Anyone ever successfully done a real door lock with one of these?
Yeah its actually surprisingly easy once you get the technique. Some locks are hard and some are too easy. Our big padlock on the front gate was far too easy. Keep WD40 on hand. The smoother the tumble the easier it is.

Lock picks are legal. It’s what you do with them that makes them illegal. This has been covered in many other posts of this same nature.
If you own them and use them on your own property or on property that you have permission to use them on, they are not illegal.
If you use them on others property and/or without their consent, that is illegal. If you are suspected of using them on property that is not your own and have lock picks in your possession, this is also illegal.
Owning them is not illegal. They are not a restricted item. But, if you want to carry them around with you, best have a good reason.
