Good find, for those wondering, it's normally 5% off Coles, 5% off Myer & 10% off Priceline (plus 1% surcharge if paid with CC). Gift cards are bought by AGL via the Corporate The Ambassador Card Program, which is probably why Gift Cards take 5 days to get e-mailed out.

Very good deal. I have never seen this kind of discount on grocery gift cards before.

    • +1

You might want to check out the eGift Card Wiki.

      • Sorry, my first post was poorly worded. I have never seen a discount greater than 5% on Coles/Woolies gift cards.

edit: But that link is also very interesting.

  • Can anyone help me buy some priceline cards?

    • Yeah PM'd.

      • I need the Coles gift cards, can you help with that as well

        • PM if u still need any

  • Anyone know whether paying for the coles egift card with amex platinum edge earns 3ppd?

dont think you can pay with AMEX

Their type writer is running low on ink???

    • Why would a type-writer be involved with composing emails?

      • +1

        Less risk of being hacked
        Less typewriters going to landfill
Doesn't require electricity so lower carbon footprint
        Just to name a few

  • +3

Don't forget 1% credit card surcharge, so discount is slightly less (sorry I can't math, so I won't even try work out the actual discount).

    • +1

You can use internet banking to direct deposit to their account with no surcharge.

    • ~6.07%

    • Direct Deposit payments incur no surcharge.

  • I'm thinking of changing to agl for this, thanks OP!

  • I just order DJ gift card first time from them yesterday before you post this deal. then i find they highlight : IF lost in transit, the card will not be cancelled or replace….. this really worries me.

    • Isn't it a eGift card?

      • emails can and do get lost … somehow

  • ARGH I'm with ACTEWAGL, ho come they don't accept us ;(

    • Because ActewAGL is a joint venture between the ACT Government and AGL. It's a separate entity.

  • Was about to order a 5% off Coles gift card last night but just forgot about it. Good thing I did.

  • Doesn't work in ACT :0( for Actewagl

  • it keeps logging me out. Anyone's got the same issue?

  • They have 1.3 on ProductReview?

    • There are a few bad points compared to other egift card stores:

      1. It takes 5 business days, and it really does. Others are instant.

      2. 1% surcharge for credit cards. That means to avoid it, you pay cash right away, and it's a fiddly system. They give you a reference number and you direct transfer to them the money with that number attached and then hope nothing goes wrong…

      3. Because if something does go wrong, "IF lost in transit, the card will not be cancelled or replace". Never happened to me the few times I've done it but that could be an issue.

Still, this is a good discount to maybe balance all that out.

This is an eGift card. 😊

        • Yes, I'm aware. Considering they don't sell physical cards anymore, perhaps that is simply an outdated, vestigial part of their T&Cs. Or perhaps if the email doesn't arrive to your account for whatever reason, you find transit also applies to the transit of the email. I've certainly not received every email I was meant to receive in my life.

Hence, it is a point of disadvantage compared to stores that have better policies.

Honestly, I just went to check their T&Cs to check the context but their rewards site is down, so I couldn't.

        • "Lost in transit" also includes email delivery faults, I imagine.

      • i've ordered discounted coles e-gift cards from nib (via ambassador card) many times before and i've never had any problems. agl also uses ambassador card (the direct deposit bank account details are identical to that using nib)

  • is there any direct deposit option, ie any way to avoid the cc surcharge?

    • Yep, that's available as a payment option.

      • thanks!

  • Any nice ozbargainer can help buy a couple of coles eGC? thanks a lot?

    • Which one(s) do you need?

      • Thanks a lot. Need the Coles gift card. I think they normally have a limit on how many you can purchase, so make sure you really have spare limit :)

        • I've never actually purchased GCs from my AGL Rewards account so I can order the maximum allowed :)

        • @MathNerd: Sounds great man, sorry I was too busy to reply you yesterday.

  • Does anyone know how long we have to use to Coles eGift cards? A couple of months ago, it was 12 months expiry but hopefully now longer (3 years+) to comply with new laws

  • It says to use online… can you use these egift cards in store? At woolies you can use their egift cards in store.

    • Coles egift card can only be used in store, not online or petrol station.

  • Any one else got this error message when trying to log in?

    Something unexpected happened.
We are sorry for any inconvenience. My Account is unavailable right now. Please check back soon

Link direct me to a endles loop of login screen.

    Anybody know why?

This is a good deal to get.

      • Thank you for the help, but it still same loop but without need to login.

    • I'm stuck in an endless loop as well, it keeps bringing me back to my account

    • the agl web site is a poorly designed p.o.s. if you are ad-blocking sites like newrelic.com and other tracking sites the whole thing just falls over.

  • Do you get flybuys points on AGL rewards purchases if you have your flybuys linked to an AGL account?

I decided to cancel my transfer to AGL and stick with energyaustralia.

  • anyone know if the coles eGift card can be used to purchase itunes card ? if yes, this is can be stacked up with the itunes discount at coles on the next 15% discount.

    • No, it's not possible at all, at least currently. Coles System is locked down and complies with their Terms & Conditions which excludes the ability to purchase other gift cards using a Coles gift card.

  • I know this is asked a lot but can you buy gift cards with egift cards at coles?

i tried and it didnt work, but many say it does

    • In their T&C

Gift cards cannot be used to purchase gift cards.

however, it's on the discrepancy of the cashier. Good luck! 😉

      • +1

        hmm, so its discretionary?

I did it at self serve about a year ago and it simply didnt allow me, even with staff intervention

        • No, it's not possible at all, at least currently. Coles System is locked down and complies with their Terms & Conditions.

But many people saying that it works. Depending on the staff.
Which I found a bit unusual

  • "Something unexpected happened.

it keeps popping up this message after log in.

I'm in a perpetual loop where the agl rewards site asks you to login to your regular agl account which then redirects you to the agl rewards site…

  • +3

For those getting an infinite loop:

    1. Ensure any ad-blocking is turned off.
    2. Login to your utilities AGL account (Not your AGL Rewards Account) here.
    3. After you've logged in, visit here.
    4. Click the "Activate in My Account" button.
    5. This should allow you to now connect to their new AGL Reward portal (AGL recently have transitioned from their old to their new portal).

    Hope this helps! 😊

Thanks for the tip, but I've done all that and still in a loop…

Just used my NRMA membership to get Event Cinema tickets (were cheaper than Member-Advantage anyway).

      • +1

Ah, that's disappointing 😞, might need to address the issue with AGL support directly then. Sorry it didn't help with your issue.

    Email from AGL:

    Hi ,

    Accessing AGL Rewards problem.

We got in touch recently with some great news about our relaunched Rewards program. Unfortunately, if you’ve tried to log in, you may have had some difficulty getting to your Rewards.

This happened because you’re one of a small group of customers who have multiple accounts, and our system is having a tough time sorting out which account we need to log you in with.

We know this is a disappointing outcome and we’re sorry for any trouble we’ve caused. We’re working hard to fix this issue and we’ll let you know once we’ve found a solution.

    Yours sincerely,

    The AGL Rewards team

They all expire pretty quickly - specially considering they take 5 days to deliver. You've got less than a week to spend it!

    • You are confuse. The expire date are only to buy the gift card before the offers expired. Once brought the actual gift card don't expire for about 3 years.

      • OK I missed the word "offer" in those sentences and thought it was saying gift card expires; could've been worded slightly better still :P

  • For those who try bank transfer you don't need the # in the transfer details. Called em up and they have had a few calls like this (probably cause banks don't like # in details).

So you just need the number and surname in the details. ie 5200Turnbull

  • is it just me or the rewards website is down for everyone? i am unable to buy any gift cards - i get error screen when i click on any of the gift card links :(

    • Well at lease you can see the gift card. I couldn't, just stuck in a loop just like one poster above
