PS Vita Memory Cards (4GB $26, 8GB $34 and 16GB

50

Hi All,

After being suckered into the recent $199 deal from JB, I was a little surprised that I couldn't actually play my free game without a memory card, so began investigating purchase options.

Google helped me spot the fact that The Good Guys appear to be having a clearance of some PS Vita memory cards, saving around $10 for a 8gb card - and figured I'd post to help anyone else caught in the same situation (i.e, impulse buy without actually researching the product fully…whoops :P).

Available in store and online (listing price on the shelf in my local store (Morayfield QLD) was normal pricing, but the discounted price came up in their system at checkout). Enjoy!

The 8GB price is okay, but most people have already opted for the $44 PS Vita Mega Pack at JB and Big W, which bundles a 8GB memory card with LittleBigPlanet Vita, Motorstorm RC and five other games. Still, if anyone's after it on its own, good price.

      Why does everyone forget Wipeout?

    • Yeah, fair call - I figured I have PS+ on my PS3, and had only planned to get the free games from that (though my reasoning isn't always the best lol) :D

    • ^exactly this. Some people are even buying the pack just for the games, then selling the card on ebay for $35~ and investing that into a bigger card. The pack can also be around for as low as $40 I think.

People should not be considering the 4gb or 8gb cards. You'll find all the space used up quick if you use your Vita.

    • Does it fill quickly if you're just using it for saves though, or is it only when you start downloading games?

      • saves don't take up much space at all…

      • Alot of games the patch is also the save, COD for example is 400MB patch and save combined

I can't believe these prices are considered bargains! I guess it's the propriety technology. How are theses compare to high speed micro ad cards?

    • Totally agree - I've got a bunch of different memory from over the last few years from cameras that I was sure would just slot into the vita…with no success - the claims by Sony is that by using their own special type of memory cards, they can reduce piracy, though in reality, like most anti-piracy policies, I think it's only the people who do the right thing who tend to pay :D

      • It's not about anti piracy its about ripping off owners of the vita by forcing them to purchase memory cards only they produce.
They did the same with the PSP memory stick duo anyone ?

        • It just put me off from buying one as I really do want one. The 64gb card is more than half the price of the console itself, it's unbelievable!

          There isn't a 64GB card.

I must be thinking of the 32 gb card then, even worst value!

        • You could use the duo in Sony branded cameras (I was lucky enough to own both at the same time), but it was still overpriced.

    • Yea, they should've just used micro sd cards :(

  • I wanted to go all digital with my Vita, but the price of Memory Cards turned me off that idea, and as such I only own a few games. Very disappointing.

Yes I knew memory card prices when I bought the console, but I buy all consoles so I wasn't about to not buy it just cause of that. Was hoping Sony would have come to their senses by now at least. Maybe when they sell less than 20k units a month in the US (which by the looks of it isn't too far away) they'll realise the Vita is absolutely failing and drop the prices by 50% at least.

    • My plan is to download vita games to my PS3, then just transfer and play as needed (I would only be playing 1 or 2 games at a time on the Vita - yeah, it's a bit of an inconvenience, but worth it to enable me to get the cheaper memory card).

      • I've gone digital games only due to being a PS+ member and 32gb hasnt been all used up yet with about 10-12 games on it

  • I'm not sure if it's a good deal about the other sizes but the 16GB seems overpriced. I saw a site cybersquare.com.au selling the 16GB at $56 with free shipping where as Good Guys selling for $64 + $2 delivery.
