YourVoice e-mail leak?

As of about a year ago, I use unique e-mail addresses when singing up for things, in the form <randomstring><website>@<mydomain> for example [email protected] so if my e-mail address gets leaked, I have an idea who didn't keep my personal info secure or shared it with another party that didn't.

Today I received my first phising e-mail to one of these addresses, purporting to be from Lloyds TSB bank. It was addressed to the e-mail address I created for YourVoice. My records indicate I updated my YourVoice account to that address in November 2010, so it's leaked sometime after that date.

I know there are many others who also use unique e-mail addresses when signing up to things, and probably a few YourVoice members among OzBargainers, and was just wondering if any have received phishing/spam addressed to their YourVoice e-mail.

  • I use that email technique, as I consider it extremely important to know WHO leaked your email.

But sorry have not used YourVoice.

  • Hmm that isn't promising. I have a yourvoice account. They got taken over a year ago as well….

And a lot of people use not just unique email addresses to sign up OzBargain, but also use disposable email addresses as well. Some are even leaking email messages to the public such as spam.la.

I am fine with unique email addresses, however OzBargain will be banning disposable email addresses as there would be no way to contact you if there is an issue. How do you request a password reset if your email address is no longer valid?

    Sorry being off-topic :P

    Nope, never used YourVoice.
