is this valid all month ??

Milked their 50%-off 6 packs deal, and I can see something similar happening here… :)

They've currently got 8-pack mixed Matilda Bay beers on special for $22.95, so I imagine with this deal you'd be looking at around $18-$20 (or less) for 2 6 packs.

  • Truly awesOme. Thanks!

  • yeah they're usually around the $18-20/6pack, so with the festival of the boot coming up, it might be time to stock up!

Do Dan Murphy price match this ???

    • I'd like to know this too. I have a DM's within 100 metres of my house but the nearest 1st Choice is about a 20 minute drive away.

      • needs to be within 10km for a price match…

i don't see how they could refuse based on the T&C's below…

    • I have no idea, I would like to know for future reference though. Going by TC should be fine, but has anyone succeeded in doing it in the past?

      • i might try tonight if i get time…

        • Dan's honored the deal, reluctantly though…
          :P

        • +1

haha well done! great sense of self satisfaction Im sure, but given that 1st choice is also presumably within 10km of your DM store, was it worth the extra hassle just to get a price match? I'd prefer 1st choice so I can use my 5% off coles myer gift cards..

        • within 10km of your DM store, was it worth the extra hassle just to get a price match?

          yes… Dan's was at Kew, 1st was at Preston, about a 15min drive (5 km ???)

  • Damn good deal! Very doubtful of a price match.

    • why not ?

      • I immediately see 2 things they could use to worm out:
        1. "Competitor's conditions may apply" - ie they can ask you to check into foursquare at Dan murphys first.
        2. "Excludes online offers" - they could argue that given the nature of this promo requiring checking in etc it is essentially an online offer.

Having said that, try your luck, never know if you get a good rep/manager they'll put it through anyway!

          1. why can't i check in and show it at Dan Murphy??? (iphone app allows you to check in from anywhere)

          2. it's not an online offer, it is an instore offer, you need to show the check-in instore

        • +1

they could argue that given the nature of this promo requiring checking in etc it is essentially an online offer.

you were correct, that's what the store manager said…

i replied that i have to walk in store and show them my iphone and i cannot purchase online nor get it delivered… he said he'll honor it, but said that other stores might not…

going to grab a pack of beez neez and fatyak this arvy

  • I can see a problem here for Virgin Mobile customers who cannot get a data connection to check in… :(

    • +3

As per above the "iphone app allows you to check in from anywhere", so check-in at home and then go to the store.

      • good tip…

Why is it that the world ceases to exist for anyone without an iPhone? :-S Does Mr. Jobs get a 30% AppStore-like cut from every 6-pack sold? ;-)

foursquare is available on android phones, blackberries and possibly nokia too.

I'll refer you to my low-tech option described on similar deals.

      1) Approach teller.
      2) Inform them that all your friends already know you're there.
      3) ???
      4) Profit.

Any other result is technological discrimination, something I like to call iPrejudice.

  • Miztadave u can use android too.

  • Do they have any good cider with this deal??

  • +2

the guys at my local first choice had no idea about the deal but it was fine as soon as I showed them my phone with the 4square details.

a pack of beez neez and a pack of fat yak.

    YEAH

  • +1

I used last months cider deal a few times, apart from the first time early in the month all i had to do was start to mention that I wanted to use the foursquare deal and it was done, no need to check in..
one time i only got the words 'I want to' before the cashier said 'foursquare..no worries'..

Though i guess it was obvious when you put 6 different cider bottles on the counter :)

  • what are the prices?? Think I will get a 6 pack of Dirty Granny (has anyone tried this cider, whats it like?) and a pack of Fat Yak.

  • Generally $20 per 6 pack although I've seen them on special for $18

  • +1

This is a fantastic deal for any beer lover. Probably the best I have actually used. No problems at Kotara store. $15.90 for half a case of Fat Yak. With 29 days to go, and two stores in close proximity I can accumulate sh*t loads of premium beer (its pretty good) for under $40/case (as low as $32). Saving about $600 and enough beer for the summer.

  • Same at Chadstone this evening $15.90. Very nice. Oodles of stock too.

  • Ok I just went to 1st choice and bought Beez Neez & Bohemian Pilsner for $15.90 :)))

  • Yep, can confirm this deal was honoured at 1st Choice North Rocks (Sydney). Got myself a 6-pack of Big Helga & a 6-pack of Redback for $18, plus Flybuys for the full $32 pre-discount transaction.

    Great bargain!

    • wow, I got the same combo here in Perth and it was only $15.60. Whats the added tax they've applied for Sydney?

  • i stocked up over the weekend, both at 1st choice and at Dan's… :P

  • I bought a coopers homebrew kit instead and will make my own :P

  • Rang the 1300 Dan murphy's number and asked about price matching this offer….

got told this was the first enquiry they had received about this offer

After a fairly long wait, and after some consultation with 'management' the answer was "no we will not price match as this is an online only offer"

    • i had no problem redeeming it in 2 Dan Murphy stores in Melb.

First one said it is online, but i said i need to go instore and ask for the offer at 1st choice… he agreed but said other stores may not honour it…

Second store read through the offer and said they would honour it…

had a copy of this with me each time… http://twitpic.com/6e69e9

      • Have written to them highlighting the fact that this isn't an 'online offer' as such, and in reality is no different to their or anyone else's own e-mail newsletter offers.
Thanks for that link….. might try my hand with that at my local….. Dan's is slightly nearer for me…..

        • i wouldn't bother ringing/writing…

just roll on up and ask if they will match 1st choice's matilda bay deal…

if they say it's an online offer, just say "no it's not, it's in store…" tell em to ring 1st choice and ask… there's a sign at each counter at 1st choice advertising foursquare… no details though… They are using foursquare to ADVERTISE the offer, but the offer is definitely instore, no vouchers either…

  • dirty granny cider is the most expensive $19 a 6 pack.

deciding whether to get beez neez or fat yak for the free one.

    • will 1st choice include cider in the offer? the deal says "FREE BEERS"

      • Yes cider is included. Both 1st choice stores I went to did not seem to stock it though.

Would love to know which stores in Victoria have it.

        • Dirty Granny is in stock in Port Melbourne

    • deciding whether to get beez neez or fat yak for the free one

go back the next day and get both…

  • +1

i think they will include it. usually beer/cider are counted as the same thing.

    • cool… might go back at grab 2 packs of cider :P

did anyone get any Alpha Pale Ale? I couldn't find any at the 1st choice i went to…

  • No luck with price match at Dan Murphy's in Prahran. The manager looked at me like I'd taken the maidenhead of his youngest daughter, phoned someone and said, "Sorry, can't do it."

  • has anyone used this deal and got the cider yet? how does it taste in comparison to things like Mercury Draught, Magners, Strongbow etc?

  • Just grabbed a Dirty Granny and a Fat Yak @ Ringwood 1st Choice.

  • If you dont have a smart phone with GPS functionality or just can't be bothered signing up for a foursquare account just show the checkout person this image to redeem (might want to hold your finger over the Albany Hwy location if you're not at that store): http://upload.ozbargain.com/2011/09/09/6672_beer.png

    • I just said to the guy that I wanted the 2 for 1 special from foursquare, he didn't even want to see my phone. :)

  • Great deal… I got a 1 six-pack of Beez Neez and one of Bohemian Pilsner for $18, nice!

  • +1

Loving this deal. Got 6 packs of biz neez, fat yak, bohemian pilsner and redback so far thru price match at Dan Murphy. Thanks to OP.

    • add Alpha pale ale and Dogbolter to that

    • No worries, you're lucky you have a large selection of Matilda Bay products to choose from!
I don't have those final 2 at my store; tried the other 4 and Redback is my favourite.

  • Got a 6 pack of Fat Yak and Beez Neez lastnight for $18. this beez neez stuff is quite nice!

  • How have I not noticed this deal!? Props to nubzy for linking it in another thread.
