).

    So I switched. Too easy.

    Does your last bill make any mention of cheaper options?

    Thanks but it appears I am on the cheapest possible by default
    in Qld- which is more expensive than NSW - daily supply 120.592 c/pday general usage 28.839c/kWk

    The Origin Go Variable plan on their website said the supply charge was 80.19 ¢/day and general usage 30.79 ¢/kWh.

    When I check it says supply charge 97.97 ¢/day and general usage 24.40 ¢/kWh.

    I'm currently paying supply charge 85.298 ¢/day and general usage 21.298 ¢/kWh.

    That's a 15% price increase…😲

    Don't think companies can change anyone's plan automatically (possibly law and policy reasons) and customers need to keep researching and change it.

    The only time I know a company can force a plan change is when the customers plan is outdated, archived or no longer deemed fit for use and a 60 day notice needs to be issued on options.

      Don't think companies can change anyone's plan automatically

      They do it all the time to me… They keep moving me back to the 'default' plan unless I choose a different one beforehand.

    wow, those prices. In the ACT the Origin go variable plan is 74c per day supply and 18.455 c per kWh (or might be cheaper, thats the rate I get). Admittedly we need to run heating for 4-5 months of the year so use a fair bit more than many places.

    Thanks, got the exact same rate reduction that you did and seemed to have processed instantly. So stupid I would never have noticed unless I saw this post.
