            @omnoms: Narh, their HQ is in Australia. Their products often feature in Aldi's weekly specials. It's almost impossible to get spares. Poor quality and after sales support.

      Manual suggests it is replaceable, and TBH you just need one that fits.. Measure it and just buy something online, these things are usually pretty generic.

    Dodgy as hell. Here are the specifications for a real HEPA filter.

    Filters meeting the HEPA standard must satisfy certain levels of efficiency. Common standards require that a HEPA air filter must remove—from the air that passes through—at least 99.95% (European Standard)[4] or 99.97% (ASME, U.S. DOE)[5][6] of particles whose diameter is equal to 0.3 μm; with the filtration efficiency increasing for particle diameters both less than and greater than 0.3 μm.[7]

    And from this products page…

    95% versus a real HEPA standard of 99.95%.

        It's unbelievable that people still believe in deregulating markets.

        This is the behaviour from companies when you give them a tiny grey area to operate from, the lie and cheat as much as possible.

        They shouldn't be allowed to include the word HEPA whatsoever unless it meets the standard.

      From what I understand
      E11 should only be called EPA
      not HEPA
      HEPA should meet the H13 standards (or market as "true HEPA filter" by some brands)

      However, IMO unless you really need to filter particles or even some viruses (most viruses are smaller than 0.3 micron anyway)
      otherwise E11 filter should be good enough for most household
      I got a Xiaomi air purifier with E11 filter and its pretty effective to filter pollen which helps my hay fever a lot

    any real-world benefits of this? i'd give it a go for $20, but i'd think there would be a reasonable difference between a HEPA filter and HEPA-Type filter.

    Bought a couple, will try one and see how it goes. TBH I’m not buying it for HEPA purposes, I wouldn’t trust it for that. But if it reduces dust, I’ll be happy

        I don't think that's what plasma wave is intended to do, but yeah it is a feature on more expensive purifiers.

        I've had some that did reduce dust a little, but it was many years ago and can't remember the brand.

        Also configured 3 HVAC filters with a box fan when I was overseas, cost was less and worked better than most other options

    I'm not that confident either it'll do anything for those days I'm really suffering from hayfever but for $20 will give it a go. If they run out of stock and cancel the order won't be too fussed this time round …

    Before you do, know that air purifiers are not a cure-all. There is very little medical evidence to support that air purifiers directly help improve your health or alleviate allergies and respiratory symptoms.

        So true! Buying stuff BECAUSE its cheap and without knowing what its doing is utter nonsense.
        Even if this product is kind of cleaning the air, it is still going yo end up in landfill very soon. Therefore buying this product doesnt help you in any way

        Need to call supplier Tempo for replacement. My previous experience with Tempo for spare parts was less than satisfactory (3 attempts and still the wrong screws for the ALDI drawer).

        You are better off getting a piece of foam and cutting it to size for the filter, it probably works just as good as the original filter (maybe better because it's not coated in Shenzen schmoo) and it's re-washable.
