Back up guys - Cheers, DS.

    • DSE match it?

        1. These products are sold for and on behalf of Dick Smith Electronics Pty Limited (ABN 34 000 908 716) (“Dick Smith”). Dick Smith is the supplier of the goods.

        Who are they matching, themselves?

    • +3

wait a minute… so why can't dicksmith themselves do it for this price ?

      • +1

Because they already know thousands of OZbargainers will/already have, pay/paid more! Eg $39.

        • +11

I've been waiting for the magical $30 price… Almost there… Are you listening Dick Smith?

        • +3

@The Land of Smeg: I've been waiting for the magical $30 price… Almost there… Are you listening Dick Smith?

        • +6

@The Land of Smeg: $26.99 if you still have the BDAY code available to use.

        • +6

@neelsaraiya: Okay! Ran out of excuses! Purchased. Now what shall I use it for?

        • @neelsaraiya: Thanks for reminding me about that…tipped me over the edge too! There's Xmas sorted for at least one relo! ;)

        • @neelsaraiya: thanks for reminding me about the coupon!

Hey DSE Rep - While you are here, can you do some deals on preorders for XBone games for those who got bundles over the weekend? Thinking Halo MCC, AssCreed Unity and GTA V? Cheers

      • I am new here, just wondering why i get negatives on my comment above? Sorry if i did do somethign wrong!

        • +3

Your username perfectly illustrates what's wrong with your comment. A Dicksmith Rep is not likely going to have the power to randomly create any discount to offer specifically to you, as they are not your typical online store.

        • @AmeryD: thanks for the explanation, sorry to all who read my uh pointless comment.

        • +2

          @pointless comment:

I still think people have been too harsh on you by negging, instead of just answering the question, like AmeryD did.

  • That is COTD ….. No hope

BTW, new version coming out soon?

  • +10

Woo nice, $26.99 if you still have the BDAY code available to use.

    • Dam I dont need another one :/ but its cheap…

    • Yup thats what I did.. :)

    • i tried it and got 'coupon conditions not met'

    • How do you use the BDAY code? I am an existing COTD member but when I add the Chromecast to my cart, I can't see where to use the voucher. The price is also still showing as $34.99 at checkout so the voucher is not automatically applied. I haven't used BDAY previously.

      • +5

Make sure you log in first to COTD.

There is a link on the page when you view your cart..
        "Got a coupon code"

      • +1

jdr: I'm not exactly sure the conditions of the BDAY code sorry.

See CB_TheTECH's comment below, make sure you're logged in.

        • -1

I am existing customer and haven't used this code before. When I applied the code I am getting the error "You have reached the usage limit of this coupon"

PS: My mistake guys. I have used it couple of weeks back to buy that mini speaker that was posted on OZB, which I never wanted. :(

      • Thanks Cardz.
I saw the link in the card this time and purchased successfully. I appreciate your help with this.

And thanks unco for the prompt about the voucher code.

    • +1

      I bought it :(

  • +2

Found out I had $10 credit on my account. Worked about to be only $16.99 with the BDAY coupon. Not bad at all :)

    • yeah, i did the same too =)

  • +1

Just got mine for $26.99, "Coupon condition not met" comes up when you're not logged in. Log in and should be ok.

  • +1

Used BDAY plus $20 referral credit I found I had. $6.99 delivered, glad I resisted temptation on all those earlier $35 and $39 offers! ;-)

    • I feel the same way. Got it for $27.

You just watch. Next month they'll go for like $10, ha.

      • +2

Got one as well, if it hadn't for the bday code, probably won't get it.

  • +2

$24.99 with $10 credit from the $1 earphones last week. Under $26 for earphones and chromecast. And i dont need either of them…

    • Could you not use the BDAY code for a further $8 off?

      • Im a new sign up to cotd for $1 earphones that i dont need…i think bday code only for existing members

        • Yep, you're right. Nice deals :-)

  • I wonder if these units are being cleared because the retailers know the new version is coming which might make the existing ones unappealing (eg a really good added feature apart from 5ghz and/or a better price.

    • +1

Don't know. the one I have now works fine and a second one for $26 seems like a good buy that I doubt I will have any buyers remorse when a '2' comes out.
Google have apparently said that the new version will not have any new 'noticeable features' .. I would think a 5GHz radio would have been noticeable and worth mentioning. It's possible the device they sent through the FCC just contain new cheaper wifi chips so that they could reduce the price (or make more profit).

  • DS Rep is there going to be another eneloop deal ? Not sure if i should use my $8 here or save it for eneloop

  • Great deal, was looking for one of these..
    Now.. what does it do?

  • +1

I'd love to see you try and claim any sort of warranty with a faulty product in a Catch of the day / Dicksmith deal. LOL. It would be worse then a game of Tennis.

  • Thanks for this OP. Been hanging out for a decent deal on these and while I'm normally opposed to anything COTD related after their password leak drama, the BDAY promo was the draw card. $26.99 delivered is good enough for me!

  • Just ordered.

  • $25, done

  • Ordered one for $26.99 after using BDAY coupon. Thanks OP.

  • Great deal!…if only they fulfilled their orders. I'm 0 for 2 in the last two weeks.

  • Nice Bargain~~

    Sub Total$34.99
    Standard postage - 3134 $0.00
    Discount (BDAY) - $8.00
    Store credit used- $10.00

    ——>>Total $16.99<<——-
    =)

  • I don't see the point of this in Australia. Reading the description on the amazon website:

"Can I stream photos and videos stored on my computer to my TV?
You can stream content that is shown within Chrome for Mac and Chrome for Windows."

Only good for people who have Netflix, Hulu etc in the US…

    • But it's $34.99!

    • You can actually stream content stored on your computer. Use videostream.

    • I'm tempted so I don't have to use my Xbox for Netflix but I think the Roku is a more streamlined solution, despite it being ~ triple the price.

    • +1

I use it because it makes streaming videos from your computer to any HDMI capable TV super simple when you install VideoStream plugin for chrome (as mentioned above)!!

I don't even use it for the other things.

    • Psssst….. You can actually stream Netflix and Hulu to one of these in Australia fairly easily. Don't tell anyone…..

As of today, iView is now officially in beta for the chromecast! Yay!

    http://ausdroid.net/2014/11/05/abc-iview-android-app-updated…

  • OMG! still pple buying Crhomecast even after so many deals in the past. Wow! guess exceeding enloops!

    • +3

Formula for how many chromecasts you need = Chromecast you own + 1

  • $20 store credit from referrals = $15… Do I need one??

    • If U based in Melbourne, sell It to me for $20. U'll make $5 profit!

    • Decided yes, I may as well have a play with one!

  • What are the odds that this is in response to the Hardly Normal deal?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/168322

  • F%$^&@!)(@(!%@^&$!#*!&#^&!()
Used the coupon when it's 39 AUD. Fk that
Maybe next year COTD will sell it for 19 AUD

    • It's 4 bucks mate.

      • 4 bucks is like a gold in ozbargain m8

  • +5

Sweet. Didn't cost me a cent. I logged in to find I had $30 credit (I assume from referrals), and when I checked out with PayPal I found that the $5 I won from their instant win promotion had come through.

  • Finally couldn't resist with this price bought it for $26.99 with BDAY code.

    Although I don't know why I need it :P

    • Yeah. I caved in too after deciding yesterday that I didn't need it. I know I won't use it for any kind of streaming on my home network. Its limited codec support sees to that. I'm interested in seeing if I can get Netflix to work though. That would definitely win me cred with my wife.

  • BDAY code doesn't work for me, get this error message "Coupon conditions have not been met. " even after signing in

I signed up first time today

    • code worked for me. Have you ordered anything from them recently with this code? Are you trying to order using smartphone or tablet? Try to use it on a laptop and you should be fine.

      • used laptop and new browser/ session didn't help. i just signed up yesterday

    • +3

I think because you signed up today.

I signed up long time ago but never order.

      • yes, thats what i think

    • +1

I believe the code was for accounts created before the code was issued, in order to stop people making accounts just to get the code.

      • -3

        ….

        • +1

          ?

        • @theguyrules:

For some reason when I tried to post on the HN Chromecast thread but got posted here.

That is why I …… it. lol

  • -1

    Out of stock again :(

  • Why not just set the price to $40 flat always?

    • you're too naive son.. What else if it's not marketing strategy to make item look a bit cheaper. Even though most of people will just round it to nearest 0 by the way

  • Meh, I'm on the COTD mailing list and all they tell me about are watches, towels, perfume, sheets, sneakers, etc., but no mention of the good stuff like this one. I was 13 hours too late.

    • Got one, yay.

  • +1

Just got an email that my Chromecast was despatched. Now funny thing is, my Samsung M3 2tb is still waiting to be fulfilled and yet I got this order fulfilled earlier. Looks like a good job by Dicky at least.

    • Mine said processing ….. I ordered it just not long ago before it Out of Stock.

    • Just got an email that my Chromecast was despatched.

Same, lucky I was sitting down for that one; COTD & quick dispatch have never before been in the same sentence for me. I'll have to take back one or two of the many bad things I've said about them! ;)

      • +1

Because despatch from DSE this time.

        • Ah, it makes sense now. Cheers! :)

    • Just an update, looks like my Samsung is despatched as well. Going to be lots of gadgets to play with over the next week.

  • +1

    Back in stock mates ……

    • And out of stock again.
