For those confused, as I was, this appears to be software you can use to create and manage/repair virtual machine images, not the software to actually run them.

For example, I could use this software to create an image of my old desktop PC, but to actually run it as a virtual machine I'd need to use something like VMware Fusion that I have on my Macbook Pro. (Not that I have any space on its hard drive.)

Just beware, you'll have to click on the the setting (cog) button on the Paragon Page to "Unlike".
The normal method of clicking on the 'Like' Button, and going 'Unlike' doesn't seem to work..

    • any way for a link that doesnt need facebook like?

  • I've been using the free Paragon Backup & Recovery software for a few years now, and it's pretty good. Supports shadow copy etc. I suspect a lot of the tech in the virtualisation manager is replicated in that ie you can use the software to backup a machine, but also use it to do a P2V (to Vmware, M'soft, or Virtualbox). The link be here: http://www.paragon-software.com/home/br-free/. Don't need faceplant to get it, but you do need to give them your email to get the license key….. haven't been swamped with spam from them, so pretty decent deal IMHO.

[edit: Ahhhh. Was using the 2011 Advanced version - from reading the feature list, the 2012 version doesn't appear to include support for P2V…]

  • Dammit… just days after looking at this bargain I actually need to do a P2V transfer. Anyone with a spare licence? :/

    • Paragon Virtualization Manager 9.5 Personal which I posted above also does P2V.

      • You're 100% right! LOL. I literally tried 3 different ways (and 2 days of my life) before remembering you posted that above and Paragon worked first go.
Mental note to self, also includes in a backup the active bootable partitions, even if they aren't your primary windows partition. Stupid Toshiba recovery partition… grrr!
