230

$249 one way Sydney to Macau.

Sale dates: 27-30 March
Travel period: 14 April-30 June

Macau is only a little over an hour away from Hong Kong by boat so it may be ideal if you want to go to Hong Kong or China.

Look out for the $105 fares ex tax. At the moment they're very easy to find! Total adds up to $470.95 return. Not sure about any credit card surcharges etc.

Advertised as "SERIOUSLY, ALL SEATS TO MACAU ONLY $249" so you can probably be flexible with dates too!

EDIT: 20kg checked baggage IS INCLUDED!

Any bookings made on or after 1st April will have no included baggage, 15kgs baggage will be available to purchase at $20 so its a good opportunity to miss the new fee. http://www.flyvivamacau.com.au/beforeYouFly/NewCheckedBaggag…

  • Cheap!!

  • Thanks for posting this!
Sydney gets few LCC fares direct to Asia and this is one of them.
Some people need to fly this airline (on pretty old aircraft!) so that we don't lose the service.

(Why I support this deal: I'm totally sick of JetStar promoting their sales, then dropping the route and replacing it with either a series of tedious indirect flights (2->6 flights!) or cancelling my convenient booking and replacing it with a 7AM flight! :()

    • I fully agree. I'm sad to see that theyre increasing baggage fees from next month, and reducing checked luggage to 15kg - but baggage will be 20kg for this sale, included in the fare. Still waiting for Air Asia to come to Sydney!!

  • Very good find. Apparently they are thinking of flying to Melb and Brisbane in 2009 which would be great.

  • +1

If you have a friend can read Chinese and help you book flights, below is a good Chinese flight booking site. Most flights from Zhu Hai(30 minuets from Macau airport) are below AU$40 to other major cities in China.

  • not a bad deal - I paid $550 with Qantas from Melbourne to HK, with the buy 1 get 1 free deal to HK earlier!

  • $223.32 MFM-SYD on the return, for a return total of $471.95 inclusive of taxes. For a Thurs-Sun schedule!

Wouldn't it be nice if Macquarie Airports decided they needed to make SYD attractive for Air Asia, Tiger etc and make it worth their while. We've already lost Norfolk Air and I imagine Viva Macau's not making any money here either.

Hopefully some OzBargain readers get in on this and can report on their ticketing.

  • You are flying in an ancient fleet of 767's by the way guys. Sometimes a stopover may occur along the way for around 30-45 mins due to the inefficient fleet they lease at the moment…

Might be lucky to get a entire row to yourself sometimes, most flights on this route run empty, dont know how this airline survives..beyond me!

  • I've heard some bad stories about Viva Macau.
Has anyone actually booked and flown with them recently?

    • Suicid3,
Best to just google frequentflyer.com.au, flyertalk.com and tripadvisor.com and probably the LP forums to get any reports of the Viva flights.

      Cheers,
      Bizi
