      I got a no name set from ebay that uses aa in 2011 that has been excellent.
      They were $8.50 delivered.

        I got the same one a month or two ago. It's pretty good. It takes 2xAA batteries, and it works with eneloops.

    I like digital scales, so much better than the older sort.
    Not keen on cr2032s, never seen a cr2032 eneloop bargain.

    You can use coins to test them.
    5c = 2.83g
    10c = 5.65 Twice a 5 cent coin
    20c = 11.3 Twice a 10 cent coin
    50c = 15.55

      a set of test weights on ebay is pretty cheap. the el-cheapo scales i've got from ebay are pretty much spot on.

        Yeah, these scales only have 1g increments so I find the cheap test weights on ebay more suitable, if the point is to check a scale's accuracy.

        The other thing to keep in mind is that cheap scales may not have 100% linear strain gauges, so if you normally weigh things that are 500-1000g, accuracy should be checked with a weight in that range, rather than a coin that's 1/100th the weight.

      I just got a call from Kotara in NSW and she said there is no stock anywhere so they have had to place an order with the supplier.

    Great for bagging up things were accuracy is important.

        You can weigh liquids on any scale using a kilogram readout as long as they are a similar density to water.

        You would only need a liquid measure feature for weighing liquids that have a different density to water, like honey or oil. In those situations you need a ml or fl.oz function on the scales.

        If that doesn't sound like you in the kitchen, then stick with the scales the OP posted I guess!

          Yes, that's what I do now. I was wondering what was so special about that model that lets it weigh liquids - does it let you select the density manually? There are no details on the product page on the TGG website.

      Good deals don't often go well with C&C. It might be in stock at 10am when you order it online, but someone might have walked in store and picked it off the shelf at 10.01am.

        Agreed - deals that go live overnight are often okay as the early staff 'should' remove floor stock to fulfill the online orders before the doors open that day.

        Deals that hit during business hours are definitely impacted by 'C&C-lag-syndrome'.
