  • Bought one (by accident LOL) thanks op

Hi would you guys go for this or the Xiaomi ?

    • +2

Xiaomi one is cheaper with the powered carpet cleaner and powered softbrush.

Dreame v9 is 120 Air watts power, Dyson v7 is 100 air watts power. (Suction)

Replacement parts cheaper on the Dreame.

Honestly though, the V11 is a great flagship and beats the Dreame hands down, but the Dyson v7 is destroyed by the Dreame v9. The Dreame is very economical for someone who isn't after the best of the best but something that is a strong performer for the price. I am very happy with mine.

    • Never tried a Xiaomi but for similar price I will always take a Dyson for that fact that they have been in this business much longer and have refined their products for a number of generations.

Doesn't ring true for robotic vacuums, and stick vacuums are also a new game for Dyson. I will admit the V11 is quite a beast although pricey.

        • +5

You are kidding right, stick vacuums a new game to Dyson? They are the reason Stick vacuums in the current form exist, not the ones with large heads and dustbags etc

          • -2

@Maveot: Relative to traditional vacuums, yes.

      • +1

        Spoken like a true non-OzBargainer

lol, its just vacuums, you dont need all that much r&d bro.

        • +10

The Dyson V11 spins at 125,000 rpm, that may have taken a little R&D.

          • @iDroid: Lol, xiaomi does 100.000, I wouldn’t call 25% more as a great refinement that makes it worth a triple price.

            • @nikoris: Sure, I bet some of that R&D also worked it's way into competitor devices and that competitors are also doing R&D.

But to say no R&D is needed is patently wrong.

              • @iDroid: Who said no r&d is needed?

                • @nikoris:

lol, its just vacuums, you dont need all that much r&d bro.

                  • @iDroid: Is that the same as ‘no r&d needed’?

                    • @nikoris: Not sure, it's implied, but not specific.

What were you trying to say?

      • Dyson have lost all of my respect for their non top range items. The v6 range of vacuums is absolute trash, I wouldn't imagine a huge step up for the 7.

Dreame until the v11 is a factor

        • +1

The emptying mechanism on the 7 is a big step up from the 6

      • +1

Dyson would be the best if they had swappable battery. Give me a swappable battery model, I will be their customer for life.

    • +1

I already did. Mainly for warranty & support.
While the Xiaomi may have better specs, the Dyson V7 is good enough for its intended use (i.e: as a secondary maintenance vac, for the odd job around the house, for the car, or when you don't feel like taking out your bigball / main corded vac etc.). We are quite happy with it and don't regret the purchase.
Bought for $349 end of last year.

  • Bought! Thanks OP :)

  • looks like it doesnt have HEPA filter. Dreame has better specs than this. CS would be issue though.

some realistic comparison of the suction power between Dreame V9 vs Dyson V7.

Looks like a very misleading test.

The end of the Dyson (at the suction contact point) has a cutout (for the tool/attachments) which allows a large air gap.

      • ohhk..good.

  • thanks i got one. almost forgot to put in the code.

  • Thanks OP, have bought and will use to replace our V6 which has given many years of good service yet starting to die on us.

I was tempted by competition, but the warranty provided by Dyson was second to none with it which is why we sill stay loyal.

    • How long's Dyson's warranty?

        • +3

With our V6 we had a few issues, anything in the 2 years replaced no questions, in fact an issue at 2years 2 months no issues with parts as well. In all each time was no more than 10 mins on phone.

That sort of support I value.

  • Thanks OP 😊

  • This code can't be applied to your order.

What is going on ? Am I doing something wrong?

  • So does this one good with carpet and hardfloor or do I need more attachments?

  • Does both carpet and hard floor. Comes with crevice nozzle and non-power head (at least, ours did).

If we didn't have carpet, a Dyson stick would be our only vacuum cleaner.

On carpet, don't expect the same performance as you get from a quality regular vacuum cleaner (including Dyson). However, stick vacuum cleaners are incredibly light and easy to handle and do an acceptable job when you could not be bothered with weight, cords, awkward corners, etc.

  • Coupon code no longer valid :-(

    • Just tried it and the code worked for me.

      • Thx for reply…but clearly I'm missing something/doing something wrong although I just followin the normal checkout process. When I go to checkout and enter the coupon code PDMOTOR in the "Gift cards, vouchers, coupons" field I get a "This code can't be applied to your order"

        • I just tried too and could apply the coupon successfully.

Make sure you're on ebay.com.au and your ebay account is setup as an Australian address, etc.

          • @83ams: Yep, on ebay.com.au (https://pay.ebay.com.au/) and Sent to is a QLD address. Payment option I use is via Paypal though….not that I think that it should make a difference.

        • I also faced same problem. Sign out and try to checkout as guest.

          • @jojeeraj: There we go! Thank you! Solved! Checkout as Quest on ebay.

  • My wife wants the v8 for more runtime, is it worth double the price of the v7 ?

    • wouldnt 2x V7s have more runtime than a V8??

    • I bought the v8 for under $400, for extra $80 yes but not more than $100 more. Definitely not double!

  • I love Dyson. Been using for years. Just superior feel and quality.

  • I know this won’t be as good as the absolute (with the fluffy head) at cleaning hard wood floors. But does anybody have experience on how this performs on hard wood?

  • Looking to buy this using ebay gift cards purchased from Coles (so I can earn extra points on my amex plat edge). The plan is to buy at least 3 x $100 gift cards (seems to be the largest denomination available). Will I be able to use three gift cards (along with the discount code) to make the purchase or will I be limited to just one code?

    • Never mind. It seemed to work.
