Samsung Galaxy S5 16GB G900H 3G White $518.90 DELIVERED @ SHOPPING SQUARE

860

POTENTIALLY A PRICE ERROR

THIS IS THE NON 4G ONE

The model is SM-G900H not the SM-G900. No I do not know what the H means. Maybe it doesn't matter.
Anyone willing to give it a shot go ahead. Maybe your order will be rejected and you get a free coupon?

Oh yes this is a grey import.

  • I believe the H means that the phone is stock from Europe. That is stupidly cheap, most other places are selling for $600+

    • So grey import?

      • Yes

  • +10

Who remembers the $499.95 Galaxy S2 debacle?

    • Absolutely…pulled the trigger and used my 'Reward points' from the SG2 on this! :D

      • Lol good to gamble.
I am toying with it.Did you option the insurance? Probs not necessary with PayPal.

        • +2

Nope, just went Paypal and see how we go from there!

    • Indeed, a warning to those who are thinking of taking the risk.

    • I don't, but it reminds me of the kogan s4 debacle, I am assuming this mob had a price error on s2 and never delivered. Oh well, good luck for those who order. :)

      • still using my SGS 2 from shopping square price error

I refuse to upgrade due to my affinity with GB and launcherpro :p

    • Still have my SG2 from that price, happy they honoured it, will buy again this time !

  • Does office works sell the 3G version for price matching purpose?

    • +1

      Grey import

      • They wont price match it. Needs to be local store for Samsung products.

    • -1

Is the Australian version same as the Asian one?

  • Will it work in Oz on Optus?

    • Yup, most places that sell grey imports sell unlocked phones.

    • +1

If you Google the model number, all will be revealed. (See which frequencies are supported: on a hunch, I'd bet yes)

  • +1

Looks like a pricing error, the black one is exactly $200 more

  • +1

Don't have high expectation from SS for a free coupon even if it is a pricing error.

  • any price special for the 4G version?

    • +2

No I can't find any pricing errors on the 4G models

  • +1

Seems good for a current gen flagship phone if you don't need 4g or live regional where you probably can't get 4g anyway.

  • +2

Some of the S4 are marked exactly the same price, so probably a pricing error setting the price of S5 in a S4 clearance.

Having said, this is only 25% cheaper than the next highest price at TopBuy according to static ice, and they charge a pretty high shipping fee, so in this case the price is plausible - you can't say this is obviously a pricing error.

    • +3

Hence the reason I said potentially.

      • Very very likely, Good on you for putting it out there.

  • Kogan doesn't sell G900H. But it seems to be a pricing error. Payment by Paypal would be safe.

  • I can't believe the pricing for postage by this mob though.

  • -1

How is 2330 a remote Area. Remote Area Surcharge: $25.00
    Delivery & Handling: $38.95
    Is this a Joke

    • +1

Its remote from where the phone is coming from

      • +2

lol,I have never Paid that much on any thing from Amazon. I could buy a Brand new basic phone for the cost of Delivery.

  • Just wondering if it's a pricing error what will happen after you've ordered one?

    • +1

      You lose all your money.
      All of it.

Kidding of course. Pay with PayPal, Sic PayPal on them if at all necessary.

    • You'll be begging weeks for your money back.

  • How does the warranty work for grey imports?

  • Not sure of Warranty but for Payment with Paypal - you could just cancel. I have a feeling that ShoppingSquare would treat Paypal payments with much more respect —- and am sure would refund Paypal quickly. Retailers normally don't mess with Paypal.

  • +1

Wow cant believe they're selling this generation flagship phones without 4g.

    • +4

Its not for Australian market, no point selling 4g phones in markets that don't have 4g. You know the world is a very big place, not everywhere is a developed country.

      • +4

I'd have thought most European countries would have better services than us?

        • +1

True, but perhaps there still a market for 3g phones in those countries if the price is right. Australia also has the most urbanised population in the world, so we probably have a higher proportion of people that can access 4g at this stage. Also we have a small market, so always get less choice. 700 million people vs 23 million afterall…

        • +1

Urbanised… More than Singapore or Hong Kong? etc

I guess Sydney is pretty big ;)

        • +1

Thanks for correction, I was meant to say we have one of the most urbanised populations in the world. Still our market size is a big reason why we miss out on more choice and usually end up being ripped off.

  • wow!

  • +3

Ok I found out difference in model names, main difference being cpu (and 4g or 3g

    G900H cpu: Octa Core (Quad-core 1.9 GHz Cortex-A15 + Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7)
    Chipset: Exynos 5 Octa 5422
    GPU: Mali-T628 MP6 graphics

    G900 cpu: Quad Core 2.5ghz Krait 400
    Chipset: Snapdragon 801
    GPU: Adreno 330 graphics

The Graphics of the G900H are about 30% weaker than the G900, The cpu of G900H is a mixed bag, while it is indeed octa core, the cores aren't running very fast, especially half of them. It will have great performance in multi-threaded/tasking scenarios, but the G900 with its higher speed will have the advantage in most situations I would say.

It seems that shopping square have written the wrong spec listing their G900H as a 2.1ghz Octa core, which is incorrect.

      • +2

The G900H has been released everywhere with the same specs (US,UK,AU etc), it is not a specific version to Indonesia, that article you posted is old.

I would personally not buy the G900H, it has an out dated GPU worse than the S4 and the other G900 S5 variant. I explained how even though it is Octa core, the lower speed will hinder it. I forgot to mention that the chispset is also inferior to the S4 and G900 S5, meaning the cpu will lose even more performance… Its not a flagship phone by any stretch. The better G900 S5 variant is only slightly better than the S4. I would wait for the S5 refresh towards the end of the year, leaked as model G906S, or wait for Note 4.

        • Ha ha, thanks for the insight. It's so confusing! Maybe that's why the S5's been panned.

  • So is it worth it ? :S

    • +1

It depends if you want a flagship phone for around $500 without 4g. I'm sure many are happy to live without 4g, especially with the data allowances most plans provide. 4g is mostly a sales gimmick.

  • So if I purchase it for the price its for now with paypal .. Do they have to sell me the phone or would they refund my paypal money .. What would generally happen ?

    • Nope they don't. It just provides you with protection to get your money refunded faster.

    • +1

It's up to them- some will honour the price even if wrong, others will cancel it and refund your money.

  • +1

Us Ozbargainers are pretty lucky, always getting epic Samsung Galaxy price errors.

Me personally, I'll wait for the galaxy 6 price error next year ;)

  • +1

IMHO; In Australia buying 3G S5 for this price might make sense if you are planning to be on a Vodafone/Optus/Telstra reseller — The Re-sellers give High amount of 3G Data for a bargain & Seriously 4G is way too expensive anyways.

Price is only about $100-$150 lower than 4G version (Exclude the Postage). Maybe 3G is the reason its cheaper - or it could be just a Price-mistake … but if it's not a mistake, I think its a very good bargain -

Octa-Core Processor (2 Quad Core Processors in tandem)
    2GB Ram
    16MP Camera
    KitKat

    Quachyy:
For Paypal - Retailers are supposed to refund it back to your Paypal account.

  • +1

Bought one. Let's see what happens next

  • I just wanted to say, If you are looking to buy a proper flagship phone, I would leave this model alone. Read my comments a bit further up to know more. And to add to those comments, this G900H version also gets hotter and has less battery life by around 20%.

The G900 4G model is the way to go, the G900H 3g is a lower tier phone.

    • +2

But for the price, perhaps it's worth the trade-off?

  • Oh yes, I should have said, at this price it indeed is worth it. But if you play games, you would be much better off with an S4, or Z1 or 1520.

  • How does the CPU and GPU of this compare to my current Nexus 5?
    Thanks.

    • CPU is ever so slightly better. GPU is the same.

  • How did you get free shipping? I am in WA

  • +1

The cpu of this s5 model would be a bit better, but it would also get hotter and drain battery bit more.
The gpu of your nexus 5 is actually around 30% better. I would not bother with this phone if I were you.

  • Also may consider almost the same phone/clone from Ali. Seller has lots of happy customers and all of them have 5 stars rating with over 1000 positive feedback:

    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-Arrival-Perfect-1-1-I9600…

    • Any ideas if its stock android with access to Play?

  • I'll pass on this offer.
The new phone one plus one is better and cheaper..LOL

  • +1

Did the s5 increase in price? Always thought that galaxy's where around the $500 mark? They cost now more than iPhones.

  • Heres is the phone on Shopping Square's eBay for $679.95
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-Galaxy-S5-16GB-G900H-3G-S…
Which as mentioned is the same for the other colors http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_411550_Samsung_Galaxy_S5_…
So I'm going with pricing error.

  • +1

Price just increased to $579.95 while I am checking out, almost paid $579.95 + postage!

  • +1

    Price is now $579.95 + $38.95 shipping

    • Updated

      • +1

Need to mark the deal as "updated price" to minimize confusion.

        • +1

          Done

  • Looks like a pricing error. Let's see if they honour those who ordered.

  • Price increase $100.

  • Wonder what sort of charger this comes with?

  • What was the original price?

    • +1

      518.90

    • +1

      Ozbargained, hence the price increment!

  • +1

Price was insane. Now it's meh.

  • This should be marked expired. A $100 price difference deserves 2 separate posts.

  • Deal has been reverted and marked expired at the original price point. Due to the large number of votes at the cheaper price it would not be appropriate to continue the deal at a higher price. The new price is essentially a new deal. Thanks

    • If this turn out to be a price error and they wont honour the deal, will it be move to the forum?

      • Yep that's correct.

  • Hmmmm….let's see if this deal gets honoured or not ^-^

  • +1

Of course it will be honoured; it's by the honourable shopping square :)

  • No updates yet?

    • So .. No news is Good News? If Shopping-Square honours this price, they will re-define the Company's image - In a landslide "Positive Reviews". But knowing their past, I am pretty sure they will chicken out - and cry pricing-error.

      • I'd say they'll probably do a kogan, and if you are really lucky you might get a $20 voucher.

        • What would Kogan do ?? ^~^

        • "if you are really lucky you might get a $20 voucher"

  • Nothing yet for me.

    • Same here. Seems like a long wait …

    • Sent them a mail to see when/if it'll be shipped

  • Shopping Square - where everyone gets put back to square one

  • So here's the update,
