Stumbled across this while looking for the cheapest unit i could find that was V3.1s (lots of 2.0 or 2.1 available cheaper).

This is also the nicer aluminium chassis version.

Couldnt find it for this price when i searched on Aliexpress but clicked on an old link from another forum when i was doing research and it took me straight here, surprised how much cheaper this is versus older models from all other sellers. Get one while you can.

Flash sale ended yesterday but using a new link you can still get it for the same price.

      Clever. The blue handle is a direct clone of the Hako model. Light weight , and allows you to hold the iron much closer to the tip.

          The handle in set 4 is the Hako clone.

          I have the one in set 8 which is a pencil design, great feel in the hand, but has some issues with durability the the cord enters the handle.

    I bought one late last year after much research comparing the T12 with the TS100. Glad I went for the T12, such a huge selection on bits all around aud$5 to $6.

    I have the black version. Also aluminium, albeit anodized finish.

    For those not familiar with this series of iron the T12 refers to the bit type. Originally developed by Japanese manufacturer Hako, and now sold by several Chinese manufacturers with a much lower price and more features .

    Remember you need to add GST to the above price .

      i have the TS100 & this doesn't really compare for portability, i can run mine off a power bank. The OP listing is mains powered.

      IIRC the TS100 was only around the $50 mark.

        Both comparable in terms of features, accuracy and speed (reaching temp).

        I opted for the T12 because I didn't need portability, and liked the idea of cheaper bits.

        Hard to fault either option though.

          Although the tips for TS100 are also cheap from Ali.

          In all the years i was a tech, i generally always used the same tip anyway, whether doing SMD or thru-hole work, 1.2mm chisel tips FTW.

            @Bunsen: As an amateur, i'm still yet to master the chisel tip for smaller SMD work….. I just need to keep practicing!

              @ash2000: When i said chisel, i meant the bullet type with a slight flat on each side, used with the Hakko series irons, i'll dig up a link so you know what i mean, i find the bullet tips OK but with the slight flats, you have better control when doing SMD stuff..

              Cant go wrong with this style, great for SMD & thru-hole, tinning wires, I only ever used a bigger tip for heavy duty wires/joints or thick ground layers etc..

              Practice makes perfect, i used to pride myself on making my joints look like factory. My secret is using BGA rework flux, makes joints look beautiful..

                @Bunsen: Ok thanks, I was thinking of a knife tip for some reason! My error.

                My joints are light years better then what they used to be since buying the T12, but are some way off looking "factory"! What brand of flux are you using? Amtech seems to be favoured my many, although hard to know if your buying genuine or a fake version online.

          Got mine from this deal.. AU$58.66 delivered.

          There's even modded F/W available for them. Did a fair bit of research at the time & the TS-80 wasn't quite as good, can't remember the differences though, was over 12mths ago.

    I've been a hobbyist for 40 years. The control of this thing is crazy. I got one at a slightly higher price about a month ago. Heats up in seconds and holds exactly! Goes to half power after a time that I set, and turns off after another presettable time. Love it. The assortment of tips is great too. I have the blue handle ('sets 4' with this seller). Tips click in and out so easy. I don't know the 3.1 is any better than the 2.1 but this is nice and I like the display options of the 3.1

      Chinese solder is hit and miss so I buy mine from good ole Jaycar. Big roll last for ages for me.
