Alright folks, I have found the middle-ground price here, with hopefully enough stock for everyone. If you're still on the fence about the Xiaomi Air Purifier 2 vs others… Just do it!

Get it first and read my recent post and its comments for all the right reasons later.

US$109.99 + $19.31 shipping = US$129.30 (AUD165.46) >>> select Priority Line "AU Express" 7-15 business days.

GB lead time and shipping service is pretty fast I'd say. Personally I bought this on the 27th and on 29th I was able to track with Australia Post, though it only says "Shipping information received by Auspost Fri 29 Dec".

Code ends New Year's eve 31/12/2017.

Happy New Year to everyone - live better in cleaner air in 2018!
Your New Year's resolution: stop procrastinating and just get one already!

Historical price data (shipped):

AUD$158.63 - Gearbest - 29/12/17 from the magnificent Gearbest. Stock limited to 20
AUD$159.83 - Gearbest - 29/12/17 from top-dog Clear. Stock limited to 50
AUD$170.14 - Tomtop eBay w/ "PUNCH" 10% disc - 27/12/17 from yours truly. No limit. eBay code expired
AUD$198.99 - Tomptop eBay - 18/09/17 - from MarketDeals

As you can see above, between $160 and $170 is a good deal. If you're going to wait, might as well wait until it drops below $100, by then Xiaomi would have released the Air Purifier version 5.

    Thank you. :)

  • Hey all, I’m new to the air purifying game :) I bought a secondhand Sharp Air Purifier FUY30JW a year ago which in which the filter is due for replacement soon. Does this Xiaomi compare well in performance? The filters also seem cheaper for the Xiaomi! Thanks

    • +3

Quite different tech. The sharps have plamsacluster technology which claims to destroy airborne bacteria and other particles (it may also dry out the air). Their filters also remove 99.97% of 0.3micron particles whereas the xiaomis mention 99.3% which isn't the same. Personally I'd stick with the sharp but you should do your own research esp if it's for your health…

      • Thank you!

Can someone please explain the plugs to me? I desperately need a couple of these at my place. CN plug, do I need an adaptor in Australia and is that safe???

    • +2

      You won't need an adapter

    • +3

CN/AU are he same, just CN they put in upside down by images

    • +3

Have a look at this photo. Credit to clear.

  • +1

Why do you need an air purifier in Australia?

    • +3

For those with allergens rather than pollution

      • Some neighoubours do like to burn all sorts of junk in their backywards

    • +1

Check the earlier post there are a lot of reasons and great feedback, we are a family of allergy/heyfeaver suffers, it has also been on my radar for fungus removal, and this is a great price!

    • +1

All A/C units have filters in them, and have you seen how dirty they can get?

      • +1

Yes and ducted heating inlet…of the dust!

  • +1

Priority Line shipping for me comes up as $48.90 and $25.70 to country Vic.
Just me or has shipping prices changed?

Not trying to cloud people's judgement, but this article might be a breath of fresh air or simply blowing smoke, keen to hear people's thoughts on the science behind the conclusions and applicability in Australian conditions.https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/xiaomi-auto-mode-leaves-air-unsafe-86-hours/

    • +2

Yeah this is what stopped me buying one a few months ago.

    • +2

I have two of them and I'd buy that data, they're so quiet on auto mode compared to one of my other air purifiers they can't be doing too much. I mainly purchased for when cooking with oils or it gets smokey in my apartment with no airflow. Then when it ramps up I can visibly see how effective it is.

Here's their promo video which would demonstrate the turbo mode which I'd believe- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNKnTghKlXs

I'm testing now to see if it retains a favourite higher fan setting, will report back in 3 hours. From what I can tell it has the ability to be a good air purifier but its fan curves on auto isn't aggressive enough, probably to attain better acoustics. Even then it's price is dirt cheap compared to other offerings.

      • +3

You can use a timer to switch it on turbo every 3 hrs if required.

        • +1

Thanks, I hadn't even looked into auto mode not being good enough so I'll setup automation timers for a higher favourite fan speed.

So I guess the take-away is the fan has the ability to be good but auto mode is bad because it tries to be too quiet and doesn't pass enough air. So all you need to do is set automation and timers in the Mi Home app and it will run just as well as devices that are two, three, four and five times the price.

        • +3

@bxpressiv: another post suggests that favorite mode now sticks.

        • I'm just testing it now, would be good if you could change the auto mode fan curves.

    • +2

Thanks for the link. Interesting reading.
I just saw in the comments that this can help with the going back to auto issue…
      https://smartairfilters.com/en/wechatimg132/

I have really bad hay-fever and the medications make me ill, so looking for something to clean the air in a room I hang out in the most, but at a low cost, so really tempted to try this machine anyway.

    • +4

This was mentioned on the last post, and the MI Home app has supposedly fixed the auto mode

    • +4

They've changed this now, the purifier stays in favourite mode indefinitely.

  • +1

    Done! I caved.

  • Came in at AU$172.06

    • same here, after applying the coupon code and selecting AU Express for postage, my ttotal was $172.06 AUD as well.

Bought it anyway, couldn't be bothered trying to figure it out.

      • The satisfaction when you receive and use this Air Purifier will far outweigh the extra 6 dollars and 56 cents you had to pay today. It is worth it!

        • +1

I'm still definitely happy with the buy! Looking forward to cleaning up the air in my stale smelling office!
Thanks for posting the deal OP! You are obviously very passionate about this product.

        • @Kinko82: I am also passionate about sharing a great deal with the community.

  • Would the pro be quieter as it would have to work less to cover the same area?

    • +1

Its like putting in a larger A/C in a small room

    • Yes. It is likely to be quieter at the same air flow rate. Ie low on the pro vs medium on the 2.

  • +2

Rep can you do any deals on the pro version?

    • +1

Member bxpressiv said below a "Max" version is just launched so it'd be best to stick with this one for now.

I just bought my first Air Purifier so it's good to wait and assess the performance in different rooms etc. before deciding if more of the same or bigger airflow version would be more suitable.

  • Have these ever been released with a AU plug?

    • +3

Chinese plug fits Australian or if you're worried about compliance you can swap the cable out for an Australian sourced one.

  • +2

For those looking at the pro for better performance or to cover larger spaces the just launched (give it six months) max has double the CADR of the pro.

    • +1

Thanks for that info, that helped me pull the trigger on the regular version as I can always see how it goes and upgrade to the max version later on and just skip the pro.

    • Interesting read, what I'd like to know is what the energy useage is

  • Mine only went as low as $175

  • I notice that After applying the code , I need to choose AU Express instead of AUSTRALIA Express to get to the op total price.
In case some of us miss it

    • +1

Yes, I did clearly stated that in my post.

  • +1

    Got one! Thanks OP!

  • Just found this for those on a budget. I am considering trying to build something like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kH5APw_SLUU

  • Expired for me?

    • Same for me :(

  • +1

Is the code still working? It keeps on wanting me to sign in but doesn't apply the discount.

  • Darn, got busy with NYE preparations yesterday and forgot to order this…next time I guess!

    • It expired earlier than expected.. was going to order yesterday morning but it had already expired.

      • Darn, I wonder why? Sky Blu any idea?

        • Not at this deal price. Currently, you can go US$139.30 (~AU$177.80) from Gearbest(only 2 left from China warehouse according to their page), or $179.091 from Tomtop eBay (assuming you are able to use the 10% discount code).

Tomtop one is better in this case because some users have reported receiving their order in a week's time and also plug is confirmed to be AU standard.

  • Hey guys

Pulled the trigger on two of these, both items delivered fairly quickly but both are missing the powercords from the unit to the wall?

At least i got the items delivered but not having the powercords is quite frustrating for both items.

I have raised two tickets now with Gearbest, hopefully they will come back to me quickly with a resolution.

Anyone else have such an experience? Is there a store rep on this forum I can contact?

    thanks so much.

    • +3

Have you checked the filter compartment? Open up the back cover and have a look.

I bought mine from Gearbest, received it last week but have not unboxed. When I read your comment I was apprehensive of the same issue, so I waited til I get home to unbox mine and checked. The power cable was right there INSIDE the unit. GB actually opened mine up to put in the AU adapter and another small item I ordered.

I really can't fault their service.
