This wireless mic will give you much better audio than an onboard mic. It has a built-in rechargable battery that recharges through USB Type C.
You can either simply clip it on and use its built-in mic, or connect a lav to it and use it like a traditional beltpack/lav combo.

have you used a lav mic with it? if so, can you recommend one for a hobbyist?
I haven't and I don't really know a whole lot about lav mics I'm afraid!
I reckon even a cheap lav will provide very good results as long as it is has some kind of wind shield on it.
The theory is that to record a human voice you do not need 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response.
Something like 200Hz to 2kHz will give you passable results, 100Hz to 5kHz is more than enough.
I never used lav mic's just tried it once (cheap aliexpress one with my mobile phone) - results were pretty impressive.

These are a cool little unit to have in your kit. Grabbed one 6 months ago just after they came out, and although I haven't used it properly yet, the few tests I've done with it have been impressive.
