        Replace "Not" with "Only".

Last time I used my BankWest Master Debit Card, I copped some foreign fee still haha. And yes I used AUD. Or do I enterpret it as AUD = $8 = SG dollar $8.24? mmmmmm ? Nfi.

you probably booked on tiger's singaporean website.

        • @keano: Can you book Australian domestic flights from a singapore and australian site? I didn't even know there were multiple sites (thought it was all the one site, with sections for each domestic market)

I too got a small fee (about 1-2% I think) last time I did this with a BankWest MasterCard Debit Card.

It seems it counts because BankWest charge a foreign transaction fee even though it's processed in singapore in AUD.

It seems like Tiger should make it clear at the payment stage that processing payments is done in Singapore given that this type of fee is so common, either that or start charging in Singapore Dollars so that people will expect fees.

  • whats with that payment condition.. is a debit card cheaper to swipe or something for the company? so if i were to book and pay with a visa, would i be billed $26 (syd - gold coast) for the ticket or do i get some different rate altogether?

  • I just paid using a australian issued mastercard debit card and it only charged me $40 for 2x tickets from melbourne to sydney return. checked my account balance and only $40 was taken out.

  • I've bought from Tiger before using a CBA direct debit m/card and I had no problems. Anything thats a direct debit m/card should be okay.

You have to pay an extra $7 ($25 for emergency exit seat) for your seat on the $20 SYD to GC fare !!. Once you add up the seat fee plus the ccard fee it isnt that cheap anymore :(

    • No you dont. You click on I dont want to choose a seat and you dont get charged.

  • Is it OK to use friend's debit mcard? Does anyone know if while travelling the person must be carrying the card used for booking tickets?

    • I'm pretty sure it's ok to use someone else's debit card so long as the transaction completes, it's a payment method so unless your friend starts chasing after this unknown tiger airfare on his statement you should be fine.

      • Thats correct. When you pick up your ticket it doesn't matter who paid. When you buy the ticket you will need to list the travellers name & DOB (as on passport/license/ID) and they will check it against that when you board.

        • thanks guys, got this confirmed from Tiger and booked $10 tickets..Cheers

Its ok on Australian Domestic but NOT on any International route by Tiger.

  • Can someone help me with my rather naive/ignorant question?
I've found some $20 flights for the Syd-GC route, but was wondering why the Regular Fare is showing up as only $35.
Is this the cost of the flight normally? Why is there such a substantial difference b/w the cost of this flight & others on the same day?
Is it because of the particular aircraft they'll be flying, or is it just merely a reflection of demand eg. they have heaps of seats left over on that flight? And is it also because late evening flights are generally preferred amongst travellers (and hence they will generally cost lower in fares?)

    • From my experience, Tiger usually charges more for specific days (i.e. Friday and Sunday) and those days don't usually go on sale fares, so you'd find with specials like these don't apply to particular days.

      • Different flights will attract different prices. eg. Prime time flights will be more expensive. It is based on days and also based on times (eg. cheaper to fly early morning on a Sunday rather than Sunday evening)

  • Thanks guys! Just booked flights for 3x Syd-Melb for $96 bucks, inclusive of everything return. :) A very cheap price to visit the family down there. :)

    • so thats $36 in credit card fees…a joke!

  • Thanks so much, just got two return tickets to Sydney (including 15kg checked luggage) for $60. I absoloutely love these sales

Wow, this is a great one! They're selling superfast, but I've just pushed adioso to resync which days still have the cheap fares available (though be aware, they're selling so fast it does get a bit out of date fairly quickly), just search for the fares you want, ie:
    - http://adioso.com/au/sydney-to-melbourne.html

Very cool sale, Tiger - Happy hunting!

  • So what was the verdict with the debit mastercard fee thing?? I too have booked tiger flights numerous times with my bankwest debit mastercard and always got charged some foreign fee??? So is this a fee that Bankwest charge or Tiger? Cheers for any help with understanding this?
