The HP Touchstone for the recently-firesale'd Touchpad are back in stock. Under $55 shipped to Australia, or under $100 for two (sell one maybe?). An absolute bargain. These will sell out quickly, so grab one now.

Edit: this is the official inductive charging dock for the Touchpad. Just plonk your Touchpad onto the dock, and it starts charging. No wires, no plugs, and it even does it through a case. The other 'side' of the charging mechanism is already in the back of your Touchpad. This device completes the circuit.

It can also automatically turn your TP into Exhibition mode, which can show pics, the weather, your Facebook feed, etc etc.

Update: link broke, here's a new one that works http://amzn.com/B0055QYJIS
Note that the price has now gone up, and they might not ship to Australia for the new seller, as it is not Amazon direct anymore.

  • Hey mate - throw the price in the title. And maybe use the word 'dock' so people know what you're talking about.

    • yep. first thought was "what's a touchstone". next… so how much is it?

Sorry chaps, deal updated with more info.

  • Nice - if paying by credit card (not 28 degrees unfortunately) is it better to pay Amazon in US dollars or Aussie?
    Whose rate is better?

    • It depends on what rate your credit card gives you when you are charged and also what happens to the exchange rate between the time you order the item and when you are charged.

    • Depends on the what credit card you have, but I think in most cases it's better to pay in US dollars. Visa publishes the exchange rates they use here (but you'll still have to find out the additional fees your particular card charges): http://corporate.visa.com/pd/consumer_services/consumer_ex_r…

      • Thanks = went with USD.

        • Yes be careful of the international transaction fees. The crap Amazon covertor maybe better when you factor them in.

The OEM HP custom fit case is also available for $25.04: http://www.amazon.com/HP-TouchPad-Custom-Fit-Case/dp/B0055QY…

Bought bought the Touchstone and case about 2 hours ago here; I'm surprised they're still in stock. :)

  • I think HN had it at $45 during the fire sale. Not sure if available now, I didn't get it when I got my 16 GB TP.

no accesories left in australia AFAIK

      • That's too bad. Was secretly holding back, just in case they slash even more. It doesn't bother me, it's not a must-have.

        • Yeah i know, i have been holding back too.. but the outlook gets bleaker by the day..

    • I paid $25 at Clive Peeters.

Read this as HP Touchpad under $55 and quickly clicked.

It's hard to positive vote after that

  • Bought 3! Been waiting for this!

  • This is for US power sockets right?

    • yeah would be

      • it has a USB plug so use your au plug you got with the tablet

    • The Australian version had an American plug on it by default, and came with the international set of plugs. I'd assume they are all the same.

Great. Time to order 5 of them even though I really need one and sell the rest for twice the price on ebay.

They're great for the Exhibition mode - have these setup to display diffeerent things depending on whether you're docking your touchpad in the bedroom, kitchen or toilet.

The last one was mostly a joke. Mostly.

  • Thanks for posting this! quickly bought one for a mate and myself, also added the official HP case for $25. It'll be the US power adapter but should be able to get a cheap adapter

    • uses a USB to plug into the power plug so use the one that came with the tablet

  • One if those things the iPad competition does well. Oh well…

  • Be great with the $99 touchpad I never managed to get hold of…

  • link doesnt work?

I just used the below link.

The OEM HP custom fit case is also available for $25.04: http://www.amazon.com/HP-TouchPad-Custom-Fit-Case/dp/B0055QY…

  • Thanks for this been looking for it and checking amazon, but all the previous amazon ones werent shipping to aus.

  • These look really cool but I don't use the touchpad enough as it is, maybe I'll grab one at a later stage if I use it more.

    • Or you could pass it on to someone who'd actually use it :)

Hope there's still some on Friday……..I've used my weekly budget, would buy one now but my Mrs will kill me :P

~$55 seems a lot to pay for a dock when you only paid $98 for the tablet ;)

    • True to his name, although "Invisible" might be a better name.

  • url not working :(

  • pardon my ignorance.. it is written that it is $55 shipped.. Isn't the free shipping option only within the US??

    • +1

It's around $44USD, plus a bit over $8 for shipping, so around $51, 52 AUD shipped, depending on the conversion rate of the day. Thus, 'under $55'.

      • Thanks for the explination!
Is that for the case, or the charging dock? (it's listed at $55.99 and by my math that works out to approx AU52.60

Also is the only way to see the postage quote, to sign up?

A HN rep told me that HP would have the accessories available online at the promissed 50% off after HN cancelled all back orders for the accessories.

Can anyone find them on HP's maze of a website?

    • Did he say when that would be??

      • Unfortunately no.

  • The link has expired, the new seller is more expensive and doesn't ship to Aus.

    • being new to the Amazon experience,
How do you know they don't ship to Aus?
Can you gleen this info from the 'Product Description' section where it says 'Shipping'? (if so, would I have to contact them in the event it says "This item is also available for shipping to select countries outside the U.S."?)

      Cheers!

      • If they won't let you ship an item to Aus you'll find out when you add it to your cart and try to check out. After selecting your shipping address it'll usually give you an error message.

        • oh.. thats easy!
          Cheers

  • thanks worked out at $49.84 and has now left the US and on it way over so should have it soon
