  • Using tunein right now, in fact, daily.. Paid version. Pocket weather too

  • I also use Pocket Weather daily & TramTracker (Melbourne).

I did a search for Pocket Weather on the market, second item on the list was Pocket Blonde. (And no, she didn't look like someone I wanted in my pocket).

  • +1

My current favourite is Where's My Water. I cannot believe how polished it is, and I've been playing it continuously since the 1st of December… http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/58569

    • Hmmm, I got bored with that one pretty quickly.

In general my most used would be Oz Weather. My most used game would be Battleship, or Plants vs Zombies which I am yet to finish so will keep playing until I do. For whenever I have to wait, I play Coin Frenzy, although it tends to crash a bit.

  • Favourite is PowerAmp
    http://powerampapp.com/

Once you've used this, you will probably never go back to using the stock Android music player / Doubletwist / Winamp or anything else.

    • PowerAmp says it "plays songs from folders and from own library". I've got most of my music library on my phone (on a 64gb micro-SD), and organised in folders for genre/artist/album (or in the case of some of my classical music and compilation albums, genre/album).

Can you browse by folder to select the album you wish to play in this kind of setup? I find WinAmp incredibly annoying; if I browse by genre it shows me individual tracks, if I browse by album I have to scroll through 860 entries to see which I feel like at the moment.

I hate how iTunes has destroyed sensible and transparent standards for music storage on computers and devices.

      • Yep, if you are the type of person who prefers to organise his/her own songs by putting them into folders PowerAmp is for you.

        • Okay, you persuaded me to spend money. And yes, it looks pretty good.

  • Bubble upnp, stream video from my nas or anything upnp, to tv/tablet/ps3 etc. does require codecs and a media player ie Mx player or mobo

    • Thanks. Been using UPnPlay for a while and am now trying BubbleUPnP. The UI is quite a bit better.

  • Favourite app at the moment? Doggcatcher.

How much data does TuneIn chew up?

    • I have just found out that data usage is recorded under "Settings" in the tunein app, so you can work this out for your personal usage.

In my case I have used an average of 2.2GB Wi-Fi & 230Mb cellular a month for the last 10 months - and I'm a keen user.

  • Since this thread got me browsing the market, I thought I'd have a look at Rdio. This wasn't available in Australia last time I looked, but it appears to now be available. Anyone tried it yet?

    • There's a 7 day trial if you're interested.
