Virgin Blue: Sydney to Bali for $124 Return, Including Tax

850

Folks, it’s hit us. Completely by accident, we have discovered $124 return fares between Sydney and Denpasar, Bali, between 4 November and 12 December, 2009. These fares are inclusive of fees and taxes (base fare is a heart-stopping $20). Usual ’sale’ price for such fares is over $350, so don’t hesitate. Run. Bring your mum and your best friend. You will not see this again.

We have encountered site issues, so something big is going on. Visit virginblue.com.au to book now. (via Flighthacker.com, http://ow.ly/l15f)

Just bought four tickets, I'm not sure how long this deal will last. This sale is not advertised, so it may be a mistake by Virgin Blue. Good luck!

    • Wow that's cheap….any bargain fly from Adelaide?

  • Wow, this is insanely cheap! $38 to Sydney from Denpasar. Including taxes!

Can't believe the return one so cheap… $38.45

09:40 am Adelaide 12:40 pm Denpasar (Bali) DJ 4195 $399.00
01:10 am Denpasar (Bali) 08:35 am Adelaide DJ 4194 $351.64
=> No deal from ADL :(

  • Yea, only Sydney, sadly. Look for these fares (Twitpic): http://twitpic.com/ezu8t

    $85.80 there, $38.45 return.

  • The flight from Bali is cheap because tax is payable at the airport and thus, the fare is not inclusive of airport tax.

    • Go! Fare 1 Adult @ $19.80
      Taxes $18.65
      Returning Flight Total $38.45

Why does Virgin say it is then?

      • they also have some other taxes. that is not airport taxes. read the detail on the taxes and compare with the one departing from Sydney. The Sydney leg has the additional "Departure tax"

        • It appears to be less than $20 anyway…

  • This is insanely cheap! Connecting MEL-SYD return for two adults = $308 which is more than the $248 for two adults return Sydney to Bali!

We advise you to reconsider your need to travel to Indonesia, including Bali, at this time due to the very high threat of terrorist attack.
On 17 July 2009, terrorists detonated bombs at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and the JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta. Australians were among those killed and injured.
There is a possibility of further terrorist attacks in Jakarta and elsewhere in Indonesia, including Bali. In past years, terrorists have attacked nightclubs, bars, restaurants and hotels in Bali and Jakarta. In the wake of the 17 July Jakarta bombings, we judge that these types of venues in Bali and Jakarta are still targets of interest to terrorists.

smart traveller, I almost clicked that button, but still top price!

Just avoid all the western club hangouts, the big hotels and the tourist trap part of Bali and you should be fine (you'll have a more interesting holiday too)

      • +1 on that Seachicken! Couldn't have put it better myself! :)

  • Yep, that's all, folks. Sydney won't be getting AirAsia any time soon, so this sale has been our one consolation. Congrats to all that got the cheap tickets, hopefully we'll meet over Mai Tai's soon :)

How do these type of promotions differ from Bait and Switch ??

It seems acceptable for airlines to offer crazy deals to seldom few and be congratulated for it.

I'm a bit over the Qantas / Jet Star / Tiger / Virgin spamming me with deals which have expired by the time I navigate to their websites.

    • +3

To be honest, Virgin never advertised it in the first place. I think it was most likely a mistake that they pulled down as soon as they became aware. I dont think you can blame them for taking it down.

    • You snooze you lose.

      I 100% agree.

Bummer that I missed it!!! :(

  • I guess Mick was talking to TJFAU :D

  • wow it becomes top of the deal.. only in 1 day not even a day..
i thought there is deals direct free shipping..

  • +1

This deal should be marked as 'expired' - it's attracting a lot of people only to disappoint when they realise the promo is over :(

maybe a good suggestion for the site would be to have an 'epic deal' tag on bargains like this. Then there could be some sort of email alert/sms alert (perhaps with a monthly signup fee or something) when someone posts a new deal (posting an epic deal when its not epic being a bannable offense)

So deals like 20cents off chocolate bars at woolies wont get marked as that, but if you have a ridiculously huge bargain like this or like that HT laptop sale you can mark it as 'epic' and ozbargain members get an alert ofit so they can get in before it's gone!

    • Good idea.. maybe 'epic deals' could only be approved by a moderator to ensure there is no abuse. Or a deal with rapid amount of votes in a short period of time could automagically get nominated.

    • The problem with doing something like that is that 10,000 people will start slamming the same server, and then we ALL miss out.

Sometimes you've just gotta be in the right place at the right time.

  • the site will be down because of this

  • oh no… too bad… i missed this..

  • Awesome price and a great bargain. Enjoy your trip folks.

Will you still need to pay for a meal even though it's international??

  • Could order everything off the menu and still less than the cheapest alternative!

  • Isnt the home page for deals that have been generating the most interest?
