V Australia: Sydney to Los Angeles for $496 one-way, $930 return inc tax

260

V Australia are stepping up, offering Sydney to Los Angeles fares for $496 one way, $930 return including tax, for the travel period of 20 July to 30 November. This is an exceptional time to buy up if you’re planning to travel to the US, with the trans-Pacific fare war in full-swing.

Now that V Australia offer one-way tickets, you can put together an itinerary in which you can return from a city other than LA. Note that if you intend to purchase a one-way ticket, you will need to show proof that you intend to exit the United States (ie. have a valid ticket to your next destination) in order to enter the US (via Flighthacker.com).

  • Finally decent one way prices.. i hope the other airlines catch up on this!

  • u can fly delta and united full service for similar price

    • Not one way…

And V Aust's service is > United's service. Better entertainment system and seat back monitors.

  • Do remember that to enter the US as an Australian passport holder on the visa waiver program you need to hold a return ticket. Going to LA with a one way ticket will get you deported quick smart.

    • Is it specifically a return ticket, or is it more like "proof of onward travel"?

Have a return trip ticket to any foreign destination other than a territory bordering on the United States or an adjacent island of which you are a resident, subject to certain exceptions enumerated at § 217(a)(8) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, 8 U.S.C. § 1187(a)(8).

I suppose we can travel to South America via North America, but if you have a one way ticket you will be refused entry, when you arrive in La or NY clear customs. If you have a V australia ticket and return ticket with delta i think that should be ok.
