Showing as $23.90 for me or case of 2 for $44.90 (WA)

    • +1

      Same for me in QLD

    • +1

Same for SA. Looks like it might be VIC only?

    • $19.90 , just picked one in Malvern, great deal, thanks op

  • Also, I didn't think the CITYTOWN code worked on beer?

    • +1

      Add a bottle of wine.

      • -3

Don't drink wine, plus its no longer a bargain if I have to buy more to receive

        • +8

Still a bargain at $19.90 pick up in store. (ignore my +1 vote).

Thanks OP, just picked up one from Brighton VIC. Left one on the shelf for another Ozbargainer :)

        • +1

Thanks for leaving one behind, managed to get this and some duff australian edition

        • I saw that Duff. Let us know if it's any good?

  • +4

5L is a lot to drink in one sitting.

PS: Can confirm I attempted this before working a night shift many many years ago with my brother. No one was hurt and thankfully it was a quiet night at work.

    • +1

      It's just right for two.

    • +4

5L is only 13.33 stubbies which for some would be an average session. If you shared it with your brother then you only had a little over a 6 pack each.

      • +4

If I drank 6 stubbies in a session, I wouldn't be conscious. Confirms that I am, many years later, still a lightweight drinker LOL

Confirms that I am, many years later, still a lightweight drinker LOL

          no shame in that :)

        • +1

it makes getting drunk even more of a bargain

  • +1

Prices are correct for Chelsea Heights store (VIC).

  • Great deal thanks OP, used to buy these 8 years ago when they were $20 a keg. Bought 2 @ $34.90 with pickup option

  • I've never had it before, is this beer actually any good?

    • +1

Yep, real good beer. Nice and refreshing with a hint of malty goodness

  • +1

Got myself 4 Kegs, this stuff had better taste good

    • I tried this at a party once and it was ok, kind of different to what I'm used to though. Nothing like a lager or pale ale, it's quite heavy and sweet, almost like a strange stout-style beer.

Personally not a fan, but I know plenty of people who are, so it's worth trying! :)

  • +3

Check the expiry dates - got burned on the Chang deal

    • +3

i believe the used by date is a best before and it relates to the sugar.
it will hold in the solution for a while.

  • Will this be better than good ol' VB?

    • +14

Haha any crappy drink in the world is better than vb

  • Thanks OP, got two cases. Could not 'click-n-collect' at Bundoora or (de)Preston, but was in luck for click-n-collect at Abbotsford. Happy days.

  • why was vb over $50 a carton last time i went into BWS? scam!

    • +2

For 30 pack it is $57 non-special price. 24 pack is $47 non-special price. However one of them is always on special for $42-45, sometimes even cheaper with coupons.

If you want the cheapest price, it will usually be at Dan's or First Choice, as they both price match.

  • Sweet, I ordered and did a click and collect, low stock so I hope I get it.

    • +2

      I read.."I ordered a dick"… and i haven't even had this beer yet..

  • +1

with code and a bottle of wine added not giving free delivery

    • +1

† Free metro & regional delivery is valid from Tuesday 24 June to Thursday 26 June 2014 for Standard delivery to metropolitan and regional areas only.

It excludes orders containing beer and RTDs

    • It doesn't deduct it until the last page of checkout right before you confirm, I was stressing while ordering some spirits the other night. As long as you have a non-beer/RTD item in your cart it will let you have the beer in your order.

  • I went in an got one for $16. The shelf price was $20 and didn't seem to be on special (no signs saying discount etc…)

    • Where??

      • +1

Doveton, but I think that was the last one as it was close to expiring (2/7/14). Weinstephan 5L kegs are on special there for $25 but are close to expiry (29/6/14).

TBH I had a Paulner (German) keg over the weekend that was 4 MONTHS PAST Expiry and guess what…… I'm still alive lol.

Funny thing is that it tasted the same as the same keg I had that was well before expiry.

        • +2

Sometimes beers past their expiry aren't going to be bad though.

        • Thats somewhere in Australia …right?

        • +3

Oh bugger it's actually in Narnia!

Nah Dovetn's in Victoria, however not worth visiting.

        • +1

LOL, cheers, states help a lot

  • $20 for 1 keg $35 for 2 kegs at BWS (WA) not sure if it's nation wide ..

  • A case of 24 was $31.90 2 weekends ago at DMs..

Sorry forgot to post it :S

  • sorry guys, never bought a keg before. Does it need to be consumed in one sitting or can i just put it back in the fridge. I'm the only beer drinker in the family so it'll take me over a week to drink 5L…in moderation :).

    • +4

With these you generally want to drink it over a few hours - great for parties and if there's some left it may still be ok-ish the following day but not much longer unless you don't mind flat beer. Unlike the Heineken jobs that are pressurized (so will last the week) these are gravity fed so you need to punch a hole in the top and tap from the bottom.

      • NVM

      • See below - apparently they've updated the kegs to the new pressurised style with the tap on the top. In this case they will last at least 2 weeks or more…

    • +1

Pretty sure it's not pressurised so once it's opened it will go flat - The same as having a 5L bottle.

      • +4

The one I bought today is pressurised with CO2

  • Do they come with a tap at the bottom?

  • +5

the tap is fitted at the top, they apparently will be good for 30days in the fridge (once opened) according to what's written on it.

  • Das ist gud!

    • Ja!

    • *gut

      :p

      • Aye… German for 'this is good' is:
'Das ist gut!' (where the "u" in "gut" is pronounced "ooo").
        And it is good! :)
        Sehr gut.

  • I got the final 2 at the Dans in Malvern! Awesome stuff!

    • Can u tell me What's the expiry date?

      • Please

        • 2/7/14 - Sorry I was away without reception for the weekend.

        • thanks Matt. Mine has the same expiry date but I don't mind. I'm having one now and luving it :).

  • got 2 from gabba in brisbane
    expiry jan 2015.
