Is this LG G2 Unlocked White 32GB Unlocked?

    • +1

Seriously? But in all honesty, are you being serious or what?

      • he's referring to the title before it was edited

Wow… I bought this 4 weeks ago from t-dimension for $380… so thought this was not much of a deal though of course is local stock. However t-dimension now have it priced at $528!! wtf… I should sell mine and make a profit.. obviously a collectors item now! :)

  • +1

I bought this from Kogan. Very happy with it's performance and features. It has very good camera which is more powerful than the Google Nexus. Very happy with what I paid for it.
I checked the G3 spec and don't see big jump from G2 anyway. So buying the G2 for lesser price is not a bad idea at all.

    • +3

just to add, G2 is able to run G3 rom :)

    • +2

FYI, the Nexus cameras weren't very good to begin with.

However, the G2's camera is one of the best from last year's flagships.

  • I have 10% off coupon from ebay (maximum discount amount is %50). I'm so hesitated with last deal which is Kogan Sony Z2 $500 ( I only have to pay 500- $10 cash reward - $50 = $440) and this DS deal. $430 - Cash reward $8.6 - $43 = $378.4. The points are Z2 has screen defect ( you can google it) and it from Hongkong, and the G2 is too old for buy.

Do you think I need to wait until the new Nexus coming? I need a new smartphone but not in rush.

    • +9

The G2 is not too old to buy. It's an amazing phone!

      • Indeed. I owned the Nexus 5 which is very similar to G2 and I was so in love with it. However, my baby threw it and it's broken. Now I need the new phone which is little far better than that as I'm so demanded person :D

        • +5

My expert recommendation would be to embrace the ozbargain spirit, go for the G2 and save!

The G2 is by no means 'too old'. In fact, most older phones are good enough to handle most, if not all, of the latest apps. E.g. my Nexus 4, is a year older than the G2, yet still flies and runs anything flawlessly. Also, the G2 has a spectacular battery life; anyone will be very happy about this.

Also since you've said that you've owned a Nexus 5, if you end up not liking LG's stock software, you can install CyanogenMod on it, to get an enhanced Nexus experience.

The simplest way to do that (as it's written for noobs with a stock phone) is to follow this easy guide: http://amigotips.wordpress.com/2014/07/02/your-phone-faster-…

        • I moved from iPhone4S to LG G2 last month and am very very happy. I've used Android4.0 phone before all this time and wife had Android too. So the OS is not new to me. But I love the responsiveness of G2 as it's really fast and responsive. Battery life is really good.

        • I like the double tap on screen for On and Off functionality too.

  • +2

I've had mine for a few months now, and agree with the sentiment here. After 3 gens of Galaxy's, this is the best phone I've owned and battery life is amazing. I actually think in some ways this is probably a bit better than teh G3 as that screen is gonna suck the juice down and I don't think there would be much benefit.

  • Where's Mobileciti at? Haven't heard from them in a while.

  • +6

Best phone every owned (I have used iphone 2,3,4, 5s and Samsung S4 and HTC one m7). Love everything about the phone especially the camera

Make sure you buy a good proper case to protect the phone though as it is all plastic

I have compared the G2 with the G3 and found that G3 camera is actually better. The GUI on G3 is also easier on the eyes. But for $300 more I would rather stick with G2

    • Any case recommendations? I use a Nilkin hard shell case - slim, but relatively low protection.

      • I had the Nilkin myself and I agree not much protection there. Through trial and error I had 3 cases for myself. The Nilkin one you already had, my daughter drop the phone once while having it on and it cracked. I then got a Cruzerlite soft TPU which is quite nice looking. My phone survived a couple of drops from my desk to the tiled floor so I guess it could absorb a fair bit of shock. I also got a Spigen Slim Armor. This is probably the best in term of protection but it is just so huge. You feel like you are holding a brick. Also none of my headphone can fit in while having this case on. To their credit, a friend of mine who has exactly the same Spigen case dropped his phone to a concrete surface twice in a row in front of me and it was all good

        • Thanks for the info!

Yeah I had a Spigen for my previous Nexus 5 too - great protection but as you said makes it feel like a brick.

I've heard good things about the Cruzerlite ones too. Where did you buy yours? They're kind of pricey on eBay.

  • do they accept DS giftcards on ebay? if so how do i apply it?

    • +1

No, and the 20% off promotion requires you pay by PayPal anyway.

Xperia Z2 is coming around $585.03 after the cash back discount along with Code CDICKSMITH20.
May be need as separate post ?. Fantastic value for a local stock.:) Tempted.

  • +5

I love the knock on feature, every time I use another phone now I habitually find myself double tapping the screen to wake it up.

  • What are peoples thoughts on this deal Vs. the One+ One?
    https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/lg-g2-vs-o-o.3750/

The 64gb O+O version is going for around $450 delivered on eBay so I'd say these two phones are competing directly head to head.

    • Also keen to hear what everyone thinks on this.

    • +1

The thing about the 1+1 is that it may have near mythical status among android users, it's a wild card. If there is a problem with the phone like one user reports then its going to be a pain to get support and get it fixed. Plus LG is a multi national company that has great technical and support services, although the benefit of 1+1 is Cyanogenmod support which i highly value but i would rather just get the G2. Its been listed many times as being one of the best phones, also it has better battery life compared to the G3 by 2 hours i believe. In the end depends on what phone an individual wants. Another phone to check out is the ZTE Nubia 7 mini, just as good as the 1+1.

      • CyanogenMod should definitely not be a factor in deciding whether to buy the G2 or not.

This is because the LG G2 is supported by CyanogenMod, just like the 1+1.

Other than that, I agree with you; LG Electronics is an international company, while One+ (the company's name) is… well, a random one from China that popped up out of nowhere, with the One+1.

If anyone wants to try out CyanogenMod, this is the simplest instructions I've found by far, written for the layman with a stock (unmodified) phone: http://amigotips.wordpress.com/2014/07/02/your-phone-faster-…

  • So when does the new Nexus come out?

    • October / Novemberish.

    • +1

      Shouldn't be too long!

      • might wait for that one instead eh?

        • I have a Nexus 5 and I'm keen for it! Might try sell this to help cover the difference.

  • This G2 is 4g right? So will work with all the 4g carriers here in Aust?

    • Correct.

  • Thanks

So the question is to buy this G2 or for $100 more get the G3? What you guys reckon?

    • +3

In my honest opinion. I had the G2 (dropped it, cracked the screen and sold it on eBay as spare parts) as you have to replace the entire LCD + Digitiser. My misses now has the G3, G3 looks and feels amazing… Great looking phone, but either way. I've had the iPhone 4, iPhone 5, Galaxy S3, S4 and note Galaxy Note 3. The LG G2 is the best phone I've owned hands down..

  • Depends on what you're trying to do.

If you're going for hard core gaming, the latest (G3) is the obvious choice.

If you're otherwise an everyday Joe who just browses the internet, takes photos (which the G2 does very well), calls and texts, the G2 is the choice (and you also get phenominal battery life, and $100 in your pocket).

        • +1

That is not an oz stock phone, It says in the description "
Please note: This is US unlocked version D800 which is the same as D800. And it will 100% work in AUS" and if you have any problems with it you will need to send it back to China at your expense.

  • +1

    Bought! Bye bye iPhone 4.

    • I did the same jump a month back and happy :)

  • +1

The Sony Xperia z ultra is still available for $350 at msy.

Was thinking to get the g pro 2 /g2 but found the z ultra for this ridiculous price. Had it for couple weeks now, awesome phone, works just as fast as a note 3. No flash but doesn't bother me since I don't use flash normally anyway.

  • Nice. I bought for $510 about 3-4 months ago, claimed the $50 cashback at the time and got another $45 or so back from GST so no regrets that the price has dropped.

I agree that it's a great phone. Strong battery, very decent camera and a good screen. I'm not sure why LG focuses so much on having the button on the back which makes zero difference to ownership of the phone except for watching people searching for the button when you hand them your phone.

A++ would recommend, especially at this pricepoint.

  • Got one too. Upgraded from LG P500. RIP

  • -1

Just wait for the Apple iPhone announcement. No rush!

  • Case recommendations?

  • Where can I get G Pro 2 instead? Have been looking, usually out of stock or available in hideous red colour only.

  • Dick Smith website (not ebay store) has increased price to $598. They may do soon for Ebay store as well

    • eBay price now $598. Total now comes to 482.36 Delivered :(

  • Paid $497 for my G2 at JB Hifi a few weeks ago-it's an awesome phone For a case, I bought a Spigen SlimArmour.

    • Does the Spigen SlimArmour come with a flip case like the quickview cases, i see they have them for the samsung S4 but cant seem to find it for the LG G2
