Universal Remote recommendations?

Hi all,

I'm looking to replace the remotes for a SHARP 24'' Aquos LCD TV & a LG V271 DVD/VCR Combo with a universal remote from LogitecShop (http://www.logitechshop.com.au/products/remotes?dir=asc&orde…), when I order the Z506 surround system.

Any idea which remote would be the best? I was thinking of getting this one http://logitechshop.com.au/logitech-harmony-525-remote.html simply because the blue led screen looks cooler than the others :P
can't seem to find anywhere online that actually says what models of TVs & DVD players it supports though…

(IMHO) All the Logitech Harmony remotes are fantastic. The remotes themselves don't have any built-in support for TVs etc, instead you hook the remote up to your computer, go to the Logitech website and type in your model number and it will download all the codes to your remote.

As long as another Harmony user has used their remote with that particular TV & DVD/VCR there should be codes available.

In the unlikely event the Logitech website doesn't have the codes for your TV/DVD/VCR you're still able to program the Harmony remote manually using your existing remotes (the Harmony remotes has an IR input sensor at the bottom to receive IR codes from other remotes).

I've set up a number of these remotes for friends and family over the years and it's a joy each time.

I once had to call their tech support line once when setting up one of them (I forget why) and I think it was, quite literally, the best tech support I've ever received. The girl not only fixed the problem but offered to program my remote from scratch and give me a call back when it was done if I gave her the model number of my TV and other devices.

Wow, this is really starting to sound like I work for Logitech or have some ulterior motive to making you buy it (I don't) - just really impressed by this line of products.

I own one of the 525s and it's a solid product, but for the extra $4 you'd be stupid not to get the 650. It might not be clear from the photos on that site, but the 525 only displays LCD text - the 650 has a full LED screen with pictures/colours. (when I purchased mine years ago the LED version was something like $180 - prices have come way down).

    • Thanks mate! appreciate the time you've taken to reply! Ordering the 650 — totally didn't see that it's got a colour LCD, thanks for mentioning that!
