my guess is its a series 5

    http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=te…

says the RRP for the series 5 is $1,299

    • Yeah, looks like it. Bought a 4 series last Christmas for the same price from Harvey Norman.

Now, let's see if JB actually carries any instock…

  • still a pretty good deal, 1080p for under 1k and a top brand

  • +4

    Very good deal.

Judging by specs, photo, the model is the LA32B550. Usually not seen below $1100~. $1000 would be good. This is great.

  • I want a TV for the bedroom, but realistically how big is 32" it seems quite small, as my PC monitor is 24"….

should I just wait and save a bit more and get a 42" ?

    • Depends on the viewing angle & distance between your bed & the TV (and of course your eyesight), just google "TV viewing distance" and you'll get your choice of calculators/matrices to help you work it out! ;)

    • +1

A lot of people (read:most) would find a 42" too big for the bedroom. And no that wasn't a double entendre.

  • Posting to also give positive feedback on the TV. Great TV, and a mega bargain for that price :D

  • Deal

  • If I am watching within 1 meter, do you think it will be good to use for browsing internet? are the text clear enough?
This is not 100hz, am I right?
Thinking to buy 26inch pc monitor for $550 or get this one.

    • i have a 32" full HD samsung sittin at the end of my bed..i feek it's just the right size for anything i'm watching.

as for web browsing..at 1920x1080 resolution i find text too small and often need to use the shortcut key Ctrl + scroll wheel to make text size larger to read…not a real issue for me. tho to be honest i havent really bothered looking art things like cleartype settings or whatever…hope that helps!

      • I agree 100% with that… I have a 40" running at 1920x1080, connected to my HTPC… and I had to increase the DPI, as well as using the shortcut to make the text size larger to read. My eyesight is probably just bad though, but I can't use it for too long or my eyes start to hurt. I have zero issues sitting at a desk using a normal computer though!

  • The local Good Guys catalogue has the 40" Full-HD Samsung for a shade under $1400 I think….. I will have to double check, I swear I saw it at that price…!

  • I bought this model from JB about six months ago and got them down to $1100 with 5 year warranty, so this is a good deal.

  • wow.. i hope they still have it in store tonight.. and I hope my g/f approve the purchase :D

  • yeah thats right $1398 for the full hd 40 inch. tough decision - 32 or 40 inch…..

Hi guys, called up Macquarie JB. It is the Samsung Series 4 32inch (LA32B450). Is it still a good price? available for about $865.oo online Love any thoughts…

    • +1

$865 for the lower end model? No thanks, spend the extra $34 and go for a model worth hundreds more.

The LA32B450 is not Full HD. Good TV, but not a good deal compared to this.

    • +1

Just to clarify this: the correct model number for the Samsung 32" Full HD TV deal adveristed at $899 is:
      LA32B550K1F. Offer Ends Sunday…

  • Which one? Also The Good Guys catalogue has the Samsung UA46B8000XF advertised at $1396. Called them up, obviously a mistake, do they have to honour the price advertised or offer me an alternate?

    • Which store are you looking at? the catalog for Joondalup WA has the UA46B8000XF as $4599, and the LA40B530P7F for $1396.

  • is this the series 5? or 4?

  • Sorry wrong TV at the Good Guys, but JB Macquarie & the web site have the LA32B450 for the special price, not the series 5.

  • How good is if I want to use it as a replcement computer monitor? and Ps3?

    • +1

Excellent for PS3, depends on your usage if you want to use it as a computer monitor (like what you'll be viewing, where you will be viewing it from etc..)

  • hmmm, I currently have a 24inch Dell, tempted getting the samsung and sell my dell!

    • DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

    • Don't give up your dell unless you only watch tv on it. If you have the dell i'm thinking of and makes a occurence on ozbargain pretty regularly, it has a lot higher resolution than the samsung or any other tv is capable of.

  • Try and get it for $860! My mole at JB tells me that they are still making 40 bucks! iF not, still a great price

  • Series 5 confirmed. Called JB Hornsby & Macquarie, Hornsby have 2 in stock & Macquarie about 18 at this stage. thanks for the great post!!

  • mmmm, I'm tempted to buy one as a monitor, my main concern is that its a 50hz rather than 100hz.

For those looking at buying, i suggest you get in early, the store i called (Elizabeth, SA) has 20 in stock at most, and recommended getting in early tomorrow.

EDIT: After reading the users manual online, it appears to support 60hz with HDMI.

Also, Bing Lee is $11 less :p

    Cheaper at Bing Lee

    Only $888!

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/16838

    • and this deserves a neg why?

Most of australia can't get to a bing lee

Plus JB are always great in matching prices and I'm sure they would nock off like $10

    • +1

      Stupid neg vote.

$11 dollars difference and JB is Australia wide. Not like ur post.

      Idiot!

    • +3

Mate, there's no Bing Lee in WA.

Well, maybe there is.. somewhere, sitting on a couch at his home.. but he ain't selling no LCD TV!

      :)

      • lol

      • Bing Lee kinda died recently. I hope he's not still on the couch.

    • +1

Deep breaths. Nobody needs to neg or be negged.

Availability is not comparable for a negative vote.

      • The negfight at the OB corral!

I wish I could transcribe that pre-gunfight whistle from "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly"! :p

  • Korean Won crashing. Expect more like this!
