      The alternative would be a non-replaceable battery that degrades after so many charges and discharges. It would also be hard to replace in the future unlike these.

    Interesting idea. So it's basically a watch with Bluetooth capacity to tell you whether you have phone calls and more? Can you use it to get notifications for apps as well?

      It is very basic. Like the Xiaomi Miband, it does not have a 'screen' of any type, it just flashes and vibrates. But unlike it, it tells the time and the battery is removable. It runs on two batteries — one powers the clock movement and the other larger CR2032 battery runs the 'smartwatch' portion.

      If you want a screen to read notifications on, this is not the smartwatch you'll want… Pebble or Moto 360 is your best bet.

        I was thinking on the lines of what miband does like vibrations for apps like messengers and such, not just for phone calls. I am just asking because it doesn't mention anything about the app notifications.

      Currently there is no feature to get notifications for other apps, but Elephone have been releasing updates recently so it might happen.

        There are times when it's useful, usually when you don't want to have your phone ringing but still want to have some idea on who or what's triggering the notification. i.e. library, at night, when you are on bus and can't be bothered to take the phone out to check the notification.

        I have miband and most of the times, my phone stays on silent or vibrate. I personally have my miband set in such way that it vibrates differently depending on who's calling and on what app's triggering it. That way, I can concentrate on things without needing to look at the phone for something low on the priority list.

        I find the vibrations to be useful in a noisy environment. Very useful at the pub on a Saturday night.

        Funny you say that… it's already been done by a few companies. Most have failed unfortunately like Giance while Chronos looks promising. I've even seen some others from Chinese companies appearing on Taobao.

          I remember Sony (or a company within Sony or something) doing something like that as a project, with e-ink display on strap, as well. It looked promising but it's been a while so I cannot remember the exact detail too well.

          Oh, then you might be interested in TipTalk. it simply replaces the watch strap of your current watch, and still lets you talk with it. You simply shove your index finger into your ear to transmit the vibrations (bone conduction tech) to hear and the microphone on the band receives your voice.

          Apparently it will be priced just under $80 USD ($111 AUD), cheaper than the Chronos.

    Smart watch stuff aside, at least for this price you are getting a quality Swiss Rhonda movement and a sapphire crystal. The watch case finishing looks OK too. Much more than you get from some of those branded China "fashion" watches for less.

      That's what I was thinking - were this a citizen ecodrive I'd be on it in a flash - a decent Swizz quartz movement and sapphire is the thing I'm looking at, and the link to the phone for notifications the 'play' aspect. I may be showing my age, but ~ $300 for a software driven device whose battery is going to be dead in two years is hardly something you'd get your offspring as a life milestone present, whereas this is cheap enough for school/uni/work wear without looking [and performing] like something from the bargain rack at a $2 shop.

      Not currently. The app does look similar to Xiaomi's and GFit may be included later.
