  • Wow - great prices.

    What are American Airlines like?
I once flew United many years ago - it was not a good experience.

    • Bit of oldish planes, customer service is okiesh. connecting flights are usually new planes but quite small ( you can't take your carry on luggage on them) to be honest I felt bit suffocated

      • +2

The planes AA uses to the US from OZ are the latest boeing 777-300ER and are really modern on the inside.

    • Flew with American Airlines from Mexico city to Dallas brand new fleet. They code share with Qantas so they are legit.

  • I had a good experience recently. Plane on the way over was only about 60% full but was around 90% on the way back.

  • +2

American Airlines code shares with Qantas so theres a good chance of getting a Qantas plane!

  • Anything in premium economy or business to NY or Canada?
I searched on IWTF it came back as $5kish? Maybe I did it wrong

    • +1

$5k to NY in business class is actually a great deal.

The prices posted in the OP are definitely for economy.

      • -1

any link you can send me on the best deal given your experience

      • Actually nothing less than $7k I must have got the search wrong

  • +2

    dam, so dam cheap.

  • +1

Is it worthwhile doing one way to Seattle then return from new york?

I have to visit seattle at some stage but am hoping to go New York and a few other locations, dont know the best way to do such a trip

    • +2

Also interested in this; would like to start in San Francisco and fly out of NY… or vice versa. Is this possible with these types of fares?

      • just checked - booked the 500.00 flight to san fran and then when you want to leave book the flight out - worked out a tad more but works well!

  • +2

Went to the US a year ago, the currency is really putting me off (and clearly others) hence the price drops.

As for the airlines… I personally wouldn't…. mind you, they can't be any worse than their domestic services.

  • +1

Perfect for doing a status challenge as there's one that you can apply for.
    http://www.pointhacks.com.au/aadvantage-challenge-guide/

    • I heard AA are moving to a revenue based system for status challenges this year. When that happens, you only get 5 miles per USD1.00 spent.

      • But a trip from Melbourne or Sydney would easily earn you 12,500 miles enough to qualify for platinum

        • LOL I just said they are changing to a revenue based system later this year. Once that happens, miles travelled will be irrelevant, and you will earn EQM at the rate I stated above.

  • So many US sales! Thanks Rep. Any idea if we will see Euro Summer 2016 sales soon?

Just found Melb->Vancouver for $1019 so updated the OP.

  • Would have loved some deal for October.
Hopefully some will come up. Thanks op for the post.

  • Someone just found dates for $1028 Melb->NYC so I've updated the OP. Thats including CC charges as well - pay by POLi and you are down to just $1009 return.

  • +2

Just over $1000 return to new York? Sweet baby Jesus that's cheap!

  • Even found a cheap flight to NYC from Perth.

  • +3

    $984 brisbane to denver

long way to go to get high though

  • Ok - lots more cheap flights have been found. I've done a major update of the other city prices. Hope you are finding something useful :)

  • Booked Brisbane to LA return for 2 adults and 1 child for $26820. Yay :) Appreciate the heads up from IWTF but went through Webjet as I don't trust BYOJet.

    • and all the best with your upgrade to First Class!!
EDIT: Just realised you are probably flying First Class already with that.

      • Heehee, oops :) Meant to say $2620. Was too excited when typing!

        • Well in that case.. Good luck (to me too) with the upgrade to premium economy or business class!

    • Is that business or first??

      • My quick search suggests $26820 would be more than enough for flying first class with American Airline for 2 adults and 1 child. However, $26820 was a typo :D

    • +1

Fair enough - though BYOJet is now largely owned by Flight Centre (not sure if you'll think that is better or worse).

  • +5

^ must be a first time ozbargainer to pay $26K to go to the usa!

  • Hey rep / OP when do these deals expire??

    • Sorry, I don't have any info, and there isn't anything on their website about a sale.

      • Well you can't depart in August I know that much!!

  • Loving the youtube link :)

  • Booked, Paid, Confirmed
and then cancelled by the airlines.

if it is too good to be true, then probably it is

    • who with, thats disgraceful

      • BYOJet, american airlines

        • This just happenned to me too.. went through to BYOjet, booked the AA flights then 1 hr later email saying they can't accept the booking..

I have half a mind to Neg this deal dince you cant book anything…

  • so with this web site, i want to search the cheapest place to fly over easter, so i fill it in as required. I then get a list of destinations and their prices, so click on them, and its for dates in May/June etc. Am i missing something or is this search screen no good?

  • Has anyone booked these with BYOjet they look very dodgy!

  • Just some information for anyone still looking to book. I read what the above comments mentioned so I didn't wish to take the risk with BYO. So I went to Flight Centre and they beat the prices for same flights. Might help somebody.
