    • Different model

    • Different model, this would consider a higer end model than the Xiaomi one.

      • What's the difference between the two? From the specs it seems the other one is much brighter?

        • This one is native 4k resolution.
Original xiaomi (white) is 1080p native, 5000 lumens.
Wemax version looks like this and bumped lumens from 5000 to 7000 lumens, still 1080p native.

"4k" on older models just means it can accept a 4k signal, it'll downsamole to 1080p.

          • +1

@krisspy: Yeah I know about the old white 1080p xiaomi one, but I want to know the how this 3rd model compare to the 2nd(Wemax)black e-shift 4k one. Is there actual confirmation that this new one has a native 4k chip? I really can't imagine this would be the case since the price here is so close compared to the 2nd one.

If this is a e-shift 1080p chip as well, from the specs the only thing I can see that is makes a real different is this new one have DTS cert speakers and a refreshed look. I guess can't say more until there's a side by side comparison on youtube I guess.

            • @la838: If this is a native 4K chip then this is a bargain.

            • @la838: The wemax one is the second generation still 1080p native with a bumped source lumen.

This is the third gen and the only one with with e-shift to achieve '4k'

              • @krisspy: Well this is confusing as hell, because this xiaomi one here uses 4k e shift looks exactly like the wemax one
                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZe9oos-IXU

And the one in this post has a different design. So are there 4 different models then?

                • +2

@la838: from memory there are the following models:

                  White xioami - 1080p
                  White wemax - 1080p
                  Black xiaomi - new 4k
Black wemax one pro - 4k input but only 1080p output (very deceptive)
Black xiaomi with sharp edges - newest 4k

                • +3

@la838: Okay, so here are all the models on the market:

                  FHD model:
                  Wemax One FMWS01C
                  Wemax One Pro FMWS02C
Mijia laser projector Global version MJJGYY02FM

                  4K model:
                  Mijia 4k projector MJJGTYDS01FM
                  Cinema 4k Projector L176

                  • @pilotyuan: Thanks OP,
Any deals on the “youth” non UST, Full HD model?(MJGTYDS02FM)
I got one for my son’s room last month from Aliexpress and I’m already impressed(my first projector ever). It will keep us happy until
I can afford the 4K UST one ;)

            • +2

@la838: Yes, for the 4k models, they both use pixel shifting to achieve 4k.
The lumens rating is different as well. L176 is 1700 ANSI lumens while Mijia 4k is about 1500 ANSI lumens.
The factory also says L176 uses better components as the higher end product line.

      • Do you selling the special screen for Cinema Xiaomi 4k Projector?

        • Sorry not at the moment.
We are working closely with a supplier to deal with the shipping. Will post a deal once we have that.

  • +1

    Whats the model #?

    • L176 or L176FCN

  • I have seen on YouTube that to get the best from a laser projector you need a PET crystal ALR screen, is this true. As they are suppose to be more expensive than a normal screen.

    • They are very expensive, a lot more expensive compare to normal screen

    • +1

to get the best from a laser projector you need a PET

      Is a goldfish OK?

    • The PET Crystal is not pertaining to laser projectors it's used to get the best out of any UST (ultra short throw) projectors.

If you want to know why there is an explainer page here https://darkenergyscreens.com.au/ust-alr/

    • +2

Actually PET crystal would be my second choice. The best would be Fresnel projector screen for UST projector. We've made contacted with a Fresnel screen supplier. The problem is Fresnel is hard screen only and the package is super bulky (about 2.5m long and 1.6m width for 100 inch)

PET crystal screen can roll so the package is much more deliver friendly.

My estimate would be below $1000 for PET but about $1500 for Fresnel but I would say Fresnel would be the best value for bulk

See the difference between PET & Fresnel.

i so want it!! but i'm so broke!

  • Anyone seen reviews on this?
Didn't even know this one existed.

  • your shop has no address, no contact details, no warranty details at all?

    • +1

Pickup north sydney. There would have to be an address there somewhere

  • +2

They cost 10kRMB which is $2000 in China and shipping won't cost no more than $150-200. How is it a bargain?

    • Is this for the 4k native version? Gen 2 of this looks exactly the same and is always advertised a 4k (accepts 4k signal but it's native res is 1080p) I know that one is $2k in mainland and $2.5k overseas

    • They sell if for ¥12999 in China , which is $2684 at XE rate. Then please don't forget GST which plays a big part.

  • Does this work with play store now? And English menus?

    • It has English menus.
The play store service would require rooting.
You can however install aptoide to install Youtube, Netflix, Prime etc without a problem.

  • +1

Is the User Interface for these newer models in English? Older models had non-English User Interfaces or broken English. That was a few years ago now though, so hoping someone knows if it's totally in English now?

    • +1

The MIUI has full English menu now after a few system upgrades in the past.
The launcher or interfaces however are showing contains(movie & shows) that are in Chinese as they are built for Chinese market.
I think most of the people would use it with Chromecast or Foxtel. Or install apps they want to use on it.

  • I nearly bought this the other day through Amazon AU. $3,499 for Aus stock but they had 10-12% off with shopback making it $3,079 delivered (noting that this was with 12% discount and doesn't look like this is available right now).
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Xiaomi-Projector-MJJGTYDS01FM-Andr…

    • That is us :)

Will put up the stock to Amazon soon.

      • Good to know! If the projector was $3,299 with 10-12% cashrewards/shopback, I'd been very tempted to buy one! I've checked out all of the youtube reviews and looks very impressive, especially with the right screen for UST with ambient light rejecting, but would like to see one in person. Do you know of any retailers in Melbourne that stock these?

        • Isn't Amazon cash back capped at max $50 cashback?

          • +1

@LHSolutions: I checked the T's & C's on shopback website and no mention of a max cashback. Unless I've missed something?

            • @panamawhisky: Just reading past shopback posts and someone stated: " It also appears that the $50 capping has been removed.".

Thats nice then :) more savings…

  • How does the warranty work for this model ?

    • We provide 1 year warranty.
If anything goes wrong, send it back and we will replace it for you.

  • +1

A lot of good info on these projectors, particularly the 4k model with rounded edges from the previous deal, in this thread on AVS Forums: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/68-digital-projectors-under-3…

  • So you definitely have stock in Australia and not being shipped from China and have to pay customs?

    • Yes, all local stock, GST included.

      • Okay thanks.

        Does this need an adapter?

        • No, AU plug included.

          • @pilotyuan: Would you happen to know what 3D glasses work with this?
            If this projector supports 3D.

            • @ajdj10: Hi yes it supports 3D.
It requires special 3D glasses, we will have it on sale soon.
