Why is the S4 coming down in price so much, but you still have the HTC One at $799?

  • +7

Please note the difference between the two models.

I9500 has an octa-core Exynos chipset, and NO LTE support.
I9505 has a quad-core Snapdragon chipset, and LTE support.

Exynos is notorious for being closed source and difficult to work with, so it has very luck-luster custom rom support, where as Snapdragon is very open and well known.

If you need LTE and/or custom rom support pay the extra $30 for the I9505.

    • Thanks for that. Which chip is faster though? Wouldn't the 8-core chip be faster than the 4-core chip?

      • octa core processor has 4 slower and 4 faster chip set. It doesn't necessarily mean it's faster. It was first introduced in samsung effort to extend battery life. But, it turned out, snapdragon quad-core set is faster, and had almost identical battery life.

So, yes. Go for the quad core.

      Put it in title

    • shipping from HK or Australia? Delivery times? If warranty claim has to be made, will buyer have to ship at their own expense?

      • Hi,

Please allow up to 5-10 business days for item to arrive from when payment has been verified.

In the event of a warranty claim Unique Mobiles will supply a return postage paid label.

        Thankyou

        • 5-10 days? damn !

        • +1

You know i really hate it when you keep dodging the question where you are shipping from. I know you ship from HK but not everyone does. If you have nothing to hide, then just say it. There is nothing wrong with that, but by dodging the question like you do, it appears as if you have something to hide. I know it puts me off buying from you and i can imagine it would do the same with many other prospective buyers who just want you to be up front and honest.

        • So, if you know they ship from HK why are you still questioning it?

        • I didn't. Another user did (sct911) and I've seen other people asking this seller the same question before and the question was always dodged while happy to answer most other questions.

  • crap, I bought two LTE version from Kogan for $749 two days ago. Ah well, will claim the price reduction on the CC when it happens at Kogan.

  • Does anyone know if 28 Degrees price protection works with Unique Mobiles?

    • yes.got 140 bucks back for my note 2

      • Awesome thanks mate

    • How does the price protection work with staggering claims?

What if it's $600 next week? (Also does it include the use of coupons in the claim?)

      • You can only claim once in the 6 month period

        • Just wait till its close to six months left and then claim when you see a good price. I paid 638 for my note 2 in october and claimed 119 back for it last month.

        • fyi,you can claim multiple times. i claimed like 4 times.

        • Did…did you get your phone for free then??

        • nah, four claims add up to $140.

  • Ship from HK or Australia? how long?

    • Most likely from HK.

      website clearly states "Import direct"

  • bought one , awesome. I trust an Australian seller more than overseas companies like DWI or Eglobal

didnt pay for insurance, i assume product will have tracking number

  • It was $799 delivered from the same shop just two weeks ago. How the price has come down.

Anyone with 28 degrees insurance should be happy.

      • What's the annual fee cost for this card and what's the percentage of monthly interest?

        • +3

          annual fee

          $0

          percentage of monthly interest

Doesn't matter if you pay off your balance every month. Actual real OzBargainers would pay off the balance BEFORE the statement so they don't have to pay the buyer protection fee :)

        • -1

Doesn't matter if you pay off your balance every month.

It does matter. What, even 1000% percent interest, will you still signup?

Found it thru google and it's 20.99% annual percentage rate for purchases and cash. It's more than my current Visa card.

        • +2

          It does matter

No it doesn't as if you pay off every single month, you don't need to pay anything.

What, even 1000% percent interest, will you still signup?

Probably not, as there could be a month where I might not pay it off.

Found it thru google and it's 20.99% annual percentage rate for purchases and cash

It's also on their website. It's more than most cards but they have to make money somehow. Think of it as a debit card which gives your merchandise and price protection with zero international transaction fees for free.

        • +6

I've been using credit cards for 15 years owned a dozen or so cards ranging from 10% to 21% interest rate — but I've never paid a cent of credit card interest to the bank.

There are people who use credit card for convenience, for reward points, etc. For them it makes sense to pay off the balance each month, and the interest rate does not really matter (assuming that the card has an interest free period).

For those who use credit card as an unsecured loan… Well I think they would be better off without a credit card.

  • Is it an unsealed box?

Will uniquemobiles give us the difference if the price down a further $10 or more in the next 2 weeks?

Just read the bad reviews, it changes my mind…

    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/unique-mobiles.html?ref_r=…

    • i'm worried now :S . I paid via paypal but havent received confirmation email from uniquemobile and the 'my orders' tab says that i have no orders.

Will uniquemobiles give us the difference if the price down a further $10 or more in the next 2 weeks?

Lol, why should they? If you agree to buy it at this price I don't see why any store should pay the difference if it drops in value.

      • Lol, why should they? If you agree to buy it at this price I don't see why any store should pay the difference if it drops in value.

Most in-store retailers will offer price difference within 14 days!

  • How long will I need to wait til it reduces to $500 do you reckon?

    • 3-5 months is my guess.

  • I dont understand why Samsung are not releasing a bigger version. at least 32 gb, if not 64gb, I mean how many apps can fit on a 16gb, when most of it is already filled with the OS and bloatware. I would buy a bigger version straight away, but 16gb, no thanks.

Or a 64GB HTC One. but no, these companies want to restrict us.

    • Might be because 16GB are the most bought model(since it's the cheapest), so they may be dedicating materials and resources to fill that demand first.
