          Not sure sista..

  • When does the SIM card need to be activated for the cashback? I don’t see it anywhere

  • +6

It’s always up to everyone’s circumstances but I’d rather pay the extra $110 not to be on Optus and go with boost on the full Telstra network.

    • +8

The missus just switched to Optus from boost and she gets 5G at home while im stuck on 4G. So yes, depends on where you are and what you need.

      • +12

At home is the only location where I don't care how good the signal is.

        • yup def agree with you.

signal dont matter at home at all along you can do simple calls and sms.

most of the time ur on wifi at home as well.

        Real 5G or "5G"?

      • The question is what speed you're getting!

        • -1

          speeds depends on different locations.

this sim is speed capped to 150 mbps.

    • +1

Depends on your location. I was with Boost for ~5 years and had issues all around town, especially when I'd visit my parents ~20 mins away - ozbargain wouldn't even load. Switched to Optus a few months back and I haven't had an issue since…

  • Activate by? Can't find on website

    • Plans may no longer be available or may have changed if you do not activate your SIM within 30 days of purchase.

  • Does Optus prepaid have the one number thingo - so phone and watch have same number?

    • +1

nope its only on the postpaid plans

      • +1

Thanks! the big 3 are still holding out and milking that for all its worth :(

    Cashrewards and Optus?
    No, thanks

Only thing which tempts me is Optus 5G is ridiculously fast in my area (1.6Gbps+) relative to Telstra and Vodafone's 5G… but… Optus.

EDIT: Just read it's capped at 150Mbps… even Vodafone 5G's 500Mbps in my area trumps this (and Telstra's 5G is 1.2Gbps and 4GX is about 700Mbps).

    • Telstra Prepaid (as well as Boost) 5G is also capped at 150Mbps just an FYI.

      • Really? Must be a recent thing as I thought Telstra wasn't capped before when I bought my MIL a prepaid sim and speedtested her phone.

Either way I'm still on a legacy Telstra 4G plan and have a prepaid Vodafone 5G sim on a 365 day expiry (but they give bonus/free data out so often that I never need to pay for data add ons!)

    • Telstra's 5G is 1.2Gbps

Depending on when this was tested, in Sydney this would have changed. Telstra n78 spectrum had a reduction from 80mhz to 60mhz

      • Would've been whenever the iPhone 12 came out and Telstra gave my father a free 5G trial on his prepaid sim… I've always been on 4G but never found the speed particularly lacking.

Or in 2021 when my MIL was here.

        • Ahh, yeah. Would have changed then.

    • May be telco should quote real-life speed & not theoretical-speed '150Mbps speed cap'.

      I'm using a 2023 phone, metro-area, 4G+ network, off-peak hrs & torrent-permitting: I got 6 to 8 MBps cited via qBittorrent-sw….higher-end.

Optus, the choice of Gerry Harvey. Hard no!

  • How much os Optus Sports for prepaid customers?

  • I've used Optus more in comparison to Telstra and have not been disappointed, this is a very good deal, wish I had not bought Boost sim already for 12 months.

I did this deal a couple of years ago through Cashrewards for 2 services for my elderly parents. Never got the CashRewards at all even with follow up. #scamwatch

Just putting in my experiences with Cashrewards. I've found that the automatic claim is not always automatic, but when I did a manual claim, I did end up getting the cash back eventually. It's annoying, but I have always gotten the cash back when applying through them so far.

      • +2

Even if you put a claim in. It can still get rejected. I've have claimed several times for different things and its been mixed result and depends on the vendor.

Saying that tracking on both Cash Rewards and Shop Back have been terrible recently.

Also some company increase price if you use Cash Rewards like Agoda. I found the cheapest price was via trip advisor instead of Cash Rewards or HSBC 10% off. Note these are not the main room advertised when you click on the hotel.

My lifetime cash back on cash rewards is over 1000.

Hmm I'll probably jump back to More with Commbank with a 30% off 12 month plan for a bit more after this 3 months for $10 with Felix rather than taking Optus. No offence to OP, that is a pretty decent deal from a very shit company.

  • -3

It's sad when Floptus, Helstra or Vodafail are the only choices of network Australians get.

    • You should start up your own then.

  • Can I purchase the plan on 26/5/2024 and activate it in 8/2024?

  • Do you get the Optus sport discounted rate with this?

  • +1

expired? CR says only $26 cashback

    • Definitely expired. OP needs to update.

  • Can anyone comment how Optus handles customer information after the debacle of 2022? Have they changed anything?

  • Its now $26 cashback
