  • this deal is from buckscoop

    • to be exact., it's from dell..;)

  • Nice deal.

    Will think about ordering one.

The 17" monitor seems to be the only drawback.

Now also considering the Inspiron 1525 @ $699.

  • Where is the ecode finder box? I can't see it.

    • the direct link provided takes you to the product. No ecode needed.

Just upgrade the processor and use the 5% coupon code for the <$498 price.

    • On the main Dell webpage, the "E-Value Code" is along the heading at the top of the page (next to "Contact Us").

Otherwise, just click on the link Scotty added which takes you straight to the PC. You just need to select (under BASE SYSTEM) the "Intel(R) Celeron(R) D Processor 430 [-AUD 123.20]" and then "CONTINUE" twice, then enter the coupon code for the 5% discount and the total should then come down to $498.47.

And if you are registered with MoneyBackCo, you get 3% moneyback (but you will need to go through the Dell website link via MoneyBackCo).

According to the deal posted on Buckscoop, it expires on 22 May.

  • Can someone please let me know if I can upgrade the processor and the graphic card later?
I am not sure if they use the same motherboard for all the different options there.
I need a new desktop and I will probably just sell that screen on ebay "or keep it maybe"

    • The motherboard is not mentioned anywhere :-(

With Dell, its best to upgrade the system to whatever you like including the Monitor (I upgraded to the 19" and it was around $565). The problem is Dell tends to charge quite a premium on some parts that can be bought from a computer store for much cheaper.

With this system, it should just be looked as a basic starter system. For me, this is a nice upgrade from an Acer Aspire Desktop. It's not going to be used for gaming so these specs are fine for me.

      • I forgot to mention that I have a HP Pavillion dv9008TX that died about a month ago and I am using my eeepc with a 22" monitor and that is why I think this laptop is actually a good price "even without the monitor".
I checked that processor's reviews and they look ok and I am not gonna do any gaming.
The last issue obviously is that Dell's warranty will be void if I do any personal upgrade.

        • Mate this deal is for a Dell Desktop.
A Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop will cost you $699.

It looks like you want to do some upgrades to this system over time. I suggest you buy a system from a computer shop. You can go back to the store and buy the upgrades from them and have them do the install as well.

          • @Crownie: Thanks Crownie and I think I don expres myself properly :)
I know exaxctley what this is and what I was saying is that I already have a 22" monitor and even an external keyboard and mouse with a laptop that stopped working a few months after being out of warranty.
I am not buying a HP anymore and I was saying this deal looks alright and I do not need another laptop as the one I was using before was just sitting on a desk.
Other than that I think I will follow your advise and get one of those systems at MSY.
