Damn. I read it as Hoselink. Thought it was a really good Christmas deal.

      Almost purchased :)

    • -2

      done the same thing…..

Hozelock is a better product and brand that has been around a long time. They manufacture in the UK and I have a few of the hose reels from 2003 that are still working and still looking good.

      • +2

        I agree. Excellent quality.

      • +1

It might be a good product, but I would not agree that it is a better product than Hoselink.

        • its australia. For white people, everything from the UK is good except the food and the weather

Shame no 30m available I'm on the market for one. The Edison one on eBay looks okay too.

    • +3

You're kidding? Edison sell the worst cheapest crap you can buy and screw you on warranty.

      • Good to know I'll keep that in mind thanks

    • Maybe consider the 40m one on Amazon for $104

      • not auto

  • Bunnings have the 25m Nylex one on special from Boxing Day, was $99 now $75, you may be able to grab one early I got one yesterday, they still scan at $99 but they were putting stickers on in preparation for Boxing Day.

    • +6

I know I'm just one user, but literally everything Nylex in my yard has been replaced due to failure over a few years by other brands. Their brass hose fittings are especially poor and have all failed within 12-18mth.

      • That’s really interesting you say that, I had one hose burst after about 3 years, apart from that I have had good luck with the nylex stuff so far.

        • To be fair, everything has been brass, so it might be limited to that range? I've had good luck with the generic plastic replacements I bought in anger at 8pm from the big green shed.

  • +1

Bought hozelock fittings from last amazon sale and really happy , better than brass fittings IMHO , think this hose will also be good quality.

  • What sort of post/pole should I cement into the ground to attach this to?

I dont want to attach to the wall of my house…

    • check mounting dimensions for the reel.. Make sure ur post is at least 400mm concreted in the ground though, unless u want it to fall over (maybe 1.5-2 bags of concrete - I don't recommend quickset either if u use Ally post)…

      • What happens with the quickset in that situation

        • +1

Quickset expands the Ally with the heat produced - Chemical reaction of Quickset - which then leaves a slight gap when it cools/sets…

Also put a short length of reo-bar (6" or so) thru the post (perpendicular) to lock it in…

Thanks OP, bought the 40m one for $104.
Most expensive garden/yard purchase in my life but hopefully it will last and reach all spots…

    • That's not a automatic winder one is it?

    • Great find. Looks to be an even better bit of kit and better deal than the original post. Nice work.

      • It's a manual winder though

        • Yep. It gets great reviews though. 4.5 stars for the winder with a hose guide, 2m lead hose plus 20 extra meters over the 4.3 rated auto. Lots of online reviews speak about the newer version of the auto-reel failing and being nowhere near as reliable or resilient as the previous version/s.

I've ordered one of each, now have to decide which order to cancel…

  • Would it be okay to have this on the wall of the house that's uncovered - ie always in the sun?

    • hope so… guessing it would last no longer if covered

  • No good for NSW folk

  • +1

    Won’t let me buy :(

  • cant buy it? out of stock?

  • +1

I bought 3 of these for $50 each from the old Masters when they were still operating - all still going strong
