yes, a major minus. even the stainless steel cheapies in kmart do 1g increments (and cost less)

it depends on what the prices are for scales at kmart/bigw that suit your needs. but for lighter foods (eg powdered spices) 2g might be an inconvenience. if you're only measuring out foods that weigh kgs, whether is 1g or 2g increments won't make any difference.
