All Asphalt games started to have in app purchases. Still a great game though, you can play without buying unless you really suck at driving lol.

      • +1

        yep i know

great game, just wanted to point out that it has inapp's

    • -7

In-App purchases should be banned, especially in games.

      • +6

So the developers that made this game don't deserve to be paid for their months/years if hard work?

Remember way back when (5 years ago or less) when no one would question spending $80 on a new game, not when someone mentions a free or 99cent game with optional in app purchases for a dollar or so people throw their hands up.

        • +1

I'm happy to pay $80 for a game and would be OK with in-app purchases if they weren't so widely abused

E.g. The low-life scum who scatter in-app charges through games for little kids.
          Its disgusting

Slightly less disgusting is game play being interfered with "pay more money to continue" crap.

        • I hate it when people use the "think of the children" excuse. With an iPhone, a parent can disable in-app purchases through the settings in "Parental Controls".

          Here's a how-to:

I bought Asphalt 7 for something like $5.49 and could now theoretically pay ten times that for Asphalt 8 (but won't).

I wasn't "thinking of the children or Asphalt 8", just having a rant generally about the assholes pushing in-app crapware

        • The way how they model the game price is different now. They start off with low price or even free to get the app. Once you are hooked, start charging you all the in-app purchase.

Either you don't bother with the app at all, or get sucked in. Basically you can't enjoy the game as much if you do not pay any in-app purchase.

I might as well go back to proper gamehelds like PSVita, PSP, NDS etc or consoles.

That kind of pricing model do not work well with me, not sure about others. Especially those gamers who are in the 30s I don't think they all like in-app purchases

      • +1

Nobody force you to buy anything,

Agree for the most part because so often games are ruined by them because the devs just don't get the balance right: the game is too hard for most people (count me in this group) unless you purchase items. Whereupon the game becomes stupidly easy so you don't want to play it anymore.

It's not always the case - Real Racing 3 is an example of IAP not ruining a game - but it usually is IMO.

I usually cheat/use mods or use Freedom to avoid paying for items in any case which works for most IAP (not Golf Star though damn those devs :p

        • They deliberately made it hard unless you purchase in-app items….Its designed to be that way. Hence the reason I don't bother with.

        • neonlight, there are 2 types:

          1. The game is balanced and designed to entertain. You're playing against the AI and often there are 3 levels of difficulties to suit most players. The items you can buy are handy but won't be game breaking. every one will be at the same level. Most popular tactic is to limit the amount of time you can play. So people can either take a break or pay to continue playing.

          2. the game is designed for players versus other players and wants to feel like a boss. this is a different need. These players are willing to pay to outdo others. The tactic here to limit the power items. Those who can afford to pay more will be more powerful. This is where the "pay to win" model is suitable.

If you find the game too hard, you should check the difficulty level. If you feel uncomfortable with the game, then may be that game isn't for you.

      • hear what you're saying.
however free-mium is the model that works well and has worked for many games.
you hate it but plenty of people love it. They prefer micro transactions over a big upfront cost.

I am not asking you to like it

and there is a way around it….. :p

    • And the "Master" and "Supreme" pack for $109 each.
      Who buys these?

      • +1

        Unsupervised 6 year old kids?

    • Too many in-app purchase I will give it a miss. I don't consider freeiums great at all.

IMO, Free app should be free and no content should be purchased. I like the old apps where content is all included.

Surely no one force you to buy in game content, but I just don't see the point if I know I'm not getting the "full" thing at this "free" price.

  • Don't you mean leave friction in the dust?

    • Is this some kind of inside joke? Both are correct

Never understood why the Asphalt games are so popular myself, the car physics are so lifeless they're just utterly boring to play. Played one played them all. Someone recently described it as like pushing a cardboard box around to me. I like decent arcade racers eg, NFS Most Wanted so it's not that I don't like arcade style driving games.

I wasn't at all impressed with this iterations graphics either though my experience was on an Android Note 1 and I couldn't find any graphic mods (which is likely why Asphalt 7 looked much better for me than this).

Still the price is nothing if not right - good deal fwiw.

  • thanks op

  • You cannot be serious, I just bought it this arvo, literately 5 hours ago.

As a true Ozbargainer,I will buy it again with my other 3 accounts.

    • I was looking at it yesterday but didnt buy because of the massive size. Changed my mind when it dropped from 99cents to free.

  • daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn I bought this game 2 weeks ago and now it's free :(

    • I bought it 2 days ago :P. I still think its easily worth $10 its a great game.

  • Fact: All driving games are terrible without the use of a gamepad or steering wheel.

    • Yep there's just no such thing as a proper sim with basic and inaccurate controls. An arcade style racer though should be passable.

  • Asphalt 7 was HORRIBLE so hopefully this is better than both 6 and 7. Despite the In app purchases

  • IAP only came to effectt since people
Stopped paying premium, iphone games alone should have ended of with the trend of what console prices are. There are still some iphone gaming companies that charge games from 3,4,5,7,10-$60. It encourages devs if you would just pay for the full prices than waiting it out to be for free or half price promos.

I think society started to crumble since people
Incorrectly applied new paragraph rules mid-sentence!

      • That got a giggle from me ;)

  • This game is great, its by far the only gameloft game i would actually recommend. Im doing mobile game reviews and in the midst of reviewing this game. its the only game im going to give 5 stars.. its just that good

    • Well obviously you haven't played many Gameloft games at all… :P

  • I just spent a frustrating ten minutes trying to get this to download for free from the Google Play store for my samsung tablet.

Then I read the f'ing post correctly and downloaded it to my ipad.

    Thanks OP !!

  • This is the problem with iOS (and large apps) I have 1.9gig free and it still says there isn't enough room to install it.

    • You need double the amount of the app. So for example, you need 3gb to install a 1.5gb game.(1.5 for download, 1.5gb for install). After the game finishes installing, the download is removed and it only takes up 1.5gb (or around it)

  • I bought this for 99 cents first day game came out. I think the in app purchases are a bit over the top, but you kind of expect it in an a grade title for 99 cents nowadays. The developers have to make money some how, and you can still play by grinding it out. These types of games are only casual for me, so I pick up do a race or two and happy to slowly progress. Riptide 2 my favourite race game out of recent one. :-) nfsmw is still the best car one for me:-)
