Older processor, but for those looking at portibility this may be ok as its got an 8 hour battery life, and a core 2 due is ok for on the go processing on the cheap.

    battery life is the strong point here, but i take it the 8 hours figure is just the pc with everything low/off and idle in windows? would mean more if they said something like '50% lcd brightness, wifi on, reloading Firefox browser page every 30 secs, battery life 6 hours'!

    I bought this last year to haul around in California, very nice for a basic setup, I get about 5 hours use when watching videos and using it to topup my iPhone charge (rough figure)

    In my experience, ASUS does long-life battery-based systems (mostly netbooks, with a growing number of long-life laptops… offering up to multi-core i5 CPU's inside).

    Max spec'd battery life can be 8, 10 or ~13 hours.

    Note that - if you buy, eg, a netbook with only a 3 or 6 cell battery - you may find an aftermarket battery with up to 9 cells, for very long life, ie, if spec's are to be believed.

    I guess that last bit could be true for non-ASUS systems, but I was only looking at ASUS netbook options.
