    This is a pretty decent laptop for the price; the 1080P screen makes it a good buy for a workable resolution.

    In the future I would upgrade this with a hybrid SSHD drive.

      can't believe in 2016 1080p is a selling feature.

      Have a 2009 Sony laptop with 1080p and has almost identical specs in every other regard too. Except i7, bluray burner, Win7 and Made in Japan.

      Pretty sure my ~2005 HP laptop also had 1080p

        An increase in DPI on a 14" screen isn't always a good thing. Window's still doesn't scale as best as it should, so 1080p is ideal.

        Probably because resolutions on laptops are not a sales point. I've heard that 5 inch FHD screens are dirt cheap nowadays due to over supply issues.

        You have to subtract the Windows 10 Professional down to Windows 10 Home and then add the FHD screen and you get the price/specs he posted in the OP. No mistake here :)

      Supposedly there is a new SSD technology coming out later this year that will make the drives bigger and much cheaper than we already see them for. Might be worth just waiting for that rather than buying an SSHD.

        Lenovo's stuffed up my thinkpad repair 3 times and now refuses to contact me back.

        The whole process started on Dec 4 It's now been another 13 days since their twitter rep said their customer care team would give me a call.

        Take that into account before you buy a thinkpad

          All of my computers are business grade HP and I can't praise them highly enough. I have had HP Business grade laptops for a decade and I run 2 x HP Micro-servers. Apple products are expensive and you have to deal with them being Apple but I haven't heard the build quality being questioned. What is your point?

          Apple are good if not the best, but they make overpriced paperweights.

          HP have a lot of rubbish consumer products, but their business notebooks are some of the finest machines on the market. Their elitebook series is probably my go to business laptop. They're built like tanks and their next day business support is pretty good.

          HP warranty is good, but their turn around times are a bit dismal.

          @cDNA: I agree with all the HP comments but the Apple comments come across as just anti-Apple fanboy. Considering Apple is the go to for many in large sections of the media industries it must have something going for it. I have never owned any Apple product other than an iPod touch which I bought because every other mp3 player I bought failed or was persnickety. The iPod wasn't. I only retired it when I decided my Android phone did everything I wanted. I don't buy Apple because of the price and their business model but most people I know who have their products seem satisfied.

      Depends on the product.

      Precision = high end brick thinkpad like the W series

      Latitude = T/X series thinkpad.

      Vostro = Edge series thinkpad. AKA the shit one that's advertised as a business laptop, but no self respecting IT department would order

      Inspiron = Ideapad, other Lenovo models. Shit plastic consumer models.

      In general, you'll want to get Latitude-tier stuffs, which in general Dell is cheaper. The last good Thinkpad was the Sandy Bridge series before they crapped the keyboard. However, Dell outlet stuffs are ALWAYS 1366x768, and even if you want to upgrade the screen you'll need to get your hand on a full channel LVDS cable, as the one that come with the laptop only take up to 1366x768

        I picked up a XPS 15" from the Outlet. It's okay, but my next laptop will be the X1 Yoga OLED. I really like the trackpoint..

        Don't really see a huge reason to jump up from my Thinkpad X220 right now, though

      Lenovo have better keyboard and trackpad in general across the range.
      Dell has backlit keyboards even in Inspiron range consumer grade.
      Dell is cheaper overall but if you value better keyboard & trackpad then Lenovo is the way to go.

    I'm amazed Lenovo have ok pricing in AUS, in NZ they priced themselves out of the market in the last 3 years. Same SKU mentioned in OP from NZ site(with FHD panel and same MONKEY coupon discount) is $959NZD/900AUD shipped.

    Three new quad core skylake chips have been released. If you're wanting to buy a laptop and don't mind spending $2000+, the macbook pro 2016 is worth holding out for. Just install windows on it if, like me, you can't stand OSX.

    Shipping took exactly two weeks and I got the following:

    I swapped the HDD for an Evo 850 500GB (extremely easy to do with the E460) and this laptop is snappy. No issues with the reinstall of Windows 10 and activation occurred automatically. Might be too early to comment but stoked with the purchase and highly recommend for this price point (although picked up a $200 cheaper with the earlier TA post).

    Adding 8GB of RAM is $50 for 2 DIMMS, so 2x4GB works out $25 each which isn't a bad buy but if you want to go for 16GB RAM it's $300 for 2 DIMMS which is 2x8GB and works out to be $150 each!?

    Just wanted to mention that the internal drive is a slim 7mm. My 9mm SSD (intel 330) initially wouldn't fit. I had to remove the SSD cover and tape the base on.
