Good, light and durable surround sound gaming headset

I've just recently broke my Plantronics Gamecom 777 headset (broke apart as I opened it to put on my head), and need a new one. I'm thinking the Razer Megalodon, as it looks light and durable (ie. not made of cheap chinese plastic). Does anyone know where I can get a good bargain on this, or any other good gaming headsets? Cheapest Megalodon on eBay went for around $140ish + $45 delivery :(

    Have you considered the G35?

    • Yeah, I have. It's a little too top-heavy. Also, I'm scared if I stretch it too wide when donning it, it'll break the cheap plastic on it.

  • May not help your situation but I have been using the Plantronics audio 770(discontinued) for a few years now.

That type of design is extremely durable.
No plastic cracking when you open them up.

Seems there may be a few stores that still have them in stock which surprises me.

  • I would get the G35's.

  • Surround sound in a headset is a gimmick. Those gaming headsets are usually pretty okay microphones with crappy headphones attached. Get a half decent pair of headphones from http://www.headphones.com.au/. Then just use an external microphone. Every plantronics headset I've had, the microphone broke. I just use my webcam mic now, works great.

    • Clearly you have not used the G35's or you are not a gamer.

headphones.com.au are purely for movie/music listeners.
