note I think the brand 909 are actually going out of business, the guy at Masters told me they are clearing them out and stocking a new brand called Trojan or Trident, something like that.

    There's a banner on the Kogan site saying they're an authorised dealer so i assume Masters exclusivity is just to bricks and mortar stores

  There is reason why it's so cheap. I would give this one a miss the failure rate and return on them are very high. They are also pretty loud compared to other ones. 909 are gmc tools rebadged.

    Could be a white label product …

    It surprising how often "different" products are white label goods meaning they're made at the same factory then have customised cases or sometimes just a different label.

    The "different products" then go out to be sold at different price points where sometimes the marketing and brand is the only differing part of the product. Sometimes the same product gets used for completely different purposes - and of course the price varies enormously. It's not uncommon for the prices to vary by ten times for what is essentially the same product.

    I tried this on Friday and they guy told me they're on clearance and most stores sold out a long time ago, you can try though. Masters price match policy says it matches online stores too

  I wouldn't recommend it at full price but fine at this price. Gets pretty hot and smelly if you're cutting metal/ heavy grinding and stuff but does the job I guess

    I thought exactly the same, i wouldn't have paid full price for it when you can get a Dremel for $100 but i think for $30 it's ok for odd jobs

      Still have my $6 corded kit from kmart in its packaging, glad I didn't have to pay more to keep one on the shelf. When it's used so infrequently cordless isn't much of a benefit

        I looked for one of these when they went on clearance at Kmart, unfortunately there was no stock around me. I'd be pretty confident to say the 909 one is better than the performer brand Kmart model.

        @emerson: yeah should be the one, but never assume, this unit is battery operated while the other is AC, I would back an AC tool over a battery one every time in absence of a property comparison

  do you think this would have the power to cut locks or chains or car bodywork . Last time I brought some thing from bunning it would luck up if i try to drill wood (with 3mm )

    not really no. you really want a proper angle grinder for that sort of work. (i mean, you could… but it would be painfully slow and the tooling really isnt suited to that sort of thing)

        Get some of the Dremel reinforced cut off wheels and it should be no probs. But you go through them pretty quickly on heavy work so will start to cost.

        As mentioned a cheapo 4" or 5" angle grinder is the go if doing it a lot. You can probably find one of the retailer's home brands for the same price.

  anyone else got theres? when mine charges the red light flashes (which at first i assumed was an error), then goes to green flashing, then solid green… which seems rather strange imo. anyone confirm this is normal?

  the manual isnt any help, stoopid engrish makes it as clear as mud..

  taken from the manual

  When the green light is on, the battery is fully charged.
  When the green light stops glowing, the battery is charged.

    Yeah, got mine yesterday.
    The manual and functions are unusual, mine did the same light sequence as yours but seems to work fine once charged.
