    Holy sh!t
    Impulse buy :(

Is Lenovo make a boo boo with pricing?

  • +1

    I'm guessing that's price error

    • Probably, but they might just be cutting the price because of the pending release of their ultrabook?

      • The website mentioned something about ThinkPad X220 pre-built laptops and not customisable..

  • how much do they normally cost?

    • Round 1000 I reckon?

      • Closer to $2,500. Side note, can any one add it to a cart?

        • They have already deducted the amount from my bank account.

        • +1

          I can't… it says:

          Cannot start configuration Wf because:
Item is not available for site:auweb; :000000AE:0000CA9D:

        • says its valued at $2,562.15 but is it actually worth that much?

        • +2

@mrshorty: ThinkPad series (i.e. non Edge) are reknown in the industry for being particularly reliable, fantastic build quality, the "black" look, the keyboard / trackpoint, warranties etc… They have always been incredibly pricey, and targeted mainly at corporate / business users.

This doesn't mean that they don't die, by the way, just stating the perception of the industry in general. I'll leave my personal opinions aside :)

I believe they are worth ~$2,500, of-course if you are after the "features" that only Lenovo offer in the "X" Series. For most though, I'm tipping the casing, keyboard, build quality, weight etc… of a low to mid range HP / Dell / Asus etc… (which this is pretty much spec'd as) is not a priority worth spending an additional $1,500-$2,000 on.

So of course, when a deal comes up for ~$480 with what I believe is a superior quality machine over the equivalently priced offerings, even I'd impulse purchase one. :)

      • Unfortunately they arnt a quality build/product as they used to be (pre x200) although having said that i am using one now.

    • It's worth round 1000 coz in the US they are selling it for 900 bucks sth.

  • Bought it…

        • +2

I think many here have the same idea lol ^_^.

  • get an error
    "Cannot start configuration Wf because:
Item is not available for site:auweb; :000000AE:0000CA9D:"

    probably just as well

    • +2

yes, dead now, if you bought one, report if you get it or just a refund.

  • I suspect it's a pricing error they're fixing now. I receive the following error when I clicked "Customise and Buy":
    http://shopap.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/auweb/Leno…

    Cannot start configuration Wf because:
Item is not available for site:auweb; :000000AE:0000CA9D:

    • I think they've stuffed it up even more. Initially, the link provided by the OP states the X220 w/ Quickship was ~$1000.

Now it's $487, but still receiving the same error.

  • Oh damnit!

Just missed out by a couple of minutes.

  • ozbargained again?

  • +2

Just got one, Christmas and Birthday present sorted for the girlfriend :)

  • For this price, this is a robbery…

  • Bought one just now (took a while with checkout) seems to have gone through!

edit: Got the same email as other, and they have taken the funds from my cc

  • I got confirmation email from Lenovo, it said Your order is being processed and no updates can be made at this time.

  • Why I can not buy it

  • Just spoke to lenovo, price is incorrect and they have cancelled the link.

Congrats to anyone that got one.

From the email received after ordering

Lenovo reserves the right to refuse to sell a product to any customer for any reason, or to limit the number of units to a particular product that a customer may buy at any one time. If we do not accept your order we will notify you by phone or email; your credit card payment will not be processed or your direct deposit will be refunded.

Arses are definitely covered if they decide not to honour the deal!

  • goodluck to those that actually bought it! please report back if they honour it

  • so sorry i am late

  • Looks like this is their correct pricing

Just called Lenovo. It was correct pricing but they are sold out! I was literally looking at these models yesterday, but thought I would hold off until after xmas. Really happy I waited. :D

    • Nice one. Congratulations on a great bargain!

    • really? Lenovo told me it was a pricing error, and they would probably not be honouring it.

      • I called up asking to buy another one (Xmas present!) and they said they sold out.

So we will see what happens.

        • fingers crossed mate - awesome deal if ya got one!

      • Lenovo told me the same story, pricing error

    • If it is a real deal, what a great find, Mily - congrats.

  • +2

If anyone bought it and does not want it, I can buy it off you for $487.92 and a large bunch of grapes.

  • nooooooooo

  • +1

    Web Price: $574.01
    After eCoupon:

ill be more sceptical if it said You save:$574.24 or something like that

  • Cool. I bought it and seleced to pay via Direct Deposit. Does anyone know if it has Express Shipping because on the main page it indicated express, but on the check out there was only standard shipping. Coz i'm going on holiday in 12 days and need it asap haha

ozbargain only funds the 1%, the 99% dont get anything.

    • so sad i didnt make it in the 1% minority hehe.

    • +7

      Occupy Lenovo?

  • called and told sold out! really? or just refuse to admit they made a error

    • Yeah its a bit suss, they definitely told me price error.

    • Told me price error also. Will find out soon.

  • +3

I can't believe Lenovo managed to avoid getting ozbargained.

  • ok time for me to call.

  • +1

Had two in my cart but decided to stuff around looking at other coupons & making a lenovo account ><

Just have to tell myself I saved $970 :(

    • +2

      brutal

  • i think its a pricing error
    because
    ThinkPad X220 price 1,052.10

but if you quick ship it, then its

    Quickship! ThinkPad X220 $487.91

more than half discount if you quick ship it lol

  • +1

i called sales, the lady said they just sold all retail stock, so congrats to those bought it.

  • ok back from my call. The lady said all stock sold out, those whose order went through will probably get a call from a sales representative with an offer for a "standard configuration" with their previous order cancelled. Time to see if i get a call haha

    • When did they "Sell out"?

    • So we have to buy some more rubbish to get this deal honoured rite?

  • It's a price error, not sold out. Check the website again, it's back for $1052.

    • Actually it's the 1150 sth…

  • It still shows up here http://shopap.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/auweb/Leno…

    The website says

    Quickship! ThinkPad X220
Get it Fast! Free Express Shipping on ThinkPad X220 pre-built laptops

So the deal was probably real and Lenovo wanted to clear a batch of pre built laptops at a discounted price.

    • Seems like a Corporate order went wrong ..

OK so refreshed page gives a ThinkPad Edge i3 for $449 with more storage (500gb) bigger screen (15.4). So why isnt this better? is it because of the weight? it is customizable to move up to a i5 for a few dollars more. Any thoughts?

    • +4

Quality of the X series is much, much higher than the thinkpad edge.

      • -1

It's like apple and orange, obviously.

      • Good to know. How is the quality better? Stronger, faster, brighter?

        • +2

A combination of all. And it's so so so durable.

    • A similar spec 15" is always going to cost less than a 12.5"

  • Damn, been told sold out on phone…… Can't believe just missed by couple of minutes.

  • -1

A high end laptop with no hdmi?

    • You are right. Not all the people need HDMI with a netbook size laptop. How often do you use your HDMI port?

      • I use the VGA port more than I use the HDMI port. Mostly because all the projectors and smartboards at uni all use VGA…

      • I'd say everyday, Notepadd++ on one screen,

      • and Android emulator on the other. But the same could be done via VGA as well. If you did want to watch a youtube tutorial or any video lecture, HDMI is pretty useful if your monitor already has speakers

    • It does have a DisplayPort though - You can get an adapter from DisplayPort to HDMI. I currently use a DisplayPort to DVI adapter at work on a ThinkPad.

    • Display port does Digital video which is the same as DVI and HDMI

You can get an adaptor or cable for $10-15

  • My order status has changed from "Processing" to "Submitted" seems like its going backwards??

    • +1

      See what happens. Good luck!
