HSBC is a pain in the arse. I want to have nothing to do with them.
They are all the same, but Bankwest, CBA and HSBC are worst of the worst.
Agreed, I joined HSBC once and it was a pain in the arse. Not all banks are perfect (from my experience) but HSBC definitely is up there as one of the worst in terms of annoyance.
You can get $11 ticket from Optus any days or $12 using Membership Reward card for ANY sessions including Sat after 5pm, why bother with this.
2 for 1 on full price ticket and with restriction of Wednesday only is NOT a deal !!!
Regular price on Wed is $21, so it would be $10.50 a ticket. Yes a Wednesday restriction, but still sounds like a deal to me. or am I missing something?
Also, with Optus, I think it's +$3 for recliner seats?
Buy a $2 optus prepaid sim and activate. Sign up to optus perks. Can book online without booking fee (and get my seat of choice) and watch any movie for $11 on any day (Except after 5pm Saturdays).
Why would I sign up to HSBC, or be forced to use HSBC on a Wednesday at the ticket office/candy bar (miss out on the preferred seats) for a saving of $1?
EDIT: Additional charge for Xtremescreen and Recliner seats may be worthwhile if included in the 2 for 1. But only if you already have a HSBC, watch extremescreen recliner seat movies on Wednesdays, and don't mind sitting on side/getting to movies early.
You can use buy Hoyts Reward for $12, there is 1 free ticket included which can be used for any time.
@samehada: Sure it's a loophole. But I didn't mention as contradictory to T&C. (h) Individuals may not simultaneously participate in HOYTS Rewards and any other HOYTS membership program…
@venu: Well, many deals on ozbargain are exploiting loopholes anyway :) Beside, I don't think it is a problem if you have Optus Perks and Hoyts Membership at the same time.

Just go buy a M&M chocolate. They have the 2 for 1 offer any days of the week. The 'specially marked' package replaced the standard packaging and are everywhere now.
Two LUXE tickets for $32 is a deal. Don't be ridiculous.
Luxe tickets include free popcorn and soft drinks.
You could also get cheaper movie tickets if you are a RACV member I believe? Used to get them a lot some time ago but not sure if it's still running

True, but to get the Optus perks you have to be an Optus user, to get Hoyts rewards you need to sign up, they're really no different.

Do we know whether the tickets are purchased through the Hoyts website using the HSBC card or externally through HSBC? If it's the former it'd be a good way to earn up on the Hoyts Rewards Points.

It seems to apply to Hoyts LUX cinemas where tickets cost $30, so in effect you can get LUX tickets for just $15. Or a standard ticket for just $10.
And it also seems that all you need to do is pay with your HSBC credit or debit card, no vouchers or codes or whatever. And I think it's free to get a debit/credit card from HSBC??

So it appears that the HSBC 2 for 1 prices are as follows (+ booking fees if booked online):
$21 (10.50 each) for normal (even with recliner)
$24.50 (12.25 each) for recliner+XS
$39 (18.50 each) for Lux 2 for 1. (Lux tickets usually 30, 15 each would've been amazing, 18.50 is still good though)
There's an acknowledgement checkbox, wonder if they actually check if the card is HSBC Visa.

Read the T&C, but wondering what happens if you a student or senior concession, I assume concession tickets dosent apply?
