    • Wow thats cheap less than 500 pp return!! Wish these came up during winter there (they sometimes get down to around 800 return then)

      • last year, we did this for less than 1,500 return for 2 adults and 2 kids. What a deal.

        • wow that's great

          less than $200 one way

  • +3

Carry-on luggage only, so add another $20 each pp, per trip for check-in luggage.
Then add food and drinks… Easily another $20 pp, per trip…

So another $80 each for that.

    Still not too shabby ;p

I bought tickets during their 2 for 1 Japan sale in 2008, it was the best trip I'd taken! The flights went mostly without a hitch either except for a 1 hour delay flying out but other than that no complaints!
Wish I could go again but the flying dates don't suit my work arrangements!

    • +3

same here…and the exchange rate was around 103yen per AUD as well.

hindsight is such a cruel thing…!

      • you're right. i can't believe it went that high.

Does anyone know if there's flight sales to Japan around Oct-Nov?

    • They're general around $800 as greydaniel said. At that time it's roughly $400 each way.

    • me too - need to fly there in Nov

    • me too - need to fly there in Nov

    • Just wait. Sale fare prices for October/November almost always come up eventually. I flew in October last year for $420 return and in November for $450 return.

We'll probably head back in November but there is tons of time between now and then and I can almost guarantee that they will be on sale again beofre then!

And can someone edit the main listing as return flights are definitely included at the cheap two for one prices!

      • I hope the sale is soon because getting accommodation is bit difficult during autumn festival. Thanks for the heads up.

Where are you planning on going? Kyoto? If you want to save some money then consider staying in Osaka and just catching the train in to Kyoto. Not sure on the rest of your itinerary but if you have a JR Pass you can stay near Shin-Osaka station and catch the Shinkansen in, only 14 minutes each way. Otherwise there are many normal trains, either from Shin-Osaka or Osaka station, roughly 30 minutes and 500yen each way.

If you do plan on staying in Kyoto book your accommodation as soon as you can (ie now). You can always cancel it if you can't get the sale fares, but I'm sure you'll be fine.

Make sure you go to the night illuminations in Kyoto too, awesome!

As always, www.japan-guide.com has everything you need!

  • these are the travel periods from Gold Coast
    4 Apr - 3 May 2011
    10 May - 29 Jun 2011
    19 Jul - 28 Jul 2011

most other cities are from may to jun or thereabouts

  • Holy cow these are cheap.

  • Too bad nothing for the next month or so. So much pow pow atm!

  • Any one knows it will be sold out within hours or days? I haven't got my AL application approved yet……

  • The single ticket prices are the same as the 2 for 1 offer (per passenger). Is anyone getting the cheap flights at 2 for 1? (~$250 each way for 2 people)

    Edit:
    Terms and conditions:
2 for 1 sale fares will be displayed and booked at half the total price per person of the lowest non-sale JetSaver Light fare for one person. Available sale fares will be displayed in our booking system at half the total price, which is the 'per person' price shown above. Bookings will show the 'per person' fare. These sale fares must be booked in pairs for travel on the same flight. Limit of 8 passengers per booking.

So with the fares being on sale for single travellers this 2 for 1 deal works out to be the same price?
    Great prices anyway!

  • well… one way fares are kind of useless but they do let you find your own way home. Need to figure out whether it is worth going now… return stopovers are a plenty to choose from!

    • Certain return tickets are covered too, just try a few different dates.

      • 2 for 1 on most fares there. Pay full price on the return. Keep searching for dates and book early.

  • looks like a good deal, does anyone know when the sale ends and how much they charge for a 2 year old?

    • I could be wrong but i think its the same as an adult fare after turning 2 years old

  • I've used these sales three times now, and have had no problems. Really good value and their planes are all quite new. Staff were all good. All round very enjoyable trips. Japan is AWESOME!

  • +1

I jumped on a few sales in 2009 just as the crisis hit and got $250 return from Gold Coast, no complaints :)

Back off to Japan next week, should be a good time!

  • Great price but it's terribly warm and humid in June and July.

If you can withstand the heat, go for it.

  • Sorry!
    Thanks for your search.
Our website is experiencing technical issues right now. We're working hard to fix the issue and help you find the fare you want.

The fare is cheaper on the return, so baggage does not really cost anything as it makes up for it.

  • i wonder how comfortable the jetstar planes are on long haul flights. spending 8 hours in a cramped seat is not a good way to start & finish your holidays

    • I'm 6ft 4 and found it manageable but I usually arrive at the airport a few hours before, get first in line and request the emergency exit seat; makes the trip much easier.

Otherwise sometimes at the airport you can buy an upgrade to Starclass for as little as $150 one way.

      • the seating is the same as the Qantas A330's, they have just covered the seats in leather.

Just be glad they didnt do what AirAsia did and stick 380 seats into a A330!

      • I didn't know you can 'buy' an update to starclass with that kind of price. Their StarClass sale seat is $600 around and you buy this cheap economy seat for $250 each. so you can save $200 if you can get $150 upgrade.

  • I went last March. BYO Food. I paid $30 (iirc), you get a meal and a snack. The snack was a meat pie… WTF. Cheaper to just buy food from them a la carte, or BYO.

    • They have changed the food pricing. It used to include unlimited soft drinks which made it good value, but now it is just two drinks. In general we book the food one way (on the way over) as you leave around 10am, so get lunch plus dinner. For the flight from Japan we never get food as the flight is at 8pm or so. Just grab a meal in Japan or at the airport. Kansai Airport has a large range of restaurants on the 2nd and 3rd floors. You can buy drinks from the vending machines near the gate (not before due to security).

  • I got two return tickets (Melbourne to Tokyo) for just under $600 each! #win

  • I missed the sale b/c I couldn't get my annual leave sorted in time. :( Does anybody know, from past experience/observation, if/when Jetstar will have another 2for1 sale to Japan? They've had one already, plus the Australia Day sale, so don't know if they'd have another one for later departures in the year.

I'm tempted to book regular prices, but would love to get in on this bargain!

  • so who bought tickets into tokyo, and are still planning on going?
it's terrible what has happened :(
