Vodafone help - Mobile payment plan renewal

Hello,

In two weeks, I will have paid off my iPhone 4s on Vodafone's $50 Infinite 24M plan + phone. I am interested in upgrading to an iPhone 5s, so was thinking of renewing the $50 Infinite 24M plan which includes the 5s at $24/month over 24 months.

In other words, the minimum over 24 months will be: 24x50 + 24x24 = $1776

Given I have to stay with Vodafone for work reasons, are there better alternatives to getting a 5s?

Thanks,
JB

Call the retention department at Vodafone and negotiate.

Call them and say you no longer want to stay with them unless you get a good deal. I'm sure you can get the additional $24 a month to $10 a month

    • That's a minimum to look at. My friend got it for 0 a month extra as he has been with voda for a long time and wanted to switch.

  • So I got in touch with the Vodafone retention team and they played hardball. They said that, as an organisation, Vodafone have made a conscious decision to put money towards network upgrades and improved customer service, rather than continuing to throw money at plan retention. Meh.

In the end, the guys said the best he could do for a iPhone 5s is wipe off $3/mth from the monthly phone payment plan.

    • Lol my contract end last few days and they gave me the same discount as you and now im on telstra prepaid ($30 sim for $10 @auspost still available)

  • Heh. I just called back to seal the deal, and Vodafone said the $3 offer on the mobile payment plan was only valid for 24hrs. Now they're only willing to cut $2 off the monthly plan.

  • Quick update if anyone cares….

Called back to Vodafone, requested to speak with retention department, and was able to get the following deal on my old "$50 Infinite 24M plan with new iPhone 5S 32GB" without too much pain:

    As per online: $50 + $37 = $87
    With retention negotiation: $50 + $26 = $76

  • so instead of paying $24 for the phone you ended paying $2 more???

    • Yeah, good catch. I should have been more clear. My original post referred to their "new" $50 Infinite 24M plan which only has Voda-to-Voda unlimited. In the end I got a new phone on my existing "old" plan (which is no longer available) of unlimited calls to any standard national numbers.

So, yes, $2 more, but much better plan.

  • They don not offer more discount like before, I have been with them more than 7 years, only $3 discount, same to new customer. still higher than virgin. seems to buy a new 5S and get a month by month plan is better choice.
