Telstra ZTE Cruise Pre-Paid Mobile Phone $10 Including $10 Credit at Harvey Norman

90

Hi all,

I was looking (unsuccessfully) for a cheap Telstra-compatible phone I could use to get the google play credit from the upcoming Woolies sim offer.

I didn't find a cheap internet-capable handset, but in my travels I came across this offer which might be useful for someone who doesn't need a data-enabled phone (is there anyone in this category any more?!).

Similar to the Woolies deal but at Harvey Norman.

  • also at Coles.

    • Are these still sold at Coles for $10 ?

Do HN make you fill out the government form for mobile phones when you pick this up, or can you do it online with Telstra? What about Woolies? Coles?

    • +2

I've bought at least 5 prepaid devices in the last year, never filled out a form. HN, Officeworks, Woolworths, or Coles

      • +2

        I've had to at Coles

Ditto. this is why I asked.

You'll need a phone that can run "google play" to buy anything with the credit, hope you haven't wasted your $10 already if this is your only reason to get this phone

  • $9 starting Wed 10/6 IGA drakes.

  • thanks, I haven't bought this one, just submitted it here in case it helps someone else. Yes, my only reason to buy a Telstra phone would be for google play credits. My current phone is fine but locked to Optus by Boost so I've watched the other recent deals everyone's enjoyed but haven't been able to participate. I couldn't find a cheap smartphone so decided to try and unlock my current phone instead, fingers crossed it works.

  • Is there a way to transfer the "Bonus $10 credit" via creditme2u to another sim to be used for google play credits ?

    • -2

Yes but it will cost u 25c

    • +1

Bonus credit (aka funny money) can only be used for calls and texts, you can only cm2u with "recharge credit"

  • How long does the battery last on this thing?

    • 820 mAh, Talk time: up to 3hrs.

  • I presume this is locked… Can it be unlocked?

  • How cheap do you want it to be?
I'm also thinking of getting one, and so far looking at something like this (the seller also has a few other models between $30-$50 delivered). I think it's not too bad, considering if I'm getting one of the Chinese android tablets I'll probably be looking at around the same price.
